How about some CPS accountability?
There are few things I enjoy more about this job than writing a good "hilarity ensues" headline about the latest lefty absurdity, but when it comes to today's Chicago Public Schools (CPS) absurdity, the only word that will do is "tragedy."
Illinois Policy just issued a report showing that while CPS has doubled spending per student since 2012, grades are down by 60-80%, depending on the subject. "Just 1-in-4 CPS students can read or perform math at grade level," the report says. "The percent of students enrolling in college after high school graduation is decreasing. And for those who do enroll, another study found many are struggling to finish college in four years – just 30% get their bachelor’s in four years compared to 47% nationally."
By every other measure... there's no other way to put this... CPS is falling apart.
But Conehead is on track to give them something like a 9%-per-year raise.
Never have so many been awarded so much for doing so little.

I've probably said this before, but in case I have not, I will say it again. You cannot teach the unteachable.
For close to half a century, 50+ years, cps has been a declining public disservice.
This has been primarily the faults of our political policy makers.
With a solid contribution from the communities most allergic to authentic education.
Add the ever greedier ctu, plus the huge pot of propanganda slop, and here we are today.
The sad thing is a lot of CPD officers are married to CP$ teacher$ and vote lockstep with them. Against their own interests.

Privatize all the public schools. We don't need public schools. Parents also need to pay tuition and teachers get a salary based on student performance. That is the free market in action.
Last year we walked around a cps school, most teachers seemed to be 300lbs. They would not move from desk to use eraser board or help students at desk. Lazy and incompetent.
Illinois Policy reports:
"CPS’ failure to engage students shows in the chronic absenteeism rate. Chronic absenteeism has skyrocketed."
Yet, CPS continues to pass students that have 40-50+ unexcused absences with A's, B's, and C's. Thanks in part to CPS directly their teaxhers to give mounds of retakes of tests and quizzes, tons of extra credit, not factoring in absences and tardies into grades, and equity grading.
Equity grading allows for no student to get lower than 40%-50% on any of their work or tests/quizzes. This includes not doing any assignments or taking quizzes/tests. But, the dumbasses are still failing.
"According to ISBE data, 86.3% of teachers in CPS were rated as proficient or excellent in 2023, down from 91.4% in 2019. Yet many students in CPS are struggling to reach proficiency in core subjects."
This as CPS is letting teachers and staffers go in droves and replacing them Bi-Lingual teachers and staff in the same areas to accommodate an influx in Spanish speaking migrant students. Steinmetz HS just cut 9 teachers and staff and are replacing them with Bi-Lingual ones in their place.
Steinmetz cut 2/6 of their counselors with 17 & 18 years experience and are replacing them with newbie Bi-Lingual Counselors. Their Counseling Dept Chair/Counselor left as well and their Counseling Assistant was cut too!!! The reason for 3/6 of Steinmetz counselors are leaving is unreasonable demands by their ditzy principal that expects her counselors to get students that don't show up to class or school into college.
Steinmetz has an 89% Chronic Absenteeism rate. (Students with a minimum of 10 absences)
In all, Steinmetz lost 19 employees since the start of the 2023-24 school year until the last week of school a week ago. 9 Steinmetz employees were cut, 11 high-tailed it out before they were cut.

Forget college, go into the trades! You will save yourself significant debt and paying all that money to get a degree making the same as or in most cases less than the trades not to mention spare yourself from woke indoctrination all the while paying for it.

The 30% am hat finishes college in 4 years are the kids that go to selective enrollment highs schools. Take them out of the mix and you probably have single digit college grads

As this common sensible advice becomes more prevalent, and the taking of this advice follows,it can be seen why some of the business communities favor the open borders' version of immigration policy.

Something tells me that DEI has ruined the teaching staff. They like to blame the parents, and that is a valid point, but I think the quality of teachers, many of whom are Chicago State graduates, is poor.
Was assigned to a school in 011. After seeing some of the teachers, I'm not surprised the students are failing. The teachers were barely literate themselves. All the administration did was try to fake attendance and test scores. And hide any crimes committed in the school. It was so disgusting.
Im happily retired, my wife is a CPS TEACHER so that 9% bump is welcomed. But just like the police department DO NOTHING'S CPS has them as well. I witnessed many coppers who did nothing in 20+ years working the beat car. Those desk dollies at every district station not to mention the ones hiding at the academy and 35th St. There are too many entitled people on both sides.

Early morning mistake. One Steinmetz employee cut was their College and Career Coach who was brought back after their LSC voted to move money around to pay them.
So, 8 cut not 9 and 11 left on their own.
That's 19.

After 10 years of repeated threats to her life, theft, cars being keyed my daughter said adios to CPS. One of the schools where CPD was stationed and it was not enough to quell the violent mutts.
The CPS motto is no taxpayers behind is left out.
The CPS/CTU live streamed contract bargaining was typical nonsense. CTU didn't show up until 40+ minutes into the bargaining with the only CPS' all malenegotiation's team representing their case.
CTU President Stacy Davis Gates is well known for being late to any meeting. Is it SDG time, BPT, or both? Then, SDG comes in and runs her big insulting mouth. This is one reason Lightfoot told Sharkey to leave SDG out of negotiations when he was the CTU President.
