McCompStat Blows Burke

For a carpetbagging mope, he dove into the political game with both feet:

  • Former Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthy told Kendall that as a lifelong law enforcement officer he felt “conflicted” and that “it is hard to reconcile the Ed Burke that I know with the allegations in this case.”

“[B]ut I am sure that I know who Ed really is, beyond the public persona,” McCarthy wrote. “I cannot fathom myself writing this letter for anyone other than Ed Burke.”

Wasn't Garry's new wife connected to some political family? Was it Burke?

Why do u have such a hard on for Burke? You realize verdolyak, Burke the Daley and Roti ran this city for years. THEY kept downtown and the neighborhoods safe. They made sure there wasn’t a piece of garbage on the ground on a downtown street. They also made sure that decent people were in charge of all the city departments. Connected people?? Yep, absolutely BUT, they hired all the neighborhood people.. not the mutts we see on garbage trucks, water trucks and in the CTA. Now you all wanted them out, well you got it and you complain that downtown is a joke, the neighborhoods are slipping and white people need not apply for city jobs. Can’t have it both ways boys and girls.. it’s a hard truth, but it’s the truth.

When heran for mayor, remember hearing a bit.

Not sure it was O'Connor, but she WAS connected, and BIG time lawyer.

How did this useless asshole ever get so far? And what in the hell would marry the loud mouthed drunken slob? So much for karma, all these types seem to land on their feet. I remember when he was running for mayor and that speech at the black church. Pandering to the nth degree. What a maroon. Watch out for street lights, McDolt.

And Burke, at 80 it's about over anyway. He won't really ever pay for his crimes. He lived the good life on the backs of others, no remorse. He's really a great guy, just ask him. Just your typical corrupt democrap.

McCarthy was just being a nice guy.
He was capable of doing so in most situations and I’d take him back any day over Snelling!
That’s just my opinion so haters now it’s your turn.

McCarthys wife is an attorney. His father in law is also an attorney and they all live in Park Ridge now? The family law firm has been representing several Democrats during legal troubles and McCarthy is now a police chief or in western burbs! And the rank and file of his current Department cannot stand the blow hard! The comment they state is that he speaks like he cleaned up New York City? Then he moved to New Jersey where he cleaned up that town? And then moved to ChiRaq and cleaned up CPD until he fell off the white horse? He acts like Wyatt Earp cleaning up the west…….

My Gary McCarthy story. Sometime after Gary was fired I was working VRI on Michigan and Monroe. It was in late November and the weather was cold, foggy and misty. Old Gary walks by and engages me by saying your not a very good policeman you should be inside staying warm. I respond by saying you would be the first boss to spar me for being off my post. Old Gary then gets right in my face and stares down my nametag and walks away. I never heard anything about the encounter. Fuck him, my NYPD friends hated him.

This letter by Mc Streetlights can only show that the Supt. position is compromised by politics and cronyism. No other conclusion is possible here. It was payback time.

WLS radio reported that over 200 family, friends and former work associates of former alderman Burke have written letters to the federal judge requesting leniency for Burke citing his humanitarian service to the city. When Alderman Burke led the Finance Committee, it was routine for city employees, mainly first responders, to see their Injured on Duty claims denied. Claimants had to file grievances through their unions and some hired attorneys to sue the city. Burke ran the Finance Committee as though it were a fly by night insurance company. His policies, supported by Finance Committee staffers hurt a lot of people. These are facts that the federal judge should be made aware of so that he can give full consideration of Burke’s political service.

See if you can follow along as I try to make this as simple as possible for you to understand. All of that and more could have been accomplished without the rampant corruption. It's that simple. Justifying corruption by saying "it worked" doesn't convince anyone with a functioning brain that corruption is the answer. You think you need payoffs, favors, nepotism and theft to get an effective person into the right position? What's the problem with simply hiring the most qualified person for a position? Anyone defending any corruption, during any era, involving any race or nationality, in any position, regardless of the results, is a MORON. Ignoring any positive results of this persistent corruption, look at where it's gotten us. Corruption has become so widely accepted and expected, from all segments of the population, that it's just standard practice in Chicago, Cook County, and Illinois. Every single "leader" in local government is openly and proudly corrupt, and nothing is done. The current leaders saw the corruption of the past and decided "it's our turn now." And you think these things aren't directly related? Your excuses are pathetic.

There is a connection to the Laurino/D'Amico clan on the wife side. Ed Burke was a smart politician who was able to become on the the top 3 most influential and powerful people in Illinois for 40 years plus. Not many people can say that. I believe his arrogance is why so many people have soured on him. He from the old school and helped out thousands along the way and saved hundreds of coppers from being fired. Lets examine the last 5 years where two of the most unqualified racist ass holes have become mayor. Give me Ed Burke warts and all any day. Im sure he going to jail and may die there. That the price you pay for staying in too long.

Everyone on this blog and everywhere else who still defends McCarthy should be aware that he tried his utmost to screw two Officers in 015 who were simply doing their jobs. Even the Chicago Police Board (after reviewing the entire separation case) exonerated them both due to "no proof" offered by the Superintendent of any misconduct, and even accused him in the decision of lacking common sense. Imagine how quickly your opinion would change had it been you. He only wrote the letter for Burke to get publicity he doesn't deserve. If you still believe otherwise, then prove it by going to Willow Springs to work for him.

McCarthy’s new wife is the daughter of Randy Barnette. He is the 2nd husband of Marge Laurino… the former 39th ward alderman. Randy was her ward committeeman. Marge’s nephew is John Damico. He’s the former water department boss and former Illinois state representative. He now is the political director for the plumbers local 130. Ed Burke was very tight with that family. Laurino was also very tight with Daley. He appointed her and she was his strongest supporter. In turn, when Rahm ran, he turned to the with ward to get signatures for his candidacy. And he rewarded them handsomely, including John’s brother James- who was appointed to a high paying cta boss job.

Garry was and is a loudmouth NY Jagoff who liked to talk tough. He was a connected goof in NY who didn’t do much police work according to REAL old coppers I’ve talked too in NY. Garry and his crap started the demise of this department and forced a lot of good bosses to leave because of his compstat crap and his tough talk. There’s a reason he almost got knocked out at a Christmas party and it’s because of his big mouth.

Lots of stories about Burke corruption, but no facts. Even in this conviction, there was no quid pro quo, Burke did not get a dime. He was using his influence to get work for his law firm. That BS goes on all day long for every elected official who has a service business. Burke did a lot of good for a lot of people and helped a lot of coppers. But, he just could not let go and retire. It cost him.

They do not need Quid Pro Quo to convict here...The law says so. Burke ruined more people than he helped. And for petes sake, he took people's money just for them thinking he was going to help them. Thats a crime in itself. Then he forced businesses to use his Business under threats of intimidation. Enough is enough. Sentence the pig to prison already..!
