Chase Away Revenue
You'd think that with tax revenues being weak and every dollar being important, Chicago government would try to play nice with organizations that generate....you know....money. No such luck:

The real estate mantra has taken on whole new meaning with the official announcement Wednesday morning that Riot Fest is moving out of Douglass Park and heading to SeatGeek Stadium, 7000 S. Harlem Ave., in Bridgeview for a newly christened RiotLand extravaganza.
The festival, running Sept. 20-22, will feature more than 90 bands and encompass RiotLand, an immersive “Choose Your Own Adventure” world, Wednesday’s announcement said.
And the founder wasn't shy about who was to blame:
“Riot Fest will be leaving Douglass Park,” Petryshyn wrote. “And — allow me to be as clear as the azure sky of the deepest summer — our exodus is solely because of the Chicago Park District.”
In a letter to the media on Wednesday morning, 24th Ward Ald. Monique Scott expressed her own disappointment with the park district’s approval process regarding permits for the festival, which has taken place at the park in her ward since 2015.
You'd think an aldercreature had some pull with the Park District.
We admit to poking a bit of fun at this particular music festival, being placed smack in the middle of the ultra violent 010 and 011 Districts. We predicted a massive spike in robberies and batteries of wide-eyed suburban visitors who had no idea what they were walking into. And although there were some incidents, it wasn't as bad as it could have been. And now it's gone along with whatever revenue it may have generated.

They left the place a bigger pig-sty than it was every year.
The Park District paid over a million cleaning up the area with "connected" contract outfits.
Riot fest was the best and most peaceful concert in the city. The natives welcomed the visitors, sold them water, food, beer and drugs of all sorts. Myself as a policeman attended for 15+ years off duty, as a fan of the genre. Not a fan of all the hamassholes in Bridgeview, but might have to check it out once more now that its relocated.
It’s a punk rock fest. Least amount of problems out of all the festivals. Nice crowd. Wonder why?
Why continue to allow these clusterfuck operations the way things are now?

I sincerely doubt this is a coincidence.
Promoter realized his attendees can no longer reasonably expect to safely arrive and depart from a Chicago-located Riot Fest on inner-city Park District property, so moved venue to a suburb, one that provides safe environment for drunk/high/stoned concertgoers to enjoy the music without fear and without resorting to Wilmette, Winnetka or Hinsdale.
Anyone else notice that Wilmette no longer offers nonresidents "free access" to any part of lakefront Gillson Park? They have $10/person/visit new charge.

RIOT fest paid for the clean up and repairs to the highly under used Douglas park. Just like Lollapalooza and every other fest that take place on city property.
The Democrats still have not gotten the message that money, people and jobs are mobile. Treat those as crap? See the results. Blue states loosing population and welcoming Red states gaining. The park district management should have kissed the asses of the show promoters to keep the show and its money here instead of jerking them around.

Hearing there may be BIG issues with the RiotFest move, because apparently the Chicago woman's soccer team were supposed to play there same time RF was gonna be there. This is from The Score 670 heard earlier this afternoon.

Score hosts are a bunch of progressive lefty's. There will be no problems. Could move game to any HS field and handle the crowd.

There are no issues. The virtually unknown women's soccer team is complaining because they have to play somewhere else, and blaming it on sexism of all things. Nothing will change because a few women who can't draw a crowd want to whine. Be more entertaining and your own home stadium won't be rented out to better entertainers. It's got nothing to do with men's soccer, except that men's soccer is an exponentially bigger draw than women's soccer. That's not sexism.
