Beating the Average
Summer is almost here and the numbers reflect it:
- Per HeyJackass.com, this past weekend average over the past ten years is 8 Dead, 37 Wounded
- The 2024 numbers? 10 Dead, 44 Wounded
A cool and damp spring has kept the numbers a bit lower than last year. But that can change over the stretch of a few weeks.
Some in the media are noticing:
Ten people were killed and at least 34 were injured in shootings citywide over the weekend, marking the third weekend in a row in which more than 30 people were shot.
The fatal attacks happened as far north as the West Ridge neighborhood and as far south as Roseland and include one man shot on the inbound Dan Ryan Expressway.
Police reported no arrests in any of the shootings.
It's a marathon, not a sprint.

We lost control of this city. I worked the Puerto Rican fest and it was everything I remembered it to be. {snicker} If the 14th District and hundreds of assist units couldn’t handle this debacle (with supervisors even ordering us to retreat at one point) I can’t imagine what the DNC looks like. Keep in mind ANTIFA’s “Ghost Brigade” detonated IEDs targeting Portland PD…and then Capitol Police and US park rangers lost control of Pennsylvania Ave and the White House lawn on Saturday. The upcoming civil unrest and flash mobs (along with CPD incompetence and cowardice) will take a lot of us out this summer. The Puerto Rican fest just proved it.
The only reason more murders haven’t occurred is officers are trained to stop the bleeding and medical technology is saving more people than ever.

What really keeps the murder rate down are the coppers and paramedics that start the processing of rendering aid. Then these trauma surgeons are miracle workers. If not for these guys you might have 900 dead every year.
We never gave first aid, and if today's department demands it, start driving slowerto the scene. Let's see if we can raise those numbers.
Let's give Brandon time to address the "root causes" of crime. Maybe after a few decades and several thousand of shooting/homicide victims later things may improve. After all, the community voted him in for his change. Let them live (or die) with his progressive goals.

The more things change the more things stay the same. Obviously an old retired guy here. Watching the news over the weekend of the Puerto Rican mess brought back old memories. It was 1978 or 79 and working tac in a south side District we were detailed to a concert at Soldier Field.
Anyway, a 13th District Tac Sgt. ended up killing two gang bangers in Humboldt Park. Well the shit hit the fan. All the Tac teams that were downtown went to Humboldt Park. Fires were started up and down North Ave. and Division St. The only difference was that in those days bosses didn’t stand for this kind of shit. A guy named McDermott or McNamara was the Chief of Patrol. He looked like he had just come from a family party. He formed a skirmish line at Division and California if I remember right. We walked e/b and took the street back. He left a group at each corner to control access to the street. Always remember how the job was done. Whatever damage was done was done, at least the whole neighborhood didn’t burn down.
Democrats fostering chaos to steal the next election. What else will be in the mix, avian flu, Russian attack, border jumpers committing acts of terror, BLM reactivated, pallets of bricks strategically placed in the neighborhoods, mail in voting. The possibilities are endless.

Shot spotter doesn’t work according to craphead the mayor. I guess that is only for people of color. For the elite democrats attending the DNC it is very important to protect the democrats.

You appropriately and convincingly raise the alarm, but exception is taken with two parts of your posting.
"We" did not lose anything. "They" handed it to "them". "We" are subject to "their" misguided choices and decisions. COPA is the worst of "them".
"CPD incompetence and cowardice"? You used a broad brush and seemingly indicted the organization as a whole. Or, was that your intention? But take into account, any CPD group physical enforcement at a large gathering will inevitably be compared to the 1968 Democrat Convention police action, which was later labeled as a police riot in the Walker Report.
With large gatherings that could be considered out-of-control or on the brink, it seems the CPD is unfairly damned if they do, damned if they don't.
Last weekend there was a march for homicide victims in Elmhurst. I've never seen so much virtue signaling by white women in my life.

Fixed it.
The department needs to define the difference between fireworks and explosives that can cause death or great bodily harm and when deadly force can be used. The Columbus statue attack is a good example. Would those officer been justified firing at the bomb throwers?
The Killings Fields of Chicago are open. The season of mob rule, hunter killers and robbers are in full swing. It is widely known that Brandon the Dullard and his Democratic/CTU machine fosters lawlessness and is tolerated, socially accepted and designed for the release of the offender class to reoffend again. The same for the illegal aliens draining the local economy and adding to their crimes against the citizens in addition to our usual home-grown thugs.

And it's supposed to be a warm and sunny weekend with only a chance of rain on late Sunday night. My guess for the upcoming weekend's body count is at least a dozen.

** Yes & yes. And if they die at the hospital, even if it's as a result of their injuries, it doesn't "officially" count as a homicide.

White liberals are the greatest threat to freedom and democracy.

The department doesn't get to define that. The law is supposed to handle that. According to the law, throwing explosives, even fireworks, at a person can cause death or great bodily harm. People lose fingers and eyes, suffer severe burns, and receive all kinds of injuries from "just fireworks" every year. The government even films their cute little videos of mannequins being blown to shit by fireworks, to warn citizens of how dangerous they are. And those fireworks are made in foreign countries with little to no quality control or regulation over the substances being used, or the "safe" amounts of explosives in a particular firework. So, according to the law, those fireworks could reasonably cause death or great bodily harm, and anyone being threatened or actually attacked using those fireworks, would have the right to use deadly force against the attacker. Unfortunately, that's not how it would play out for an officer who shoots or even puts hands on a firework tosser. That officer would be fired, arrested, charged, prosecuted, sued, and have their entire life ruined, despite being legally justified in the use of deadly force. The law doesn't actually matter anymore. If they want to see you fired and imprisoned, they'll do everything they can to make it happen, no matter what the actual bad guy did to deserve whatever force was used.
