Hahahahahahahaha!

This headline is so Chicago:

  • Bally's won't open permanent casino in River West by 2026, gaming expert says — and may not build it at all

Granted, this is one person's opinion, but, he would appear to be THE expert:

  • Bally’s will never deliver the $1.7 billion casino and entertainment complex in River West by a state-mandated September 2026 deadline — and may not have the financial wherewithal to build the project at all.

That’s the bleak assessment from one of the nation’s foremost experts on a gaming industry in free fall.

Alan Woinski is the CEO of Gaming USA Corp. and editor of the Gaming Industry Daily Report.

He has watched Detroit and New Orleans struggle to complete their ambitious casino projects. And in Chicago, he said he believes the financial hurdles now confronting Bally’s — including an $800 million construction funding gap and a buyout offer from its largest shareholder that’s roughly half of what it was two years ago — are infinitely worse.

As we've been saying for years, Chicago missed it's casino window by a decade. Anything from this point forward would be a money-pit boondoggle (thanks Rahm and Groot!)

Unless....perhaps someone could come up with an alternative plan?

  • “The one thing I’m certain of is we’re not going to have that full project by the end of 2026. … Whether there’s something in the permanent spot by 2026 — that’s going to be determined. I would not be surprised if we wind up with, ‘Let’s just get a better temporary casino. Build it out. It’s not going to cost as much. It’s the next best thing.’”

You mean like.....McCormick Place? Seconds away from existing convention space (captive audience), plenty of parking, the 5,000 seat Aire Crown theater to draw in more crowds, already hard-wired for thousands of gaming machines, able to handle tens-of-thousands of persons immediately, attached hotel space, easily adaptable room for restaurants, dining, high-roller games.

Too bad it would take a mayor with balls to pull the trigger.

McCormick Place.

On the lakefront.

Ample parking, at much more than a nomimal fee.

Solid structure, well capable of being modified to multiple levels as desired.

Huge spaces.

Plus the new structure a bit west, already so sweetly laid out to need minimal modifications.

Perfect for Mega Casino Magic.

Yet, no grifter graft to be had.

Thus, no deal.

A casino in McCormick doesn't benefit CTU, so it's not gonna happen...

Anyhoo, I find it ironic that "The House" got busted out by the Chiraqi Crooks... Hilarious.

Gotta get more popcorn...

It actually started under Mayor Daley.
Daley had a chance to get a casino in his administration and Daley said no to a casino in Chicago by saying he did want Chicago to be the Las Vegas of the Midwest!
How did that work out?
Chicago then got ringed by all the casinos like Joliet, Elgin, Aurora and even Indiana.
Instead the dope Moron Daley sold the parking meters and spent the money!

The casino isn’t the answer.
The answer is locking up and pushing out undesirables from Chicago.

A cleaned up Chicago will attract the money of the world.

There is only one correct location for a Chicago casino.

Make it part of the great and glorious 0bama library complex.

19 acres in Jackson Park,"That building, designed by Moody Nolan, the firm that designed the Wintrust Arena, will open to the public in October 2025, foundation officials said. It will have an NBA-size basketball court, an homage to Obama’s love of the sport."

Mostly I believe 0bama loved himself and not so much B-ball.

CPS employees and locals could be given top placement for any new jobs not taken by the politically connected.

Trade shows don't want a casino that close to their exhibits. If they did, they would book the show in Vegas.

Conehead is once again holding the bag o shit. He is the best stooge and fall guy for the Democrats/CTU. As Chicago slips quietly into the abyss, every mayor since old man Daley were looking for their version of the "CHUMP". Enter the Conehead. It's all smiles and glitz because everyone knows Brandon will be a one term trick pony - a fall guy.

So, bring out Brandon's makeup lady, get more of those anti panic pills and don't forget the popcorn. This fool is going to be fun to watch.

Well if Chicago missed the casino boat too bad. Two new casinos planned one in Rockford, Illinois where the Clock Tower Inn was and is scheduled to open late August 2024. A second Ho Chunk property has just been approved by Rock County Wisconsin and the City of Beloit with construction beginning soon right off of I90/39 less than a mile north of the Illinois state line. Hard Rock Casino and Ho Chunk Nation are betting that the casino craze isn’t over. The usual story tho is anything the politicians in Chicago do gets screwed up.

It's stories like this that make me realize that Chicago is not a world class city, but has become a world class joke. We went out on the first round of picks on the Olympics, and the only national news about Chicago is usually about the violence in our streets.

I have always wondered why Chicago doesn't have an "entertainment" district. The fact is, so many people need to be paid off to get council permit approval, and during day-to-day operations there are people who need to "make their cut" it is just not feasible anymore. Ask anyone doing business at one of our airports.

Just like SCC said, "The window has closed." There is already a successful casino right across the border from Chicago and it is much safer to go there, than downtown Chicago.

Another swing and a miss for Chicago

How is it legal to sign a 75 year contract? How many years are left on that parking meter deal? What about all the new bike lanes taking out parking spots. Does the city pay the company for the lost spots. Bicyclists should pay for registration and city stickers. All of those curb cuts and concrete islands cost money. The potholes should be replaced with new streets, not bike lanes.

As inflation guts average people's budgets, fewer and fewer people will have money to gamble and party. Bally's appears to have serious issues right now, and no surprise if they bail on a permanent casino. The money ain't there, and the house hates to lose.

Actually, I think most of the blame goes back to Richie Daley for refusing a riverboat casino which allowed smaller cities in Illinois to rack in the cash. Then, when the state changed the law to allow land based casinos , Chicago had to compete with everyone. Richie did a lot to harm this town, selling the Skyway, the parking meters, destroying Meigs airfield, not funding the pensions, passing out tax money to his friends. He was smart, he took his city and country pension and had them rolled into his state senate pension. He should be in jail

My father used to work for the decorator's union, who put in a set up all the expositions at McCormick Place. That entire facility was rigged and wired to become a casino for years! With the lack of trade shows coming in lately, it makes complete sense to utilize MP as a casino. But of course, it makes sense, so it won't be done.

Supply and demand. Too much supply, not enough demand. Casinos are like cigarette companies. They have to generate new customers to replace the ones who leave or die, every year.
I worked at Bally. Slot machines, sports betting, betting on your phone. The James Bond Casino Royale days are done. The slot machines are the cocaine of betting. No real strategy, instant gratification.

I was convinced by a 16yr old Nobel Prize Winning Swedish She/It-ologist a few years past that the Gaming Industry, with its ubiquitous squandering of ENERGY & Environmental Terrorism had caused un-told destruction of our Earth! Something the Modern Left stands vehemently opposed to and would NEVER condone! The Thesis & Conclusion of she/it's Doctoral Dissertation ,covering the depths of The Gaming Industry in America, had proven that it had STOLEN this young doctor's Entire swedish Childhood! So, we probably shouldn't build it, shouldn't tax the fuck out of it,no tax on parking and all the gamers for gaming..forget that added "congestion" tax also (there goes the Ozone Layer, Again!). Can't Tax the immeasurable amounts of energy which run the Ausperger/Thundberg Stim-machines. The same machines which Humans hump the measley reward for their prescious labor back into the FatAss pockets of huckster-cucks like Prickster, PRICKwinkle, or Mayor BJ, who looks like the on-the-DL-by-product of the sodomy of Malcolm-X by PuffDiddles. When I heard they were going to put the casino in the footprint of the old tribune building, I said to myself... Self! Next to Garfield Park and Englewood Thats one the dumbest locations they could put it, and who got paid off. Halsted or Chicago Avenues are the only access other than the river. Those streets are congested now one lane in each direction. McCormick place makes a lot of sense because you only have to defend the north, south and west sides. The shit heads sink.
