Judge Reassigned and other Quick Hits

That judge who kept releasing domestic offenders on no bail finally got taken out of Domestic Court:

  • The Cook County judge who refused to detain a man charged with a violent domestic attack in October, about a month before the man went on to kill his wife, has been permanently removed from domestic violence cases. That’s one of the announcements made Thursday night by Cook County Chief Judge Timothy Evans. Evans’ press release came just hours after Chicago’s police oversight investigators released video and other evidence related to the November 19 stabbing in Portage Park, which was witnessed by an off-duty Chicago police officer.

He's now in Traffic Court, which as we remember, is where they put new judges, judges under various punishments, and morons.

In addition to the questions everyone was posting about the FOP spending 80K for a new truck, we're now getting a couple emails about a Field Rep who got her own PPP loan for $2,000 for a sole proprietorship of a "performing art company." By the way, there is no record of this company ever existing. The "loan" was forgiven, meaning the $2,000 was essentially a gift from taxpayers.

John Kass, among others, have opined that the California wildfires and subsequent revelations of the utter incompetency of democrat governance there for the past forty years, might actually swing the state toward the Red side of things.

While it might be an interesting theoretical exercise and in the short term could result in a right-leaning law maker or two sent to DC, the fact of the matter is that the mental illness that pervades California politics and voters is probably too far gone to produce any real change.

Anyone doubting it, just take a look at Minnesota and how red they voted after St. George of Fentanyl and the following months of riots and looting and burning.

The Contrarian has a deeper look at the 007 Pilot Program allowing felony gun charges to be approved by the Watch Operations Lieutenant, bypassing Felony Review. This is going to have to be studied over the long term to see if any impact can be made on what is wisely recognized as the second crappiest neighborhood in Chicago after the Austin/North Lawdale area.
