- The Indiana House Republican Caucus announced its intent on Tuesday
to redraw state lines and welcome dozens of Illinois counties that want
to secede from their state.
”To all of our neighbors to the west, we hear your frustrations,” Indiana Speaker Todd Huston said.
According to Speaker Huston, more than 30 Illinois counties have voted to secede from the Prairie State since 2020, with many expressing frustrations with high taxes.
”Instead of seceding and creating a 51st state, they should just join us,” Speaker Huston said.
If HB 1008 passes, the Indiana General Assembly would create an “Indiana-Illinois Boundary Adjustment Commission” tasked with helping those Illinois counties become part of the Hoosier State.
Unfortunately, it will probably remain just a hope as we can't really see the Illinois legislature assisting this in any way. Even though it would undoubtedly be a good thing in their eyes to get rid of thirty or more red-voting counties, there's just no way they give up the land to Indiana.
They might fund buses and U-Hauls to move the citizens out as long as they abandoned their property to resettle illegals.

Was lifelong resident of southern Crook County until 5 years ago when I moved a short distance across the IL IN border into Saint John IN. Best move I ever made. No need to try to pass legislation that has zero chance. If you’ve had enough of the awful Chicago and Springfield cabal politics, just move out of IL. You can’t change stupid, so just say bye bye to it.

18 homes on my block in Munster. Over the past 8 years 9 homes went on the market. 9 sold to people from Illinois. All welcomed as long as they leave their political leanings at the boarder. I know 7 of the 9 and fortunately they are all conservative!
It’s actually going to happen with Trump. Remember the boundaries of Illinois were drawn by federal oversight and will be redrawn with federal oversight. Alaska and Greenland will merge, Panama and Florida will merge, and a few others.

Indiana is just as corrupt as Illinois. I know first hand, as I watched the clerk treasurer fight the local board, the chief of police (also the town administrator )and DA. CLERK went to the FzBI, state and he ended up arrested bt chief of police. The DA proceeded to prosecuted the Clerk for deleted emails. Who deleted emails, probably the chief as he controlled the server. Why weren't the email backed up to the server? The DA had a public melt down and admitted to corruption.

Indiana is as bad as Illinois. I witnessed it first hand, as the clerk treasurer tried to manage expenses and the office. The town council, police chief (formally the chief of a neighboring city) ran the town into the ground, and gave away town property to an llc. The corruption goes from local to downstate, as the clerk reported to the Stare agencies with documents. The clerk was arrested and prosecuted by the DA. The DA melted down at a county board meeting about corruption in his office, local towns and the judicial system. The clerk was charged with deleting emails (felonies). Why were the emails and computers properly backed up, ask the chief. The chief controlled the systems and server and had everyone passwords. Go figure.
NWI is just as corrupt.

Illinois would have to agree to let Indiana have the counties. If you think Illinois would let Cook County and Chicago go anywhere, you're not very bright. Illinois politicians need Chicago and Cook County in order to make their money and run their scams. There's zero chance that any of this will occur anyway, but an infinitely smaller chance that Cook County would ever be included.
And what brings you to this blog? I assume you're from Cook/Chicago, yet you're now in Indiana. Those who would move to Indiana to avoid the Chicago politics and bullshit are exactly who Indiana should want and need. No one who buys into all that shit would move to Indiana. Also, Indiana is closer to many of us than other parts of Chicago are. It's not some secret fantasy land that we've never heard of. We know about the politics, the taxes, the real estate prices, etc. Some of us are just stuck in Illinois because of poor career decisions. You can't play the "we're full" and "keep your Cook/Chicago out of Indiana" cards when you moved there from Cook/Chicago. It just makes you sound stupid. If I'm wrong, and you're originally from Indiana, I'll go back to my original question: what brings you here? Is Indiana too boring for you, so much so that you need to visit Chicago blogs for excitement?

The former Sheriff of Lake County, Indiana is ina federal prison serving a 12 year sentence for corruption. The mayor of a small town near the lake dipped into his campaign funds to pay his gambling debts. Served his sentence in home confinement.
The city attorney of East Chicago was gunned down leaving a fundraiser attended by 400 people. Of course, there were no witnesses. The mayor of East Chicago and the Sidewalks for Votes scandal caught several city council members who were charged with crimes. One of the council members took a duck to Greece to avoid a prison sentence. Heard he was driving a cab there. So much pollution in the air, water, and soil but IDEM looks the other way. Do the research before so you know what to expect. New location but same problems.

Illinoisans seeking a Hoosier refugee status should refer to themselves as migrants or asylum seekers. Governor fatass and his slimy democrat legislators want to deny your human rights for less taxes, your expectation of less political corruption, your right for amnesty across known borders and defiant denial of reasonable real estate taxes without CTU lobbyists artificially inflating property taxes on behalf the special interests teacher's unions. IL counties along US 20 go to Wisconsin. IL NW counties go to Iowa. IL SW counties go to Missouri. IL SE counties go to Kentucky. IL EC counties go to Indiana. Cook County left to it's circular firing squad. There, problem solved!

Counties that border Indiana could succeed from Illinois but the matter would probably be appealed all the up to the Supreme Court.
NWI is corrupt?? Please. Really. More Chicago alderpersons alone have gone to jail than the entire history of Lake County, Indiana corruption. Add in all the corrupt cops, judges, etc. sent up the river, and the next ones to go, and you have yet another reason to leave corruption-plagued Illinois.
If you have school-age kids, check the test scores in the communities before you buy a house. Some scores are really bad. A shortage of teachers combined with low salaries results in many school systems relying on substitutes. In Indiana, a sub is not required to have any college credit. Just a high school diploma or a GED. Low taxes have consequences.
