Another $4 Million Gone
Conehead's new School Board needed a new meeting room for some reason....kind of like Mrs Conehead needed 80K in new furniture for an office she wasn't elected to and uses maybe a couple times a month. So they spent $4 million on redecorating this:
We're pretty sure when our kids were in school, the local school board met in the gymnasium or the cafeteria on a monthly basis.
No word about why the board couldn't (A) meet where they always met or (B) met at one of hte underutilized schools that are at 10% capacity of less. Plenty of seating and parking at those locations for anyone who wanted to attend.

They've got money to burn. Your money. Why don't we have school vouchers again?
Brandon needs to be in jail. Someone is scratching someone’s back & getting a kick back. There’s no way a meeting room even with the best tech costs $4 million.
Crazy!
per Sun-Times Nader Issa, "For those asking about the price of the CPS boardroom renovation:
"CPS said the costs were covered under the board's existing lease.
The lease agreement with the owner of the 1 N. Dearborn/42 W. Madison
building fully funded the renovation using a tenant improvement allowance."
#1. What's the cost of the lease per month or per year?
#2. How much has CPS already paid in rent for this lease? And for long has this been leased?
#3. Who does CPS rent from?
#4. Does the leasor(s) contribute to anyone's political campaign
#5. Why couldn't CPS utilize one of the 50 closed school buildings to house the Board members, employees, and meetings?
#6. Why can't the CPS Board rotate from one of their school buildings to another for each meeting?
So many questions of CPS waste in not utilizing their own buildings to house Board meetings
#7. Does the Board really need the spaceship meeting place?
If you google the cpsboe.org, chalkbeat.org chicago board of education and go to images you will see various photos of their “old” meeting rooms. They don’t look outdated. They also have some kind of a meeting room in the Colman Center 4655 S Dearborn. There are other addresses for the board at 1 N Dearborn and 42 w Madison. Years ago I had to go to their downtown office on CPD business. Upon getting up to the floor in this office building which was nice with unrelated business offices. When I walked down the hall all of a sudden the hallway turned into into fancy oak paneling by the CPS office. I thought why do they need oak paneling inside and outside of their offices. Just more crap that we have to pay for that doesn’t help the students.
It is to make them feel important. If they are important then they are competent
same concept when they use big words to sound smart, in their own heads they ARE smart
A popup tent would’ve been more appropriate
Politburo gets what politburo wants. Keep paying your taxes, they need more and more.
“Because they can”
NWO drama. Make the appearance that the board does important things. It’s all theatre.
It’s, First Lady, snorts Mayor Make-up!!! Not Mrs. Conehead, not Stacey!!
Could get a gold microphone like another mayor has....
that looks worse than my 1950's ere salmon-colored bathroom
The fleecing of Taxpayers and the raiding of the city's money continues unabated. Conehead and his minions will take everything that is not tied down.
and what happened to all the cities cracker jack investigative news reporters???
That's what THEY do.
Nobody knows how to manage money or balance a budget.
These idiots spend money for nothing.and half baked ideas that never work out
The Chicago Public schools are a joke.
Kids are the victims.
Taxpayers are victims.
The federal government is a victim.
Only Democrats to blame!
Only the teachers union wins!
News media act like spectators!
Politicians hear nothing, see nothing and lie.
Bet there's a Mayor's Office administrator with a MBE/WBE interior designer-relative getting these interiors contracts. When there's a will, there's a way.
milk crates in a vacant lot sounds more their speed
Mrs. Conehead is awesome.
I think ""who" is the best question
Beacon capital partners is listed as owner of 1 N Dearborn. Not exactly a DEI board either....
Why not use a closed or underutilized school for the board headquarters? That would save a bunch of money.
Yet those big words seldom mean what the speaker thinks they mean. To someone who actually knows those words it makes the speaker sound even more ignorant than they already do.
All the high schools in CPS have auditoriums where the CPS board could meet. In addition, the Cultural Center, Harold Washington Library, Thorne Auditorium at Northwestern, the Studebaker Theater, the Chicago History Museum all have stages and space to hold these meetings.
Yet Brandon wastes $4M to renovate a room. The city is drowning in debt yet Brandon makes another decision to waste more money. Instead of showing restraint, Brandon is reckless and listens to no one except the CTU voices in his head. If Brandon worked in the corporate sector, he’d have been fired long ago for financial mismanagement. Instead, Brandon is the mayor of Chicago and we are stuck with his bad decisions until he is out of office.
Where is Chuck”Crossdresser Goude”?
That money could better be used let’s say more beat cops on beat 811, which is being ravaged by crime. Another lady robbed and beaten in an alley again again today today definitely we need more coppers out here come on boss commander Brian you gotta put some more coppers on the West End. You would think with all the coppers living out this way, we would have some more eyes looking out for the residence, especially in an area that supports the police.
Reporter William J. Kelly calls out MBJ, including the $80K he spent on his wife's office, her $5000 chair, and the 'bank robber' vice mayor. Must see TV.

@Williamjkelly
I THINK BANK ROBBERY IS "INSENSITIVE," MR. MAYOR! At Wednesday's City Hall presser yesterday, Mayor Johnson was more upset about me being "insensitive" and calling Vice Mayor, Ald. Walter Burnett, what he is - a convicted bank robber, than he was about the S&P downgrade of Chicago's credit due to his reckless $17.1 B budget. He dodged my question on whether he's learned anything from LA Mayor Karen Bass' incompetence. He's sending Burnett ($500K+ salary) on an overseas trip at taxpayer expense - and twice refused my question about where Burnett was going, why and at what cost.
Johnson's election as Mayor was always about grift for him and his wife, Stacy. (A $5,000 "First Lady chair," really? ) I don't think he ever cared about Chicago or Chicagoans and....it shows. And, yes, that is Kennedy "F **k the pigs" Bartley ($192K salary) grabbing my mic. Just watch. #thatreporter.
Aren't all these assholes big advocates of working from home via Zoom - pantless
He musta got his advice on dealing with press/people from that Dolton mayor bitch. Always offended and never ashamed.
Wake up and face it the citizens of Chicago and the state are involved in a Ponzi scam and have been for years produced by demorats and their ilk. The game is rigged and were not part of it. Its all for them and we get our garbage pickup and streets cleaned and plowed and that's it.
I wonder if the federal government can do a mass audit of Chicago and CPS? I bet their finding could bring up quiet a few charges.
