We used to take a reprimand or worse missing Beat Tags. Now, we see nearly as many cars without Beat Tags as with.
Is this a new thing for recruiting efforts? Might as well start selling ad space on the quarter panels, fenders and make up some window decals.

If Recruitment & Retention was completely transparent, scanning that QR code on the quarter panel would produce a picture of a fictitious/average CPD “Blue Shirt” being butt fucked by a giant dong emblazoned with the words “what the hell were you thinking”?!?!

There was no recruiting in the early 1970s. You may have had to wait a few years until they announced the test. After you took the test you may have had to wait to be called as the clout people aligned with the politicians were taken care of first. The quotas, (early DEI) came in and destroyed the morale even further. Now not too many want the job. They even lowered the standards. Now they are begging people to take the job. And who caused all this? The Democrat Party did. Remember the Democrats don’t work to help the people, they work to help their party by consolidating power to rule the people. The Chicago Democrat Party owns the mess that they created.

Used to be I'd see 10 police cars on my way to work, now I see zip unless it's one heading the hell out and back home on the Dan Ryan. What good would ad space be when the cars aren't out and about?

Went to dinner and beat tag got stolen. Did a GOCR and dropped it in the in basket. Sure enough got stopped by inspector who wanted to know where beat tag was. He followed us into the station and the look on his face was priceless when he saw that GOCR.
No one wants to join, no good candidates are hired unless they fit the agenda/check box program/zip code, and they don't want rehires or laterals. They want stupid spineless turd radical progressive gangbanging kids. Glad I'm collecting my paycheck doing nothing but my calls.
The recruiting unit is a joke. If I was thinking about joining this shitty organization and saw the clowns that are the recruiting people I’d walk the other way.
Back in the early 80's, the idea of advertising on marked police vehicles was floated to the rank and file. As I recall, CPD po's made it very clear that we would be just as low as a taxi cab. Thank God this idea was killed.

There's a program on the station computers that allows you to print up your own beat tag. Just attach it to cardboard, and bingo....
They're only used for scraping ice off the windows.
Why don’t they make beat tags that can’t be removed and have it blue tooth ready to have the numbers implemented according to its beat?! Im retired and remember when we had to hand them in after the tour ended and they were always broken in half because some nitwit put it in the back pockets and sat on it. This would have to be only handled by a sergeant or above because knowing us idiot PO’s everyone would punch in 6969 or something fun like that. Viola!

Great training at the academy recently. During a "narcotics street stop" scenario, a recruit was found with real narcotics.
Would today's millennials pass Big Bird's inspection?

Stop it already you clowns.. this is no different then the cars at the academy that have beat tags that read training. Obviously this isnt a beat car.. the beat tag to identify what beat the car is ... this best tag identifies it is part of the retention unit which is what the bosses know when they see it .. 99% of the public doesn't know what the numbers or letters in a tag mean so its more for internal identification when used. This was a pretty stupied post .. how about using the same content but posting a picture of all the cars that drive around without a beat tag.

In the early 2000s there was a few Crown Vics that had a new style light bar with the beat in the middle lit up with LEDs that you can change the numbers. Apparently never took off.

# on a car and beat tags have different roles you PPO .. beats used to keep the same car for all 3 watches... but then when the car had to go in for service a pool car would be its replacement until fixed, ie why the need for a beat tag. The dept was never up to speed on technology so changing a car # everytime it was changed out for a pool car would have takr to much time and effort, since it couldn't be done on the fly
So.... having a beat tag solved that probelm. Plus the inspectors driving around didnt havr a manifest with the beats and their corresponding car numbers to know where that car should or shouldn't be when they saw it.
Get some time on the job and off the tic tok clown.. so you know wtf to speak and when not to speak
