David Ross passed the strenuous test to join the Chicago Police Department’s mounted patrol in 2023 by, among other things, climbing onto a horse, lifting five bales of hay and moving a 1,200 pound dumpster.
The only problem: Officer Ross was on medical leave at the time and was supposed to be recovering from an “unbearable” knee injury sustained during an on-duty crash, police records show.
Police investigators recommended he be fired for violating the department’s leave policy, according to the city’s Civilian Office of Police Accountability.
But this is what Larritorious signs off on for "merit" sergeant and now "merit" lieutenant:
- when Yau she was a PO and was on IOD limited duty she was caught running the chicago marathon and instead of her being fired she only took 10 days and subsequently since then was merit sgt and now merit LT,
We guess if you're heavy enough, you can get away with all sorts of violations of Department rules....like banging recruits on a regular basis.

Hopefully that officer has a Doctors note from his doctor that he was allowed to participate in the process. I was on medical for a surgery and I had permission to go to the gym to exercise. I ended up not going on my own even though I should have for my mental and physical health. I did end up having to go to the gym multiple times because my therapist had me go to do exercises he wanted me to complete during my physical therapy (occupational therapy) sessions. This is another reason why we need a discipline matrix’s.

I don't question a person's injuries or need to use the medical (especially when the boss or work environment suuuck) But I do take issue with (M.D. of 003) who for the past 5 yrs has been paid as an FTO rank though she's been inside (came from HQ) IOD Light Duty. If you haven't been able to have a ppo for over a yr of iod you shouldn't been receiving from pay.
Some years ago the department conducted a study of officers who use the medical rolls. The results were so embarrassing and damning that they refused to release it outside a select few gold stars. i was in R&D at the time and had a glance at it. The results were not kind to women, especially black women so the report was buried.
Medical Integrity unit is about to take down some of the frequent scammers and people making false IOD claims.
At least you’re answering phones inside. Some officers were handed termination papers(stripped/no pay status) at first BIA meeting which took place at the END of their tours. Sit the year out on medical instead. Don’t push a beat car on a Monday and be no pay on Tuesday, idiots!

I see. If you are connected, and you get caught faking an injury, you get promoted twice for merit. If you get caught and your not connected, you get fired. Retired now. Took 3 sergeant’s tests. Saw my scores lowered on each when the city imposed a different Affirmative Action protocol on each test score. The city never explained any of the processes. The CPD thinks that Merit is a synonym for nepotism and favoritism.

Along comes the last lieutenants test and despite much greater competition from prior rank order promotee’s they suddenly become brilliant and are top scorers and promoted from the list! Bullshit. And I’m not bitter because I took three tests and while not in the top 100 still nailed two to make dick and sergeant. I’m bitter because there were blue shirts who could work rings around me and will retire with that same blue shirt.
