Again, with the Quick Hits

As we look at the devastation in New Orleans, stories you might have missed:
  • 1,000 casualties in a bridge disaster in Iraq. Over 600 dead when someone shouted "suicide bomber" on a crowded span.
  • You still think Europe has the right economic ideas that we ought to copy here? Only if you want to DOUBLE the unemployment rates.
  • PowerLineBlog takes the ny times to task for its "gloom, doom, we're all gonna die poor and broke" article about the alleged "rise" in the poverty numbers. As usual, the ny times is full of shit.
  • Com-Ed looks to raise rates again. Someone stop these people. Please.
  • Despite her claims that this was a politically motivated prosecution, congressweasel jan schakowski's husband, pleads guilty to bank fraud and tax evasion. Apologies forthcoming jan? Didn't think so. Being a democrat means never having to defend slander or libel.

Have you been to Europe recently, Dearest Blogmeister? Their unemployment numbers might be higher on paper- but I was across the pond recently and the quality of life seemed pretty good to me- awesome in fact! Don't let all those "dead-ender" righty blogs you love sour you on the E.U.- that would be a shame- I bet a summer furlough over there would do our previous race-baiting poster a world of good! Even the "freedom fries" congressman Wally Jones has stopped sniffing the BushCo. glue of late and can see clearly now- sacre bleu! (click on my name above to see the story...)

Dear Mr. Freedom Fries, I've been to Navy Pier, Watertower, and Millenium Park! Chicago is wonderful, I think I'll move to a great little neighborhood called Englewood. Don't judge a book by it's cover. You don't know how good you have it here. Just ask my western European immigrant relatives how great the quality of life is across the pond.

New Orleans greatfully and graciously has donated 350,000 african americans to the State of Texas.

They were donated "as is". Clothing covered in human waste waters and bio hazards. Haven't showered or bathe in a while. Hungry and Thristy.

Texas welcomed these new residents with open arms. Saying, hell at least they are Americans and they came into our state from the east side of our state border!

Touche mon frere! Hey- your relatives' mileage may vary... (details please!) but the Oesterreich & Germany have been a paradise-like breath of fresh air on summer furloughs the last five years... (despite us going from 20% up to 20% down on the exchange rate)

I'm just trying to say that as we sometimes seem to get a bit jaded here in sweet home Chicago from time from having to "take out the garbage" on a daily basis in our "blue collar" vocation... it's just so nice to see how the the "other half" lives now and then- (beautiful 007 notwithstanding, of course!)

Hey M!

You take ComEd to task for a rise in rates, but what about the Bush-backed oil companies?

Just a day after the disaster down South, gasoline prices skyrocket! Let's see, the gasoline was placed into the tanks at one price, and while still there the prices are raised.

I could understand a few weeks from now raising prices, as there are possible setbacks from Katrina, but why now? I'll tell you why. The oil companies are taking advantage of a tragedy, but that's more money into the pockets of the Bush family.

The president supposedly released the oil reserves. Shouldn't that give us price relief for a bit? There has been media reports of price gouging by stores down South, but the price raping of oil companies goes virtually unnoticed.

Gas in Chicago will be over 4.00 a gallon by the end of the week.

Bet on it, it's a lock!

Daley should be crying soon and have 1/2 the force on Mopeds before Sept. 15 LOL

Just keep those immigrants from Louisiana in Texas cause we are still feelin the effect the last migrations(1920's-30's-40's) had in Chicago. Look and Englewood and south Chicago!!!!! just build them some projects and liquor stores in Texas and they will be fine.....
