Would you look at this? We post a little article poking fun at the City and the Department not sending anyone to help out in New Orleans after a large portion of their police department resigned and right afterwards, they're asking for applicants and resumes for coppers wanting to go south. We're betting that the mayor or his people opened the papers this morning and discovered that the suburbs were sending all sorts of stuff and by golly, they weren't going to be shown up by a bunch of suburban departments! Now it looks like they might be sending a sizable force along with all sorts of heavy weapons and equipment.
And we are going to shamelessly take credit (along with our readers and commentators) for suggesting they do it. Way to go people!

I think, perhaps, maybe my rantings,er I mean my thoughtful insights(s), here have awakened the liberal side of the folks visiting here.

Is anyone really surprised? If you flooded the 007th district and the police left they would act the same way. The only thing preventing it is the fear of punishment. Obviously that fear has been removed in N.O. They need to start shooting some looters. Then it will calm down.

It's just that your initial post sounded lot like a few other recent ones that we're pretty harsh and defeatist in general and I'm getting sick of that tone- us boys in blue begin to sound as "victimized" as the mutts we lock up and serve at times and that is never good. Surely much of what you have expressed is no doubt true in general involving the A.A. underclass. I called both, Operations Command 1st Dep. Office and F.O.P. 7 on Wed.
I asked how can I volunteer to go down to the effected areas. I am currently on furlough. So wasn't even asking to use dept. time.
The 1st Dep. office ( a female P.O. Answered) when I posed the question about if Chicago is sending any officers down and how I can volunteer.
Her answer was, "Why would we send people down there" and then followed with "I haven't heard anything about us sending anyone"
F.O.P. responded with, "Check with the Grand Lodge, the FOP Grand Lodge President is from down there, maybe they know if they need anybody.
This whole mess was a cluster F*%k from the start to present.
