Timing is everything

Here's the post we were going to put up first thing after dinner this evening:
  • Has anyone else noticed that the minute, and we mean the EXACT MINUTE, that rev. meeks went public with his side of the "racial profiling" allegations, it dropped off of everyone's radar. DROPPED. Like a lead freaking balloon in zero gravity. If it disappeared any faster, it might have created a whirlpool of destruction in the space-time continuum from which even light could not escape. Wow. You think maybe it was an overhyped BS allegation to begin with? Hmmmmm.

That is the problem you run into sometimes while blogging: you hold back a story or two so you have something for the slow days, and you get blindsided when they actually resolve the case you wrote about. Damn it.

Sergeant cleared. End of story. NO PROFILING!!!

UPDATE: If we were this sergeant, we would be suing the shit out of everyone involved. The Chicago Police Department brass and the City administration hung this man out to dry and aided and abetted the media in what can only be called a lynching. He was held up to ridicule, had his judgment questioned, was accused of racial profiling, convicted by BOSSES in the media before a hearing had EVEN BEEN CONDUCTED and basically made a whipping boy for behavior that hasn't been tolerated on this department for a decade or more. We are sure that this "incident" has cost this sergeant quite a bit of emotional stress. We could certainly name the first three defendants on the slander, libel and infliction of emotional distress lawsuits. We hope he can find a judge who will rule that as the defendants were acting outside of the scope of their official capacities, THEY are on the hook for damages and not the taxpayers. At the very least, he might settle for a lieutenant's slot and maybe even a gold star. Remember, they gave one to someone who wore a wire.

From the article..."Driving while black" was the offense, Rush said.

At least bobby rush didn't offer up any intelligent excuse, like the driver going through the stop sign.

Let's see the apologies start pouring in now...

(1) The "PUSSIFICATION" of the CPD continues. Written reprimand, my ass! See Muller v. Conlisk, et al. 429 F.2d 901 (7th Circuit-1967).

(2) Fuck Bobby Rush! I'll never forget when I was cuffing an auto thief on his belly on the street. A mob gathered and led by one loudmouth ("You just love fuckin' with us brothahs. Let him go, Pig!") mother fucker, tried to take my prisoner away. MY black and white BROTHERS bailed me out. Recovered steal with one auto thief in custody at 011.

The loudmouth??? The then "Deputy Minister of Defense" for the Illinois Black Panther Party, nka the Congressman from the 1st Congressional District of Illinois--the "Honorable" Bobby Rush.

Fuck Bobby Rush!

I just saw Rev Meeks comments in response to the Sgt getting a reprimand He refers to himself as the Revrend senator what the hell is that. He is an arrogant SOB. I am begining to understand why so many African Americans are saying he doesnt represent me.

Who ever said Meeks is the spokesman for the African-American community?

Two sides to the coin.

On the one hand, I'm not sure that they ever named the sergeant in public, and they are being very careful (it seems) not to do so now. That said, I'm sure his coworkers know who he is.

On the other, they upheld a reprimand for using foul language. I'd love to see that alone added to a civil Complaint by the guy. He could get me and 10-12000 others to swear in court that we were taught to do WHATEVER is required to maintain control of a situation, and this includes USING FOUL LANGUAGE.

I'm also pretty sure we could get almost anyone to testify that they've heard each and every one of his accusers use foul languages on the public at some point.

Seriously, I'd love this parting shot by the city's idiots to be turned on them. Its hypocritical on its face, and holds the sergeant to a standard to which almost none of us are held.

Thanks Fatso!

Heard his accusers use foul language!? How bout Cline? Anybody ever hear him use profamity in public, and not just to control a situation! What about Starks? Radke? Any and every boss on the Department! How can they enforce a rule against one person how probably had cause to use foul language and not reprimand themselves? Every working cop has had to use this type of language and stick their guns in peoples faces, not just down at the ground. It's what keeps us alive. They say Cline and Staks were the working police so they must have been there. What hypocrites.

Oops!

When I used the term "accusers", I meant that to include Cline et al.

A few things I'd like to see in my lifetime:

1.) Have a gathering of 5000 officers at 4101 S. Federal to raise a glass to Michael Ceriale;

2.) See da horse's ass on 5, former Superintendent mumbles and a host of others publicly apologize to Van Watts; and

3.) See Cline and the rest of the clown posse defend themselves in court by saying they've never sworn at anyone.

Just in case anyone here didn't know, the Sgt. in question's name has been published. First he was named by Meeks in his press release the day after the traffic stop. The Sgt. was then named in the Defender (surprise, surprise) the Sun Times, Jet magazine (surprise again), Fox 32 news, and WGN channel 9, there may be more for all I know. And if you relly want to know who he is call 005, everybody there knows who it is.

Who cares who the Sergeant is. I want to buy him a beer! Dont take any shit from anybody on the street or on the job. 99% of all the bosses on this job have cherry's for balls. I say stop kissing all that ass and start kicking it.

My point was... if his name wasn't mentioned publicly, it would be way harder to show how he was libeled or slander or whatever. Particularly the harm part. Not like he's losing business.

But if he was named (as the poster above states) by a bunch of sources that I don't read (Meeks' press releases, the Defender), than it seems like maybe harm/damages might be the only issue.

Was the only source of the name Meeks, or did Cline or any other boss ever name the sergeant? If so, I'd add any boss who did so to the suit, at least for contributing to the damages.

And, FWIW, I am in no way suggesting that his name should be repeated on this site. If I knew who he was (and I'm pretty sure I could find out in 3 seconds), I'd probably want to buy him a beer too.

Like one of the above posts say, Cline was allegedly "the real police" once upon a time. Actions speak louder than words! Once you're named to his position, any and all thinking of your own go right out the window. They will kiss ass and sell their soul to the devil to appease "little dicky". Cline was a perfect example. Meet with Meeks, give him a hug & say that these actions will not be tolerated, before the investigation is complete. I hope this fellow Sgt sues everyone involved and takes a nice long vacation with his family with the $$$ from this lawsuit. Someone has to stand up to these hypocrites!!

I know officers are held to higher standards but here is a interesting fact, the city recently removed the "indecent acts or words" ordinance from the anov book because someone sued the city and the department when he was cited for that offence and won in the supreme court. If I was that sgt I would talk to a good lawyer and see if he has a case against the city and Meeks
