Shoveling BS

Big posting - but worth a read

The professional race baiters have started to come out of the woodwork questioning whether the slow federal response to New Orleans is because ::gasp:: New Orleans is 67% black. Somebody, please, shut these people up. And the "Blame Bush" crowd? Let's destroy the BS coming out of the left side of the political spectrum one at a time, ok?
  • The "underfunded levee construction" theory. Complete BS as it turns out. Read the Tribune article here; Michelle Malkin debunks numerous Republican bashings, linking to dozens of articles showing how Louisiana democrats shorted New Orleans flood control. THIS WAS A COMPLETELY FORESEEABLE EVENT AND HAS BEEN EXPECTED FOR DECADES. Flood control is a municipal function and, if necessary, the state may pitch in. Of course, these are all democrats in Louisiana, so it must be Bush's fault. Read HogOnIce for his take on this situation.
  • Federal relief is slow because New Orleans is a "black" city. Gateway Pundit takes on the master race baiter himself, Jesse Jackson, who arrived in New Orleans after spending a week with dictators Chavez and Castro. Jesse claims that (surprise) blacks are being shut out managerial positions in the relief efforts. Firstly, if blacks are being shut out of these positions, its a local problem. Local government was first on the scene and first in charge. The federal effort is just swinging into action and the general in charge of the effort covering THREE STATES, is (wait for it) Black! Like so much of what comes out of Jesse's mouth, his story is complete horse shit again.
  • Bush and the Governor of Mississippi are to blame for "global warming" which supercharged Katrina and wrecked the gulf states. More BS. Governors don't vote to ratify treaties. And as any intelligent person knows, bill clinton sent the Kyoto treaty to the senate in 1997 where it lost 95-0. NINETY-FIVE TO ZERO! How many democrats voted for the bill in 1997? Oh yeah. ZERO! Kyoto will not pass in this country when we would be the only economy wrecked by it. Even democrats aren't that stupid. Here's a link to debunk the global warming theories.
  • The federal government hasn't provided buses to evacuate poor residents. Even before Katrina hit, the mayor of New Orleans knew there were poor folks who couldn't get out. So did he use any of these? (go see the picture). Oops. 364 buses in New Orleans that could have moved over 20,000 people PER TRIP to safer ground. (thanks to Billhobbs.com for picture and link). Even an hour or two out of New Orleans means 9 round trips in 36 hours - DO THE MATH! But transit buses were used to move people TO the Superdome instead - the scene of at least 4 murders, two suicides and countless rapes while these buses sat idle and are now useless.
  • The Federal government's response is slow. Duh. Bush admitted as much. If you want something done efficiently, you certainly don't hire the government to do it. Government is slow, full of red tape and only hires the lowest bidder. If anyone wanted it to move quicker, they would have held evacuation drills and mass destruction practices. Governments don't like to hold those to often because they (a) only expose how inefficient and ill prepared they are and (b) keep citizens from doing things that actually matter, like doing their jobs and keeping the economy moving forward. You can't shut down a city the size of New Orleans to practice evacuating it. You'd have to shut down highways and airports and pull buses out of circulation and doctors out of emergency rooms where there are real cases to be treated - it's impossible.
  • And to top it all off, this 64 year old black writer, says the remaining residents of New Orleans have begun eating their dead (hat tip to HogOnIce again). No attribution. No eyewitnesses. No independent verification. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Just anything to bash Bush.
Maybe the left ought to shut up, grab some shovels and use them to help clean up the mess instead of slinging bulls@#$.

I called both, Operations Command 1st Dep. Office and F.O.P. 7 on Wed.

I asked how can I volunteer to go down to the effected areas. I am currently on furlough. So wasn't even asking to use dept. time.

The 1st Dep. office ( a female P.O. Answered) when I posed the question about if Chicago is sending any officers down and how I can volunteer.

Her answer was, "Why would we send people down there" and then followed with "I haven't heard anything about us sending anyone"

F.O.P. responded with, "Check with the Grand Lodge, the FOP Grand Lodge President is from down there, maybe they know if they need anybody.

This whole mess was a cluster F*%k from the start to present.

So I was thinking...Do I get from behind my desk job and go down to New Orleans as part of the CPD volunteer system. Or do I go down there as a private security officer for $100.00 per hour. Well the obvious choice ran through my veins. $12,000 for ten days!!! Fuckin A!!!

Then I saw the mayor of New Orleans on T.V. blaming everyone for the poor evacuation efforts. Yet, he is the mayor of the city. I'm sure that this scenario has been played out before. It was his choice to send thousands to the Louisiana Superdome. Wait!! Half his police department quit on him. And I have yet to see an ambulance of fire engine down there.

And now there's talk of looting, carjacking, raping, and killing. Maybe I could get a few kills under my belt. Naw..Let the savages kill each other.

I'll stay right here...above sea level.

Reportedly N.O. has a population of 30% that live below poverty level...now this has been a stable statistic and exsisted way before Katrina.......Where was the money and help then??N.O. has a Black mayor...what did he do to improve 30% of the population of N.O. lives and living conditions??I believe it had been talked about for years what would happen to a city that is 7 feet below sea level if a hurrican hit.........and the best you can do is ship people to the superdome?? How long did it take Jackson to go to N.O?? Why didn't he visit the superdome...he could have preached....lets see he could have told everyone that thefucking reason that they are here is because of the white man...how about Jacksons sons with their budweiser clout ...provide jobs for ...hmm lets say...50,000 people...its what they expect the government to do......how about Meeks going down to N.O. and bringing back 22,000 pople that could live in his big church and be supported by his big money.....Come on guys open your homes and hearts...show the world your not just trying to make political hay out of this situation. I say to those with the power to help..really help....look at the land...pick sites....build houses that resemble neighborhoods....furnish these homes...make them like a army base if you can'nt come up with anything better...habitate for Humanity could certianlly help...Billions of dollars are going to be available for aid....offer the pople that want to come back ..the job of cleaning up the city...they should be then gainfully employed for awhile at least...this would give them some control over the devastation ......or maybe we would rather just sit back and point fingers and blame everyone from god to Global warming....for our lack of insight....

I ain't gone yet, sweetbabyray, but I am planning on it, as a volunteer, although that $100 an hour could buy alot of commercial time for Ralph Nader in '08.

Despite all the postings of our beloved M., the fact remains the government initially dropped the ball. Vast amounts of federal troops should have been deployed the following morning.

Even YOUR president admitted yesterday response has not been sufficient. Where was that post, M? It's your blog, and you do not have to be unbiased, but to condemn the left and Democrats is crazy. Something with those levys should have been done 20 years ago, no matter who the administration.

Why even the once-beloved right leader (and aldulteer) Newt came out and said response is insufficient. Admit it, the feds dropped the ball.

Oh yea, I like that photo op yesterday with the President and the white guy in front of his levelled Biloxi house. What a disgrace. The man (Bush) has no shame! Didn't see him in downtown New Orleans.

30% below poverty level? Like I give a F#$&! That is somehow my fault? I'm sure they're all out hunting for jobs every day, but all the positions for "professional looter" have been filled. Believe it or not, America was not founded upon the principle of more government. If you want socialism please move China or Cuba. How come in America the poor are fatter than the rich? It sickens me to go to big fat Mama's with the ambulance after she stubb's her toe and listen to her talk about how poor she is as we drive away from her recently refurbished section 8 home which is stocked with free food from LINK and stolen cable on the big screen. Lets not forget baby's daddy #6 who is poor also. He will be asking you what took you so long to get there. Meanwhile his Escalade is parked out front and he is generating dual tax-free income by baby sitting his own kids and selling weed. How is it that every immigrant that comes to this country can make a buck? Oh yeah its because they are willing to go to work. They come from the parts of the world where poor people go hungry. If you want to go help all those who where either too stupid to leave or just wanted to stick around to get their loot and pilage on, go ahead (dummies). Every moron/citizen of N.O. when interviewed has asked "What are THEY going to do for us?" Who is this they? What are They going to do for ME? I need a new garage. I hope They can get around to building me one if They have any left over lumber.

and along those lines, what exactly is Chicago's evacuation plan?

I suggested to a friend in a very important operational-level position to ask. He asked a person who is currently one of the top 3 emergency officials in Chicago, and was told that it was on a "need to know" basis, and he didn't "need to know".

I dare each and every one of you to ask your watch or unit commanders if they have been given ONE FUCKING CLUE about what the plan is for Chicago.

Why, you might ask, should we worry? Because we are America's third most populated city, and every crazy jihadist in the world is trying to figure out how to set off a dirty bomb or mass chemical weapon here.

When that happens, are we turning all lanes of the highways outbound? How quickly can Chicago set up a 5 or 25 square mile "exit only" zone and then start evacuating everyone in it while not letting anyone in?

I don't blame any NO PD member for leaving. If there ain't no plan given to me for a disaster of this magnitude, I'm outta here too.

I don't blame the coppers out there either. I mean if our houses were destroyed and the department you worked for was under water, and the leadership was missing, i'd take care of my family first. Then attmpt to rejoin a lost police and city.

No doubt that this mayor is blaming others for not quickly reacting to the tragic results of his failures and those of his predecessors.

But the question begs to be asked... which cities can evacuate and who has a plan.

Every government in this country should commit to a number of refugees it can accomodate should this situation (or any similar) ever recur.

Chicago: 40K
NYC: 70K
LA: 40K

And every local government should have a plan for rapid evacuation.

As for Chicago, I have to wonder how many people in the CPD even know what a plan Red or plan Blue (for mobilization) is, let alone whether ANYONE knows of ANY plan on how to evacuate Chicago.

My guess is that current evacuation plans are as follows:
1.) Fly a helicopter into the newly emptied park where Meigs field used to be;
2.) Fly Daley out to some country which does not have an extradition treaty with the U.S.; and
3.) If there is in fact some major disaster in Chicago that ties into Daley's reasons for leaving, call the Suntimes (after exiting U.S. airspace) and ask Fran and Frank to run a "Run For Your Lives" story in tomorrow's paper.

I know a retired CPD ghetto cop who is now living in N.O. I wonderd how he was doing since Ktrina, so I contacted his partner who is still on the job and asked if he heard from him at all. He said he did, he heard him singing in his shower this morning. He drove up on Sunday and has been living with him. I guess no one told him he was suppose to stay there, and wait for someone to give him a handout. What I can't figure out is why is he there in the first place, does he miss the west side that much

I'm the same person who posted the 11:43 comment. Funny how today the Chicago Tribune ran an article about the "plans" to evacuate Chicago. Their two great sources ar Huberman and Velasquez.

Neither of whom held an operational emergency management position in the field in any agency. One of whom is, if I'm not wrong (which I may be), an HDO operative and beneficiary.

And they have a plan. Trust em. The Tribune appears to.

The plan is fluid. Its to reverse highway flows. To use landlines phones for alerts and evacuation orders. To use the police to block incoming traffic. To organize assembly points.

And who knows of these plans? Who has been trained on these plans? If anyone has, I believe it would only have happened since my post (yes, reporters read this site). Not between 9/11 and NOLA.

Did anyone bother to check with their watch or unit commanders?

If someone set off an EMP at 10:00 on a Friday night in June, 98% of the exempt bosses in the CPD might be out of town or drunk. And the on-duty bosses?

Well, who has that satellite phone again?

And how do they communicate with their troops and those off-duty? No radios, no phones.

And nobody has a goddamn clue as to assembly points, evacuation routes, default chain of command.

Not police officers. Not dispatchers. Not bosses.

But trust em, Huberman and Velazquez have a fluid plan for this eventuality. They promise.

The voters of this city deserve their fate.
