Meeks' Church Detail

Ok, we've noticed a bunch of posts about this. Who can give us definitive info about how many on-duty cops are detailed to this. How much of it is typical PO exaggeration?

Don't look at us like that. The sun rises in the east, Chicago government is more crooked than your grandmother's spine and coppers exaggerate. Anyone who believes half of what goes on in the comments section ought to report downtown for a "wiz-quiz" tomorrow.

Someone find us something (ANYTHING!) that says 25 police officers are detailed to Meeks' church on-duty and we're sure someone will forward it to the media (hell, they tell federal lawyers about us, why wouldn't they tell the media?)

I'm assigned to the 005th District and can tell you that 6 P.O's are assigned each week. They take 2 from tact and 4 from the watch each week.

This Rev Meeks thing is going way beyond CAPS. Wait a minute Batman - isn't Vance Henry (the CAPS guru) a Rev too?

What a waste of manpower in the 005th District.

Shouldn't the accountability unit of the department get in on this sort of stuff?! I mean let's talk about the whole DOWN AND REDUCED BEAT problem citywide and I gurantee 005 is on top of that list. The Rev Meeks assignment doesn't help.

Sheesh.

Accountability...Chicago Police Department...just make sure the cops are on the dots folks!

The Meeks church detail thing: if its to handle the traffic, that's one thing (although it should only be temporary, until the church can hire their own traffic aides); if its for the security of the automobiles, etc., then the detail is a disgrace, and an insult not only to the taxpayers but to every other church or other entity in the city that "needs" security. One poster refered to accountability....there was a request some years ago for the CPD to publish (i.e., make public) their manpower, personnal availability, and where each Department member (numbers, no names) was assigned. The Department refused to provide that info, saying that "to do so would tip the criminals as to where the police were"....is that a joke or what? I mean, the gangbangers know where we are all of the time; the only people who don't know where the police are, or are supposed to be, are the taxpayers....

OMA, accountability, whatever you want to call it these days does quarterly reports on this subject matter which are summarily filed away. << Go figure. These reports will never see the light of day because they speak volumes of truth.

We know where the police are, we also know there aren't enough to go around; especially on 1st and 3rd watch.

But let's create ANOTHER unit to fool the masses. Smoke and mirrors gang, smoke and mirrors - not to us, to the public.

I do believe Jesse gets some people as well for Operation Push. I beleive at least 2 guys from Preventive Programs did this every week. I'm assuming is is still going on, although I don't know total numbers.

the point being....why doesn't the public get a chance to know exactly how many police there are, and where they are working. Some "accountability" for the CPD and the public, although the voting sheep probably wouldn't wake up long enough to notice...

It's bad stuff. Shouldn't the FOP be concerned about how many of us are out there, for our own safety?!

We know we can't count on the City or the union, so what do we do to protect ourselves and go home to our families every day?

The people down at 35th St always say there a 3 types of p.o.'s on this job:
Those who are good at math, and those who aren't.

Operation Push has one tact team assigned every Saturday morning. I also believe that one watch car is assigned.
The officers are not assigned to protect cars or for traffic control, they are there for a presence. Just in case something happens. This is especially true after the shooting that occurred at 49th & Drexel.

Every year alderthing dorothy tilman has a party at her house, and 2-3 P/O's are assigned " for presence ". bobby " black panther " rush had an ongoing problem with one of his kids a while back. Would call the watch commander in 002 to send a car to shag off the kid. Seems on the 1st and 15th, when the kid got paid. He'd get fucked up. He'd come to bobby's house, hurling rocks and profanities. Never a radio call, always a " call the watch commander " kinda thing.

5:18 Don't you understand? You are from a certain ethnic group that can handle its own problems. I bet you don't call the police when your 12 year old isn't being respectful, either. Hell, you probably don't even call anambulance when you have a tummy ache!

a couple of weeks ago, they were pulling ppo's out of the districts and sending them to work in 005 for the night, they adjusted their duty hours to 1800-0200. i'm pretty sure it was only one day, but it seemed like a last minute thing since those that were pulled from my district didn't know about it until they were called in to see the w/s and were told to get their gear and drive their own cars to 005.

WHAT IF MEEKS WANTED TO BE MAYOR BUT MANY VOTERS DID NOT KNOW WHO MEEKS WAS. IT WOULD NOT BE TOO DIFFICULT TO ENGINEER AN EVENT, WITH A WILLING OR UNWILLING MEMBER OF CPD, THAT WOULD GENERATE THE KIND OF NAME/FACE RECOGNITION THAT WOULD BE UNAFFORDABLE OTHERWISE.

You want proof just drive down 111th st. or 115th st. on Sat night or Sunday or any other time there is a special event. There are officers 2 & 3 deep on every corner within 5 blocks of the church. You will see them walking through the parking lots including the private parking lots of local business that the church goers take over. You will see thier cars parked on the lawns of the local business and all over the sidewalks too. In my neighborhood we would get ticketed and towed...

The Officers assigned are not from the 005th dist. All you have to do is ask them. The officer will tell you they are told to watch the vehicles in the lots. They will tell you they are all PPOs from 6,7,8 and even the 12th dists and are detailed to the events... They did not know who I was, they told me everything... Thats all the proof I need and thats why I published the original post...

MEEKS, here is a guy that has weekly workshops on how to get CR.#s on the police. Teaches them what to say and how to embelish the facts in an effort to make the complaint worse for maximum effect.

Teaches how to act during the interview and how to discribe the incident for maximum time off for the officer.

Supplies at list of Lawyers who will file a law suit against the officer and the Dept. with no money up front.

For a small donation anyone can join the workgroup...

Any of this sound familiar.

Beat 1631 was on duty last night............... in 011 ! 016 sends two 10 hour cars from 3rd watch and usually two (at least one) midnight beat cars to 025 or 015 or 011. It usually seems to be a 30 sector car and they are assigned there until the wee hours of the morning. Do youlive on 31 or 32's beat? You better start making an issue of this, you have NO police presence on Friday and Saturday night.

016 sent either 2 or 3 cars to the 8th district for their pumpkin patch event. The 10-12 99 cars working 2nd watch in 016 are apparently such overkill that we can sent 20-25% of the work force to 008 for pumpkin patrol

Is this stuff about sending beat cars from 016 to other districts legit or is it just more manical ranting from another disgruntled employee?

11/01/2005 07:33:00 AM

Not disgruntled rantings.... Heard direct from coppers in 016 as a sale to why they don't do shit...We don't have enough cars...025 and 011 have been getting the gang teams for months now

And then we wonder why Hiawatha and Shabona (sp?) Parks are the extreme pain in the asses that they are.... But then again, even 1631 was there they just drive by and wave to the jag-offs....maybe if one half of the car got out and walked she wouldn't be looking like a heart attack waiting to happem.... The other half of the car can be somebody's night stick, doesn't even drive, can' tsee over the wheel
