Anyone have any idea what downtown has planned for mobilization for a Sox win? We can't see it nearly as bad as the Bulls riots were. Maybe 008, 009 and parts of 010 and 012? Who's got the order?

100 Sergeants starting on Halloween with the 90 days of detective training. They'll begin actual Sgt training on 30 January 06. Moderator called this a waste of man hours and I think he called it correctly. Why waste these people in a D unit for 3 months? Get them on the street before the next wave of recruit hits. We don't need to be training Sgts along with the kids.
Anyone know about the fist fight during an arrest between an SOS PO and a 002nd District sergeant a few weeks ago? Heard SOS was locking up a dope dealer and the on-duty sgt came to his defense and tried to stop the arrest. They supposedly came to blows.

They reject people? Man, I'd hate to see who the rejects are considering TRU are nothing but SOS rejects. Who in turn are nothing but OCD rejects.
he was a 002 tact sarge. No star on, no vest on, no duty belt on. The SOS guy thought he was a hype. There was no fist fight, but the sarge got a CR on him for disregarding an order.

they are basically assigned to "hot spots" throughout the city on a daily basis. they are in 010 a lot and i have yet to see a felony pinch from any of them. SOS wannabes more or less.

I'm in TRU and have to say that its alot of butt kissing and bending over backwards for the animal. Hey I just needed to go here because of school (we get the best ducks for that) so be it. Hey 6:15, what catagories does TRU lead in during these DOC meetings? last one that I went to they were in 6 districts, with double the manpower that SOS had, and didn't have nearly half of the activity that SOS did. Give me a break. Every district that I was assigned to where TRU was was a joke. All TRU was good for was screwing things up and letting the regular district guys and gals pick up the pieces. The only catagory they ever lead in is parkers, tickets and impounds. Go pound salt!!

Ride on District jobs, no name tags, no stars, maybe a hand written beat tag, probably wearing a hoody sweatshirt over the uniform, fuck things up, then leave the beat car with the mess. Mentioning either of those units in the same sentence as "accountability" is a joke! It's not hard to have numbers on the west side/south side when you aren't answering domestics all night!
You know, I'm all about the no name tags and badges, and super secret-squirrel black hoody (except the rubbers who wear the ones that have "SOS" on 'em), but when you guys go in a district, have a little respect for the W/C and get in uniform.....at the very least take off the damn hoody....we all know you guys are serious ass kickers, but come on. After all, the W/C is signing off on your five misdemeanors.

Clout is what it is, either you got it or you don't. I'm a hater myself sometimes too. I think it's bullshit that everyone with some juice can get into all the fun-filled units. A lot of smart, hard working coppers will never get passed the beat car just because they don't have a phone call.....yet they deserve it. And it's a shame to hear all the horror stories of these clout heavy, do-nothing coppers get into these units and then not do a damned thing once they are there....and they're so heavy that not even commanders can dump them....the system is pathetic. The funniest is to see new Sgt.s leave from the academy, go to a district for a week or two, and then go directly back to the unit they came from.....don't know shit about being a Sgt....never did anything remotely related to being a supervisor, but we'll throw 'em back to narcotics. Shit, there were guys in my class who were still driving their unmarked crown vics! I know, I know, jealousy is a motherfucker. This department is fucked b/c of phone calls. Dumb-asses making the call to get to 35th or to make rank and just fucking things up. With the exception of a few, nobody earns a damn thing anymore. BRUTAL. HOWEVER, if I had a Chinaman, shit, I'd use his ass too....just like most of you would.

Commander Harry Hohm, (Inspectors) and 2 po's are in a 4 week flight school in Texas. If they start a unit they are going to use CFD helo's. Harry the hat is going to run it.
The "Harry the Hat" story always makes me smile.
Heard a story about him when he was a new lieutenant in the 1st district... walked into City Hall one day and tried to tell the City Hall sergeant that he needed to see some papers... sign out sheets or something. The sergeant tried to explain that he was going in over his head, but noooooo Harry the Hat just had to see the sign in sheets.... Within an hour, Lieutenant Hohm was ordered to get out and stay out of City Hall here and forever after.
The sergeant was partly political, partly the top scorer on the sgts. test when the sgts test temporarily went legit. One of my favorite "just trying to keep y'all out of trouble" supervisors of all time.
"Harry the Hat" one of the most rotten bosses I ever worked for and his back stabbing secretary also.
That was a pretty uniform sentiment among the 200+ people I know who had the misfortune to work on, around or under him. There were 3 or 4 senior bosses in 008 at one time who collectively may have been the 3 or 4 most hated people in Chicago.
Harry Hohm was in 022 for a little while and I can vouch that he was a JACK-ASS!! He had the personality of a rock. A classless, ball-less act.
I was at Summer Mobile in the summer of 2001, and had the pleasure of working for Neil Sullivan. That moron is one incompetent S.O.B.! And I can attest that he is a drunken slob. We were in the process of attempting to close Rainbow Beach on a hot summer night & the natives did not want to leave, so the bottle-throwing began. A request for assist was made and here comes Neil drunk as a skunk. Sullivan had to hold onto the hood of his car to keep from toppling over. Now he's in charge of this city in the event of a disater??? I hope he has a "designated driver"!

Commander Hohm was on the helicopters back when we had them. He worked hard to get them back so we can use them.
Lord knows we can use a helicopter more then pod cameras. << USELESS
He has had his moments as "harry the hat" but he's a guy that always enjoyed a little shake up, and shaking it up...he just does it with a straight face.

and in answer to the original post, the Chicago Tribune is now saying that the concentrations will be in 009, 018 and 022.
Personally, I think it will be really, really stupid not to have several mass-response units available on the south side and several on the west side, but this is Chicago.
I think I'd put 25+ 2 man units at Garfield and Stony Island, 25+ 2 man units at Garfield and Western, and ditto at 95th street (Stony Island and Western).
Something similar in in 010/011/015/025.
If y'all get caught unawares the way it happened in '92, PLEASE STAY SAFE AND TOGETHER. DO NOT LOSE SIGHT OF EACH OTHER, NO MATTER IF THE WHOLE NEIGHBORHOOD IS BURNING DOWN.
