Congrats to all the new Sergeants-to be!!!! 80 to start the D-training on Monday! Two of the guys in my Unit just got notified. 67 off the list, 13 "merit". They won't actually get the promotion until January, but at least the people who were close on the list can breathe a sigh of relief that the list wasn't taken down. At the least the next 67 people can anyway, I bet number 68 is kinda pissed! ha ha
Starks will definitley be here through the end of the year. Bets are he's gone first quarter.

Your numbers don't add up. 30% of 80 is 24 "merit." So either the class is bigger than we know or they aren't counting the picks who are already in the D units.
Legit Det's and meritorious Det's are not on that list. They've already had det training.
About Daley, I heard that these seat belt enforcement every district does on each watch was to be done as extra employment with federal money (Grant). I hear that all these suburban depts. are doing these seat belt enforcement but are doing them on their day off as o.t. So did King daley steal that federal money that was alocated to pay us as secondary employment and is that why we do them during the tour of duty. Has anyone else heard about this????
The federal grant money goes to pay for the DUI roadblocks (which are off-duty coppers on OT) not the seatbelt missions
According to a rep at the FOP, #320 on the list was notified by personnel that he/she would be on the sgt. list, but did not have his/her college transcripts on file. They must be going up to at least #320, putting the class somewhere around 100 or more.
11:59 Seatbelt missions are also funded.
for any of you who are making sgt. anytime soon, be aware that you have to have your transcripts sent to personnel before you get any kind of credit for your education. they don't bother to tell you this until you are passed up already.
The department "lost" my transcripts 3, yes, three times. Call down to personnel and talk to Saul. He deals with that. And people wonder why we feel the way we do about our employer.
There will be 100 Sergeants made in Jan 06. The class that is starting on 31 Oct 05 are those that are going to be promoted to Sgt. but are not Detective trained.
They will do 90 days in the D Unit, then be promoted in Jan. with those that are already/presently dicks. Cline wants all his supervisors D Unit trained!
So, for those that have never been detectives, 90 days of watching the dicks work will qualify many of them (?) to go into the d as sgts?
So, is there a list out or is this just more speculation cpd style?
I did the 90 day stint before making sgt and I thought it wasn't bad, but I got handouts almost everyday after the first week as well as being sent out on a process job and going to a police shooting; my counterparts in other areas didnt do anything close to that so I guess it's only as good as you make it, or they make it......
Seat belt missions are aprt of it too. Don't know if it's federal money or IDOT, but it falls under the "Click it or Ticket" campaign
Every Area is different. Some Sgt/Det's that did the 90 days, learned something from some pretty sharp Dets'. Some just did nothing and rode out 90 days.
Is the list out yet, or is all this talk just nonsense.

List will be out next week. Personnel called all on the list today that are not D - trained to see if they wanted that. Cline likes them to be D-trained. He thinks that makes them better supervisors! And to the 01:50:06 PM poster - NO they won't go into the D-Unit as Sgts. They will go to Patrol. If they are not D-Unit trained prior to the Jan 06 promotion then they'll probably get a crappy district.
In the meantime, when will they be promoting dicks? After Jan or before the end of the year?
How many will get promoted next week as Sgt.'s.

They did not call everyone on the list who is not D-trained. They only called people on the list who did not have their transcript's in. The only rumor on here that is true and verifed is the 12:17 post. #320 on the list was called to update his education.

No, I would say August that's when he actually knew were he was on the list.

March 2002 the final test was taken. The City promoted off of the other list...
Until Aug 2002...when the new list came out.
So since the City promoted from teh oldlist after March 2002...then the new list would start at August 2002.
The city never promoted off the old list after the last test was given. Try reading what you wrote before you post it. I felt as drunk as you after reading it.
I dont remember if it was Sgts or Dets , but a few years ago they prmoted a class a few weeks before they announced the new list.
The city didn't promote any sgt's during 2002. Don't believe me? look it up. The guy who said you were waiting since spring of 2002 is right.
Does anyone know when the Sgt list is coming out or when the list of merit selection will come out?
