Saturday Traffic Slowdown
Of course, web site traffic is down on weekends anyway. We usually only run about 1/2 to 2/3 of our regular visits on Saturdays and Sundays because, like us, everyone else has things to do. This weekend is going to be a little different with the World Series going. We expect traffic to die off completely in the evening, so posting will be light or nonexistent while the games are on. And the Blackhawks and Bears play this weekend too, so it's going to be very busy on the sports front. Sox and Cubs fans can use this thread to taunt each other for a bit and whoever keeps making fun of us for supporting the Blackhawks can tease us again.We're working on a couple posts for late Sunday, early Monday to start the week with a bang. But keep checking in - we'll have a couple of pieces up anyway; opinions, rants or general BS. We passed 50,000 total visits last night, surpassed our previous monthly total (16,000+) and there are still another 10 days to go in October, so it'll be another personal best. Thanks to everyone who's been visiting and commenting.

I'm not really a big sports fan overall, and if I had to choose between the Cubs and Sox, the Cubs have been ingrained in my upbringing. Having said that, I wish the White Sox nothing but good luck and I truly hope they do our city proud!
I also really hope that if they do win, that Chicago can celebrate without the riots and looting that other cities have had to face. I'm not optimistic, but I can hope...

Does anybody know anything about the 016 1st Watch female Sgt who got her ass kicked the other night because she responded to a call and it took over 10 minutes for backup to get to her? Any truth to it?
Any truth that TRU went to the last playoff game and parked their cars anywhere they felt and went in 30 deep? I hear on duty PO'S will not be allowed in w/o a ticket. Can anyone confirm this?
Sounds like a good plan for TRU. I would rather see them there than in the district flying around 4 cars deep for that traffic ticket and then all heading into the station and having all eight of them sitting at the table and in the hall for one to write some tickets and impound a car.

There are some angry, bitter motherfuckers on this job. Life is gonna suck when you're old timers if you don't learn to let this shit go. In the long run it doesn't matter who makes det., what TRU does, who is a dog, who isn't, etc.
Go to work each day with a partner you enjoy working with and always find something to make you laugh. Work hard because its your job and don't get hung up on things you can't control. If you like chasing guns, then chase guns; if you're into hot cars, stop every motherfucker on the street; if you like dope, play that game. Go to your jobs and back up other coppers. Stop worrying about what everyone else is doing. You're just gonna give yourself an ulcer and make it impossible for people to deal with you.
I've been doing this 23 years and I laugh every day. Some days are better than others, but I come to work to have good time. I enjoy police work. I was in patrol for 15 years and loved every day of it. I still miss it. If someone is a dog, working yourself into a frenzy isn't going to change their behavior. You guys need to lighten up or you'll die of stress before 40.
Why is a woman Sgt trying to handle a man be her self anyways? Hope she isnt hurt but someone should tell her to wait for some policeMEN to come first.....Oh thats right she has to prove she can do a man's job.

I not going to dress the same way as everyone else. TRU, get real. What has TRU done. Nothing. The unit hasn’t made any change anywhere. It’s a waste of manpower. The only good thing is, it took a lot of 2 year veterans that know everything, and I do mean everything, out of the districts!

the city continues to divide the membership of this unit and the union allows it to happen no bids for tru some working 10 hr days some not eliminate a bid housing unit replace it with nothing eliminate bid school patrol replace with nothing it goes on and on why increase the number of dicks when you have pos working the areas in saturation teams or mission teams no need for more dick spots it goes on and on and on in the fire department everyone pulls hose that's why they had the balls to go out in 80 but then the kicked out irish leader has been replaced lets see what happens now..

I dont know why you are messing with the TRU unit aka "Sweater Club". They are all good officers who help keep the contact card stats satifactory. And you can always find them in the stations 10+ deep on a 1811 just in case one of their fellow sweater guys forget how to do the paper. Stop knocking them.

They were sleeping. It wasn't an on view it was a dispatched job to someone else. He took off, she ran the plate and got to his house before him. He ran in the house. She went into the garage he left open to check out the car, he locked her in the fight was on. I don't work on that watch but the story we were told at rollcall is that she was alone a long time. Getting dragged all over the garage and front lawn. Doesn't really surprise me, anyone going thru 016 on midnights should check the cemetary at Talcott and Gregory. There's your beat car (all of the 10 sector) in there sleeping. This is a fact. My guess is some PO's didn't know how to get to the sarge since Maria Court isn't well known to many unless you have been here awhile. The first watch is 90% new kids, 10% old timers. It's really a joke. Way to go 1st watch. You really make us proud. That Sgt is usually the desk Sgt she must be a little rusty.
