Quick Hits and Things we've Heard

For a Wednesday morning:
  • The two-year-old who shot the four-year-old? Seems the gun they're charging the uncle with might not be the gun used to shoot the child. The gun recovered was a Tec-9, but the uncle says the gun used in the shooting was tossed in a dumpster.
  • sun-times coverage of yesterday's shooting at 49th/Drexel. The same link takes you to the opening of the Federal class-action lawsuit alleging that CPD Detectives held people unconstitutionally for over four hours sometimes, to which we reply, "hahahahahahaha."
  • If this guy wasn't named Juventino Vallejo-Camerena, we would have assumed it was Stanley Karplotski. "Quickly, return me to Warsaw!" Where did he think he was going to go anyway?
  • And we don't know about you, but we always thought the smurfs deserved to get bombed. We mean, you have this village of blue people, only one woman among all of them, singing that annoying song, with weird names like Papa, Brainy, Dorky, Dumbass, etc. Someone needed to bomb these creatures. More links here and here. This lovely piece of film brought to you by (guess who?) the United Nations Childrens Fund! Your tax dollars at work.

The offender/dead guy from the 49th. and Drexel shooting was the number three guy of the Gangster Disciples in that area. But of course they will show him in his eight grade graduation picture and tell you he was a pillar of the community.

The outrage is where it was when the family [grandfather, daughter and grandson] were beaten to pulps when they were going to a Sox game a few years ago.
The offender jumped from his car and used a chair leg on these people [strangers] because he was angry thst his girlfriend dumped him.
The grandfather later died from his wounds. The daughter/ mother has permanent brain damage. The boy got a few whacks but was forced to witness this.
Not a fucking peep from "community leaders"

Thats where the outrage is Nowhere

Unprovoked attacks by race are wrong no matter whom is involved. The fact the deed is inadequately covered by the press is of lesser importance than attempting to avoid such actions in the future. Better race relations should be the upmost in the mind of all.

One of my favorite pizzas in Chicago (along with Pats Pizza in the South Loop and the unrelated Pats Pizza on North Sheffield). And, like most everyone here I'm sure, I particularly dislike attacks aimed at the elderly (or children).

Unusual request: if anyone hears of where to donate money to a reward fund, mebbe post it here? This one is hitting sorta close to home for me.

I've been to em both, and own a place in the south loop/near south side now. I assure you that each of them has a pepperoni and garlic thin crust that is virtually indistinguishable, and is the best damned pizza you can have, with the possible exception of Vito and Nick's.

I'm serious about that reward question too, if anyone has an answer. I'm fairly-well immune to crime stories unless they hit close to home, and this one just felt a bit too close for comfort... like it could have been my uncle or a friend's dad or something.

Vito and Nick's pixxa is the best. I have a better idea. Take your Chicago Tribune and put some Ragu, sausage, and pepperoni on it. Cook for ten minutes and eat.

Hey John Dineen, since you moved to Park Ridge, why don't you run for a spot on their pension board?

Give some one else a chance for the Retired spot in Chicago.

You retired several years ago, collect a nice pension, are still on the National FOP Board. Go to every National Convention (ALL PAID FOR).

Have not done any Police Work in over 25 years.

It's time to step aside FAT MAN.

You have been at the buffet too long, while the working police suffered.
