World Champions!

It was a long time coming, but the Sox finally broke the baseball curse afflicting this city. Congratulations to the team that led the league since day one of the season and topped it off with a World Series Championship. Use this open thread for the remainder of the night and early Thursday as we will most likely be celebrating into the wee hours.

Any stories about riots or arrests can be tossed in here, too. What an amazing run.

UPDATE: Jermaine Dye MVP for the Series

The end must be near. Huricanes, global warming and now Hell Freezes over. At least I can die happy.

Someone posted a cool post when they won the ALCS about remebering those who played catch with us, cheered us on in little league and gave us money to buy rubber balls and whiffle balls at the drug store. A lot of them have passed on and missed this. God Bless Them, I hope they have good reception in heaven. Or maybe this is heaven.

This is too cool. Too unbelievable.

Doesn't it still suck that the White Sox kicked ass, sweeped the Astros in the World Series but they are still a 2nd rate team in Chicago next to the Cubs. Maybe it has something to do with the 2nd rate fans.

Thanks Sox! You are a miserable representation of winning something your neighbor didn't and couldn't win. Rub it in our faces. Rub it really well.
You made it!
The vengeance will invigorate itself towards a new and unprecedented hatred and loathing of what the White Sox were, are and will become.
To the victors the spoils...but remember this:

Enjoy...for this too shall pass.

Then make the WC sign the slip that he denied the time and then send it to the FOP. Remember the lawsuit that FOP has in regards to comp time? Well, regardless if you signed on to it or not, all the bosses were put on the lawsuit. If you asked them to sign the slip that they are dening the time they will get the hint and do not to be wrapped up in the lawsuit anymore than they already are.

Where to start? I was so excited last night after the White Sox Won the World Series I went outside my Mt. Greenwood house and I could hear air raid sirens, (I assume they came from Evergreen Park)fireworks and car horns. I told my kids "lets go for a ride". We drove around Mt. Greenwood and Beverly and watched all the fans on Western and 111th St. I think of my buddies who are Cub fans who can never understand the hatred that many Sox fans feel towards the Cubs. I for one dont hate them, I have evolved to being indifferent. That being said I cant help but to ask my fellow Sox fans to be proud and be happy. This may never happen again or it could become routine (we can always dream) or the Cubs mgiht win in our lifetime. I get tired of the Sox fan who chooses to celabrate by mentioning some idiotic remark about the Cubs. WHO CARES!!!! We Won! Stay on track. And those Cub fans who want to group all Sox fans in with The Ligue father and son combo, I personally know John Murray the Chicago Board of Trade Member/Oak Brook native/Cub season ticket holder who attacked a Cub pitcher on the field for giving up a hit. The Ligue's are white trash and Murray is a privledged rich boy and they had nothing in common except being wayyyy overserved. So try and remember nobody has a lock on idiot fans as proven by a few post on this blog by both sides.

You really need to get some counselling for your homophobic fears. Have you ever been in a gay bar ? You really need to stop hating and redirect that energy into doing something other than blogging here. I am sure you were picked on as a child and sucked your thumb until you were well into your 20s. I am a heterosexual and am sick and tired of hearing some people always making gay references to the fans who grace the doors of Wrigley Field. when you type stupid posts such as yours you make all sox fans look stupid. I am a sox fan and dont appreciate your hatred that reflects badly on sox fans. get your counselling and have mommy stop breast feeding you and I am sure maybe someday you might amount to something.

then again maybe idiot

For some reason Cub fans believe that attendance = good ball club.
If this is the case, the Cubs should have 5 - 10 World Series titles. As this is not the case then there must be another explanation for the lack of titles. Maybe, the large media company that owns the Cubs sees a fan base with little baseball knowledge and a party mentality. This permits the Cubs to field a team that at times entertains but does not win titles.

If Wrigley Field ever goes the way of the Dodo, then you will see the fan base fall faster then Enron stock. That is why the Cubs patch and expand Wrigley, rather then replace it. There is no land on the north side to build a retro-replacement stadium.
If they built in the burbs they would lose the big ten types that live close by.
This would leave families to fill the void and this in turn would require a winner to draw the families regularly.

So, to all of you Cub fans that believe you live on the mountain. I think the Cubs have to equal or beat the following to be in the same league as the Sox.

1) Go wire to wire in the regular season in first place.
2) Lose no more than one game in the playoffs.
Oh yea! Win the World Series, and sweep it.

When these conditions are met give us a call.
Until then...wait till next year!

By the way, I like the Cubs too, until they play the Sox.

I'm a Sox fan, but good sportsmanship is good sportsmanship. If I get a chance to see the Astros play the Cubs next year (do they even play each other?), I'll go if I'm likely to see Pettit pitch.

As for the Sox, my police family and I have a pact. Anybody I ever see acting in a way that will give us true Chicagoans a bad name the way the father-n-son junkies (from the 'burbs) and the Dr. (likely from the burbs, huh?... and why won't the papers name-n-shame this guy???), there gonna have ole anonymous me and/or my policing family pouncing on their ass faster than you can say "southside civility!!!".

Hell, they oughta give 100 PO Sox fans tickets for every game if they promise to do such pouncing. Batter an opposing player's wife? Pounce. Run out on the field and assault an elderly coach or umpire? Aww hell, a mere pounce and cauliflower ears would be too good for em. WEAPONS FREE on the suburbanite junkies giving me and mine a bad name.

Is there a run-on sentence up there?

What incentive does the management have to spend the money to win, when they sell the park out every game anyway?
