Someone Correct us if We're Wrong

We think (THINK) that tomorrow is the last day to get your pension board ballot in the mail. We think (THINK) is has to be postmarked and in by the 27th for counting on the 28th. We might (MIGHT) be mistaken, but we can't check on the FOP site because it's down (and has been down for more than a day according to our readers). Maybe one of the candidates has the deadlines posted on their sites - could someone check? We're busy watching the Sox comeback. Thanks.

The biggest problem facing this fraternal order is a lack of participation by the active members. We noticed a funny thing in the last election - every single retiree running for office? They won, every one of them. Granted, they were running for trustee spots, but that ought to give the young guys pause. Retirees ran for 5 or 6 or 7 spots and they won them all. The active membership ought to look at that display of cohesiveness and power and wish they could be that united when facing the next contract negotiations.

So go vote people, because if you don't vote, you really shouldn't be allowed to bitch.

Speaking of the Pension Board Trustee Election,

Officer TIERNEY,

I just left your Blog and I am appauled by I what I read in the last two posts in the first section.

Did you really go to the Pension Board today to hand in paperwork for the election and not even bother to stay at the Monthly Pension Board Meeting?

This from someone who has NEVER before went to a meeting because he was too busy working?

If you win the election, are you not required to go to the monthly meetings?

Did you even know there was a Pension Board meeting today?

But I guess that’s OK because you did get your paperwork in today for your Poll Watchers? That’s all that matters, right?

That is really a sad statement about your character, ME, ME, ME, it’s ALL about ME.

Yea, I really want in the trustee spot.

If your information is correct, i.e. retirees voting as a block, then you now know why the FOP leadship has worked hard to change the "rules" regarding retiree membership. The new policy that sends the dues notice in Sept, due in November or dropped from the roles, is to eliminate a solid voting block from the FOP. A block that knows what an incompetent, corrupt and leaderless organization the FOP has become under the current regime.

Donahue put Robbins up for pension board because Donahue wanted Robbins to get a spot. Robbins could not have a FOP inside spot because they were all taken and Donahue was afraid when Bella and Fallon threatened Donahue that Bella and Fallon were organizing a slate against Donahue. IT ALL CAME DOWN TO MONEY. Donahue was afraid to loose his cussy $150,000 a year spot. Bella and Fallon were afraid to rebel and loose their $110,000 a year jobs. The FOP southsiders are afraid of the northsiders. The northsiders control the vote.

Pension Board Break Down

Tierney will win because of Robbins' name and his southside address.

Tierney has a better name, has a northside address, brought up the $5,000 the FOP was going to give Robbins before Robbins found religion and refused the money, and that Robbins voted to give the city $23 million back.

Next Question

Is a rebellion by Bella and Fallon at FOP against Donahue and Dougherty happening? It is rumored Bella and Fallon threatened Donahue that they were going to organize a slate against Citywide during the last election. It will be interesting to see how the pension board election evolves and how the election impacts FOP. Stay tuned.

A New Orleans Police Department Story:

Eddie Compass, the New Orleans police chief of many years, has resigned. The mayor said he was a great guy and sang his praises. Here's the story the media is not reporting.

The FBI is investigating the NO police department. They have been trying for weeks now, to get a full list of names of the 1700 officers on the payroll. Five hundred police officers were supposedly "AWOL" (left their posts) during the recent hurricane. It seems now, that 81% of those 500 missing officers DO NOT EXIST! This means that the New Orleans police force has hundreds of "phantom police" on the payroll, and Eddie Compass, the police chief is obviously complicit in the fraud, and his reason for resigning is that he obviously sees the wolves at his door. Here's a link to Tony Snow, who yesterday reported about the ongoing FBI investigation. It's an audio link, so let it load first. http://www.foxnews.com/tonysnowradio/vidPlayer/player.html?snow/092705/snow_nola_092705&Tony_Snow_Audio&Tony%20Snow&acc&Radio&-1&wvx-300
Think about the level of corruption and conspiracy that must exist there for something like this to be going on in a city police department.

site master after further reeview all the retirees that ran for election for the fop board did not win.

if we are serious about active members participating on the board each district (25) and each area (5)should have that elected unit rep be on the board.

due away with "slates" and having the majority of the present board from special units.

we don't need THREE Sgt-At-ARms, and THREE vice presidents.

Until retirees are made part of the bargaining unit they should be limited to one representative on the board.

Retirees should be able to hold office in the "fraternal" side of the organization but the union should only be represented by members of the bargaining unit!
