The Missing Police Car Caper

  • A West Side woman was arrested Friday morning after allegedly driving off in the squad car of the officer who had just arrested her for driving under the influence, police said.
And speaking of missing squad cars, (we've told people we have a memory like a steal trap - we used to run the boards playing trivia and we were NTN Trivia champs in a couple of bars), anyone know what happened with this story that we wrote about way back on 19 July 2005 concerning the missing 014th District squad car? Anyone ever catch any time on that caper?

How can you justify something like a not reporting a stolen marked car? I have worked with a lot of goofs in my career, but this is too much! 20 and out sound a lot better every day.

014 is evolving into a morass of bad decision-making. I don't know what if the guy who's squad was taken took time - I know he got an ass-chewing for it.
But recently two p/o's from 014 took their personal car - and not much else - to a different district to do a drug buy and ended up calling a 10-1 when the shit hit the fan. Very bad decision; they went alone w/o a take-down car. One got jacked in the head by a local M/1.

Arrested woman takes squad car, cops say

Published January 21, 2006

CHICAGO -- A West Side woman was arrested Friday morning after allegedly driving off in the squad car of the officer who had just arrested her for driving under the influence, police said.

Veronique Armour, 22, of the 5000 block of West Grand Avenue was charged with one felony count of possession of a stolen vehicle and a misdemeanor count of escape from police, said Police Officer JoAnn Taylor. Armour also was cited for driving under the influence, obstructing traffic and driving left of center, Taylor said.

A Town Hall District officer stopped Armour about 11:30 a.m. for driving on the wrong side of the road in the 400 block of West Fullerton Parkway, police said. While the officer was moving Armour's car from the center of the road, Armour slipped out of her handcuffs, got into the front seat of the police car and drove off.

The squad car was left in an alley in the 2700 block of North Halsted Street, police said. Armour was arrested a short time later at a residence in the 2900 block of North Clark Street, Taylor said.

What difference does the "hit ratio" make? They killed a bad guy and arrested the other two co-offenders. It was a job well done. The entire team is top notch. It is comprised of a Sgt. who honed his skills while serving in the 018th District Tactical prior to being promoted and a few VERY capable young patrolman who have obviously studied the art of Police work. That and the assistance of a very experienced copper named Bone all paid off handsomely on the night in question. So instead of trying to stir the pot, you should be proud that we have Officers who did what they did that night.

Bone paid his dues a long time ago as a superb street cop.

How many times have you searched for and locked up a double cop killer, you sick, worthless piece of shit?

Do you get wood by anonymously trying to drag a superb street cop's reputation through the mud?

Well done, Harold & Co.!

_________

I absolutely agree that he is an outstanding cop who has proven himself to be one of those rare few that other coppers respect.!

But the allegation WAS made, and the FACT is that if not for his friendship with the person in charge of IAD at the time, that great cop would have been fired. He may have won his job back on appeal, but Rowan saved his ass from going through any of that.

I'm not saying the guy did what he was accused of. But I've read the investigation, and I ain't about to say that he didn't.

In any case, glad to see he has remained the REAL police, and came out of that shooting unscathed.

How many is that for H. B. now? I know it's at least two, I think more. Better be careful, Jesse 's gonna march on him soon!

Allegations are just that, allegations. Do you really think Rowan or anybody else would coverup something as serious as that simply because they worked in the same Distict may years ago? Theres alot more to this story than you are aware of my friend. Does the phrase bullshit mean anything to you? He wouldn't be the first copper that somebody concocted a B/S story on. And yes, I too am familar with the contents of that file.

The last of Matts friends from 011 just made Sgt from the test. No one else with connections is really left, so it's time for a new test. If you want to be a Sgt get in good with Divine. You can still try to get in good with Matt too (I'm talking about for the next test). Theses guys filing a lawsuit have gotta be kidding. This is Chicago. Not New York, not L.A.. This is Chicago. Get connected or find another job. You can always go to law school- The lawyers on the job get promoted. They are the only educated guys who move up a little on this job. It could be that they score well on the test (I really mean it). It could be that the city doesn't want them filing a shit load of lawsuits, freedom of information suits, ect.,. All Matts buddies have been promoted. All Peter's friends will be promoted. I'm sure there are others out there who have the golden touch. Not to take away from Cline or Divine, they're good people. This is Chicago.

UNIT 151-TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT UNIT.
BT. 3203 - NORTH LAKE SHORE DRIVE RADAR CAR. COULD THIS HAVE BEEN PREVENTED? YES, INSTALL CAGES IN ALL TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT CARS. THEN THE PRISONERS WON'T CLIMB INTO THE FRONT SEAT AND DRIVE AWAY. WHY DON'T THEY HAVE THEM? SECRET SERVICE DOES NOT LIKE CAGE CARS WHEN THEY ARE USED IN MOTORCADES OR VIP DETAILS. FRANK RADKE DOES NOT LIKE TO DRIVE A CAGE CAR WHEN HE BORROWS THEM TO TAKE HOME ON THESE DETAILS. THE PARTITION KEEPS THE SMELL OF BOOZE TOO CLOSE TO HIM AND MAKES HIM VOMIT FREQUENTLY. HE STILL THINKS THE LISTERINE HIDES THE SMELL FROM THE REST OF US. IT DOES NOW WORK FRANK!

Suspect a cheating spouse?

Now for only $89.95, you can buy a semen detection kit on the Internet that will process suspected DNA.

Check your spouse's undergarments for cumstains, CSI-style. If the reagent turns purple, file for divorce.
