And Speaking of Inmates ...

How long until this jackass gets fitted for an orange jumpsuit and a cell?
  • Prosecutors rested their corruption case against George Ryan on Thursday and his attorneys launched their effort to dig the former governor out from under charges that he got free vacations and gifts from friends who got rich off state contracts.
Everyone knows he's guilty. The trouble you run into with 18 week long presentations like this is that you bore the jury out of their minds. Big time. Granted, your Federal juries are a bit more intelligent than run of the mill Cook County juries. But still - 18 weeks?

We hope against hope that Ryan gets convicted and dies behind bars for commuting the sentences of cop killers and various other scumbags. Channel 5, Channel 7, Sun Times and Trib stories.

Did Daley go to the Detectives graduation yesterday or the fire recruits ceremony.

Any new dicks out there know?

Daley had a choice of either going to the graduation or going to the jail to see all his family and friends. Needless to say..... Jail WON!

Money for judges' security on the way

February 2, 2006

BY DENNIS CONRAD ASSOCIATED PRESS Advertisement

WASHINGTON-- Illinois' senators, who had voiced concern that $12 million they had helped secure for protection of federal judges was not reaching its target, say the Justice Department assures them the money is on its way.

Democratic Sens. Dick Durbin and Barack Obama said a letter Durbin received Thursday reported that the U.S. Marshals Service had awarded a $3.5 million contract to buy and install security protection systems for judges' homes.

"The USMS is in the process of negotiating a national maintenance contract to cover the ongoing monitoring and maintenance of these systems after they are installed," wrote William E. Moschella, an assistant attorney general.

Other money is destined for courthouse improvements to deal with security concerns.

A year ago this month, unemployed electrician Bart Ross, before committing suicide, killed the husband and mother of U.S. District Judge Joan Lefkow at her home in Chicago. The judge had dismissed a medical malpractice case brought by Ross.

"The release of this money is a victory for federal judges in Illinois," Durbin said in a statement.

"What happened to the Lefkow family is a tragedy that should never be repeated," Obama added.

Durbin and Obama had met on Dec. 2 with Attorney General Alberto Gonzales to press for the speedy distribution of the money after having heard complaints from judges that the money, approved by Congress in May, was not being used.

Moschella said the Marshals Service intends to have all security systems installed by the end of this year. More than 700 federal judges have expressed an interest in the program.

After the contract was awarded Dec. 12 for the home security devices, a new spending plan was necessary because costs for the equipment and related needs turned out to be lower than expected, Moschella said. The changes have since won approval by key subcommittees in the House and Senate, after being backed by the Judicial Conference, which represents federal judges.

When am I as a cop putting these shit heads in jail going to get free security systems and the maintance paid for it by the government???

Lets get that Ammo Tax bill going in the Illinois House. A 110usc. tax on each box of shells would stop the gang and gun problems in this city. The city supplies each officer with his 1 box of shells each year. Thats all each cop needs. Since they blow their uniform checks in Vegas.

Good job by the coppers in 016 who caught the burglars last night near Canfield/Higgins. Never saw so many squad cars in that area in my life! Thanks for protecting the Motherland!

( Not to mention all the off duty guys with their own radios running around the neighborhood )

I'd like to know if 1611 was on scene?

There has been a cowardly attack against Beat 1631 3rd watch on this blog for quite some time. The whiner had promised to go to the Beat meeting and finally confront the officers in person. That beat meeting was last night. Believe it or not 1631 had to leave the perimiter that they had been assigned to guard (Canfield and Higgins incident) so as to attend the meeting. If the whiner did not personally confront them last night as promised, then the whiner is a coward and does not deserve any service.

Now if we could only get the 1611 whiner to confront them we should be able to get back to living in harmony.

I am a copper and live on Bt 1631 and have read numerous comments on this blog so YES I did go to my first beat meeting ever last night, along with a few other coppers that were there. What a joke! Smoke and mirrors alright. They had these poor seniors eating out of there hands. I guess I made a mistake and during meeting I asked why beat cars is down 4-5 days week on mids. A few houses mouses looked at me like I was crazy and told people not to listen to me, beat is NEVER unmaned!!!!! God forbid I tell the truth about poor service. So yeah I did go and I will go every meeting, we need more coppers to go to this meeting. One copper after meeting TOLD me never to front off commander like that told me I read blog too much, I really didnt but now I will. I have nothing against commander but I have to live here in this shit city, tough shit. The commander gave standing ovation to beat 1631 for great job at Higgins but doesnt beat end at Irving? Tell that to my neighbor that had his garage broken into last week.....Now I know why 016 gets bad rap, Hey Bone come to mmeting so I can meat a real po in 016. 16 aint the only ones with dogs. Where ever law abiding good citizens live, they can forget about police service. Aggresive cops don't work there. Not enough over time. Bosses pull cops from those Districts to work the ghettoes. Shitty cops are attracted to the areas due to an over all lack of required police work. It's easier to due a report than to actually try to arrest and process an offender. 8 suufers from the same syndrome. Actually had a 8th District cop i haven't seen in a while tell me he dosen't plan on doing shit but a few parkers and an occasional t.v.b. " Why don't you bid into 8/16 etc?" I could try. But with my work ethic I'd probably get assigned to the shittier parts of the District, I'd have to count on the assistance of these shitbirds, deal with bosses that are tolerating these slacker cops, and be locking up my neighbors.
From what I understand isthat many cops that work in 8,16,etc. don't live there. Here's my solution. Bid into Districts where they live and return the favor. Cops in 022 don't like a lack of police service? Step up to the plate when you come to work in 008. I could esily go to work in YOUR district and find overtime ( any district any watch). But then again, in all reality, I couldn't bring myself to not protecting "my own" the P/O's, just to be vindictive.

To those that went to their beat meeting------

What the hell did you expect????

NOTHING is accomplished at a beat meeting. They are ALL just smoke and mirrors and a show for the civilians that show up. (less than 1/2 of 1 percent of the population) If you ever worked a Beat Car in patrol and had to go to one of those meetings, you'd know that.

If you need something done where you live, grow some balls and talk to the Officers assigned to Beat Car in person or walk into the Tact office and ask for some help.

You'd get better results that way.

I know there is strong sentiment against CAPS in the CPD, but I'll still defend one little part of it.

I for one am in favor of beat meetings, at least in places like 007 or 011. I've been to lots of these meetings and occasionally saw useful information get exchanged.

Most useful information ever? To a few of the older citizens who show up in 011 (and Jesus do I ever have sympathy for these people in a sea of savagery), I've witnessed the 3-1-1 advice given strongly.

As in, please make a habit of compiling a weekly list of non-emergency items in your neighborhood that city services can address.

Graffiti? Alley lights out? Potholes? Abandoned cars?

Please just look up and down your street and alley once a week. Compile a list, and then phone them in once a week.

Don't get me wrong, living in Mt. Greenwood I know to call for this stuff. I also know that the city's responses are timed by computer, and you can always call back after a few days to see where the status of something is.

But in 011? Specially with the alley lights and potholes... I'm pretty sure they are helping me AND themselves if they call it in.

So yeah, lots of smoke and mirrors, I ain't disputing it. But I'll be goddamned if I won't do what I can to help elderly people in bad neighborhoods get the government services which King Richie promised us all.

Come on now. You guys never saw anything useful at a beat meeting? Nothing?
