Our Thoughts on Hampton Avenue
We've been keeping up on the commentary in all the running threads regarding the street sign honoring dead scumbag Fred Hampton. We had a few thoughts we'd like to share:
- First of all, boycotting St. Jude's is silly. We aren't honoring just Gilhooly and Rappaport, but hundred of officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Who speaks for them if we don't march? What we would like to see is if someone can contact the Chaplain's and find out who makes those pins everyone wears to the funerals "In memory of ..." We print up a couple thousand of those with Rappaport and Gilhooly on them, you'll have people falling over themselves to wear them in the parade. Of course, this would occur in May - long after the decision has been made as to the naming of the street. Therefore, -
- How about a bus trip to City Hall on 29 March? Or at least a van trip? Pack the gallery. Let people know we're ticked off. Someone can bring this up at the FOP meeting in a few weeks before the 29 March meeting.
- If none of the current bosses are going to stick up for the dead, how about a few retired bosses? Any old time Captains or Lieutenants who used to work with Gilhooly and Rappaport? An old Commander somewhere? Someone who doesn't owe the city anything (or retired under a cloud)? Maurer has a job in aviation, but he didn't hesitate to let loose a broadside or two here and there supporting the troops - what's he doing?

Whats going on in the Area-2 D unit?
I have never heard so many detectives complaining. Moral is at an all time low.
When they opened up the bids several periods ago, numerous detectives bid out no one bid in!
In the past only a handfull of dicks would sign up to take the SGTS. test. I was just told the number this time in Area-2 is around 40 to 50% and may be higher.
So, what is going on? Why is the clear up rate so low?
I just took the dicks test should I be worried? I am taking the STGS. tast maybe that will come through first.
What's going on........Seiser's Going tact. Started cross dressing and is offered a position on 63s team.
If I can keep a few days clear then I'll fly in for this battle.
I think the CPD Nevada retired faction should be invited.

Morale is low in Area 2? Maybe you ought to ask dicks in Area 1 how their morale is. Area 1 is easily the worst D-unit to be in. The commander sucks and the Sergeants are worse. And no Lt. The St. Jude's Parade is ours, richie does not show up and I don't want him there. So let's Show up and march.
At the St. Patrick's Day parade, a large group of retirees and widows ought to lay down in the street in front of da mayor. Make him leave or step over them. Have spokespersons ready with stories for the media. Arrest them? Make the gold braid bunch do it.
This would be front page around the world. 2016 Olympics...not likely.
I work in Area Two and the morale is fine.

Anyone who thinks that Maurer (aka General Patton) is going to get involved in this is as nutty as he is. He is beholding to Da Mare for getting Townsend\\\'s old spot, and he is not going to do anything to ruin that. Besides, he is too busy giving away answers to promotional exams to his boot lickers.

I could almost see the sign becoming a sort of "capture the flag" game among the different units. The unit having possession during the St. Jude parade could tip their guiedon with it (pierced, of course).
Or getting a sign could become a requirement for each recruit class graduating from the academy.
FTO's could require their recruits to grab a sign while "wagon surfing" in order to pass their cycles.
How many districts still do "scavenger hunt night" on midnights. The sign will be on every list.

I rather see a nude three way with Allah, Prophet Mohommand and Freddie Hampton. All joking aside Fred Hampton was nude in bed with another male Black Panther when the early morning search warrant was served. Looks like the down lo' thing was happening even in the 1960's. The shots the cops thought they heard while at the door might of been the headboard banging the wall. But more likely the mattress was on four steel milk crates, a pile of dirty clothes next to the bed and a lamp with no lamp shape was on the other side of the bed.
As a Chicago Police Officer and a Muslim, I am shocked and sadden at these degrading remarks towards my religion. You white American Christians are the real root to all the current problems. Since "Hampton Plaza" is now selling in the $300-400,000 range for condos - may I suggest that those of you truly dedicated to defeating this stupid idea start papering the owners of these condos and apartment buildings will leaflets regarding opposition to renaming this street in honor of Fred Hampton. When they realize that their investments may bottom and the police response to problems on that block will be slow or non-existent, they may start coming out in opposition to the renaming. Remember, "Money talks, bullshit walks." These are the people who will be directly effected and I doubt that they want their street occupied by a bunch of gangsters in the name of Fred Hampton, Sr., or Jr.

LODGE 7 RESPONSE TO "HONORARY" STREET RENAMING
It is outrageous that certain elected officials are attempting to re-write history in an effort to make a martyr out of an individual who promoted the killing of Police Officers both personally and through his efforts as leadership of one of the most notorious street gangs in the history of the United Sates. No matter how often an untruth is told, it will never become a truth. We have been reading for days now about the “opinions” that these elected officials have in regards to what the Black Panthers and Fred Hampton stood for. The decisions of our elected officials as to whether or not name a street after Hampton should be based on fact and not opinions. If there had been a shred of evidence that his killing was an assassination, the federal Government would have discovered it during their investigation in 1969 and 1970. They did not.
The facts are that the Panthers promoted the killing of Police Offices here and across the country. Unfortunately their preaching met with a certain amount of success. Nine law enforcement officers have been killed by members of the Panthers and countless others have been wounded. In 1969, Chicago Police Officers John J. Gilhooly and Frank G. Rappaport were ambushed by members of the Panthers who used a shotgun to shoot and kill both officers. There is an effort currently underway to deport a former Panther back to the United States from Canada for shooting and disabling another Chicago Police Officer.
Attempts to turn this issue into one of race in 2006 smacks of personal agenda and will be shown to be nothing more than an integrity deficiency on the part of those who claim to be stewards of a movement that 37 years ago was as despicable as it is today. The attempts to showcase positive deeds of the Black Panthers and its leaders as reason to honor Hampton are purely transparent. The Panthers sponsored programs that sought to feed the stomachs of youth while at the same time poisoning their minds. The Panthers continually victimized their communities and the larger community of Chicago as well. In 1969, as damaging as a Black Panther Deputy Defense Minister making irresponsible charges which had no evidence to substantiate them were, they are even more damaging now especially when they are made by the same person who has become a United States Congressman.
The Fraternal Order of Police Chicago Lodge 7 is vehemently opposed to honoring any gang member. Doing so to one who promoted the killing of Law Enforcement Officers is disgusting and insulting. We will continue to do all that is necessary to ensure that this disgrace does not occur. We are grateful to all our members and the citizens who have called in with their offers of support.

On July 22, 1974, Huey Newton shot a young prostitute, after which he fled to Cuba. "I should have left [the Panthers] then," Horowitz says. In fact, many of his black friends in the party did depart at that very moment--a turn of events that enraged Newton's successor, a striking, charismatic and voluble young woman named Elaine Brown, who, according to Horowitz, said the party was under attack and "the rats were leaving the ship." Horowitz says he felt trapped. When Brown asked him to recommend someone to oversee the party finances, he suggested Betty Van Patter, a 42-year-old bookkeeper who had worked at Ramparts. Van Patter, who was white, eagerly accepted the position. On December 13, 1974, she vanished. A month later, her body, with a massive head wound, was discovered in San Francisco Bay.
It is a case, according to veteran Panther-watcher Kate Coleman, that has "haunted the Bay Area left for two decades." A lengthy investigation by Coleman revealed that Van Patter had discovered questionable activity--rackets, dope, prostitution--at a Panther-run bar in Oakland called the Lamp Post and had reportedly complained about it to Brown, who then fired her.

Making this St. Jude's Parade the biggest ever, and everybody there coached to tell the media how we feel also very good, but again a local story.
Having retirees and widows halt the St. Patrick's Day Parade by laying down in the street, maybe making Daley flee the scene. That will be the lead story nationally and be seen around the world.
How about having widows and orphans of murdered officers get in Daley's face on St. Patrick's Day and tell him how they feel till he turns green.

I just stole my neighbor's New York Times. (I'd rather be labeled as a thief than a subscriber to that liberal rag).
The lead story in the National Report, p. 12 reads Chicago Divided Over Proposal to Honor a Slain Black Panther. Pics include a head shot of Chairman Muthafucker's son and a cardboard "Fred Fed the Kids" sign* that was photographed next door to 2337 W. Monroe St.
Predictably, the NYT made no mention of the Gilhooly-Rappaport murders and that the Panthers later named two of their "clinics" after the Panther cop-killer, Spurgeon "Jake" Winters.
Also conspicuously absent was Ald. Haithcock's contention that "Off The Pigs!" was merely Panther "rhetoric" and trash-talking.
Then again, what do you expect from the NYT.
