Welcome to the Party Sir

Well, finally. A few words. A proposal. A gesture. And it means exactly .... nothing. Nothing at all. Meaningless words, a meaningless proposal, a meaningless gesture. And it's all just so much background noise. What we asked for was a show from the exempts, ANY exempt, SOMEONE to say, "This is wrong. To honor someone who advocated the KILLING of police officers is just, plain and simple, wrong." Is that too much to ask?

Evidently, it was. We get a couple of paragraphs from Sneed, A GOSSIP COLUMNIST for crying out loud, saying that the Superintendent is going to propose having 500 honorary streets signs for all the officers killed in the line of duty. Wow.

This isn't leadership. This is kicking a can down the road so some other poor schlub has to deal with it later, or might not have to deal with it at all. Do you know what this reminds us of?

Does anyone know how much a street sign costs to make? And they don't usually make just one for a block, they need two. How about how much is costs to get a city crew to hang it? And how long it'll take them to hang 1,000 signs? And the mayor selling everything in sight to fill budget gaps he can't possibly cover without massive tax increases. Are you beginning to see what we see? That this is a proposal to make the policemen and women shut up and think about other things and forget the fact that NO ONE said anything about it being WRONG to honor a scumbag. And if you think this announcement wasn't timed for the Unit Rep meeting today where the Unit Reps were going to take up the entire issue, then you're smoking crack.

As usual, you have hit the nail on the head regarding our lack of leadership. I am disgusted and sick at the way this was ignored by our supposed "superiors". We may wear blue shirts, but stupid we ain't. The idea of naming streets after our fallen brothers and sisters is an admirable one, if it had been proposed months ago. Not now.

It's always killed me how these stupid fuck political hack bosses think. This "suggestion" by Phil is exactly what I mean. They think we are so clueless and oblivious to BULLSHIT.

It is part of OUR JOB to detect deception and lies from the common criminal.

It is part of OUR JOB to be suspicious.

We are not like the common citizen. We are lied to on a regular basis. Some of us our better at detecting this BULLSHIT than others.

It must be a requirement to "think" that you are smarter than the common blue shirts, but guess what, boss(es), it doesn't mean YOU ARE.

Arrogant pricks.

you guys are soft. PC is the best supt this department has ever had. thank god he is savvy enough to keep the spot where he can do some good for this job.

He has always been a policemen's policemen.
He marched with the guys the one time the guys marched.
He is there when an officer is down.
He does everything he can for this department and you softballs slam him because he doesn't public denounce this street sign thing.
why don't you guys make up some sign and get your sorry asses down to city hall and beef about the sign; you should get some news time.
or is it too cold for you bunch of pussies.

Speaking of the top brass...Last night on the news there was a clip showing CPD brass at the microphone endorsing yet another one of the brothers who is running for political office. Question; does anyone out there who may be at work, look up the rules and regulations on the I Clear and confirm if in fact CPD on duty and in full uniform are prohibited from jumping into the political arena. Thanks...Stay Safe Everyone

"He has always been a policemen's policemen."

Come on, how long did PC serve in Patrol before he went off to the detective units? All these bosses and their kids go off to special units as soon as the probation period is up.
These bosses have a slightly more informed knowledge base about being a district P.O. than the general public.
The ranks above field Lt. are clueless about this job. They got the politics down pat, but job knowledge---zero.

Phil Cline has been a great leader of our department. He is a leader who has stressed to us all the importance of remembering our fallen. He must take a stand on this issue. He must speak for those that cannot. This idea of a perpetual honor for a man that advocated the killing of Chicago Police officers is repugnant. For Cline not to state an opinion is offensive to every working policeman. Phil Cline you have led an exemplary career. It would be a shame that you will be remembered as the Superintendent who stood silent when the memory of Gilhooly and Rappaport was besmirched. Phil no gimmicks, state the obvious, the sign should not go up.

On 14 April 1969 then Deputy Superintendent James B. Rochford removed his firearm and entered into the apartment of Frank Kulik who had just shot to death Det. Jerome Stubig, and Sgt. James Schaeffer, near 95th and Exchange Aves. After approximately one hour Dep. Supt. Rochford, while unarmed, took Frank Kulik into custody for the murder of two Chicago Police Officers. So far not a single exempt member of this Department is been able to stare down one black panther whose been dead for over thirty years.

when one becomes an expempt member of CPD you are lead blindfolded, into a dark candlelit room. there in a line are your fellow exempts each holding a wooden paddle, as you move forward you are cracked on the ass by each member with each swat becoming harder as you move up the ranks. as your reach the end there is an alter adourned with the skulls of superintendants past. your blindfold is removed and a gold star is shoved pin first onto your chest.

then mayor daley kicks you in the ass and collects your "balls" and the devil collects your soul and you are shoved out the back door into a stank ass alley.

that first check you get with your new raise makes it a little easier to reconcile that you just sold your soul to the devil for some chump change and a dog ass take home car.

What are you Morons on Crack:
lets thank Cline for the over 300 merit motherfucking sergeants he has made. Where is the FOP, that 300 plus people taking my stripes, my pension money.

How about his little secret units. Unit 606, 109 patronage patrolmen in the fugitive apprehension unit with take home cars and computers. No test, no nothing.A regular p/o is not eligible to work in the unit, but Sheriff Sheeehans son with four years on the job is qualified? How about asking the dicks about the cold case squad unit 601, you only get there through politics. Hey about the DC in the 001st District, merit sergeant now he is the commander to some of the most senior lts. and Captains in this city. . This piece of shit Cline is a Joke.

I look at Dana Starks who sued white police officers and gave a raced baited disposition. I had black commanders run him out of districts, look at his f/up at Gately Stadium when he made sergeant. Look at Maher. The next idiot to be promoted is going to be the whale Capt in the 005th Dist third watch who crys on domestics. Look At Capt White who hugs murder suspects on the street and in the lock up. None promoted by test. U say Phil is good.

I say God fd/over the CPD when John Thomas was taken. Kline probably was behind his death. This guy Kline was a Sgt. who was banned from the Federal Building and was waiting to be indicted during the Marquette 10. He should have been charged, ask any of us with time on the job from the west-side. He led a group of theives. Look at Cronin, a great copper, does this man deserve exempt ran taking your pension money. No test appointed gang specialist.

Look at the penis people he has promoted to Sgt. Bike boy the police boy who handed out the radios in narcotics sold tee shirts out of his unmarked confidential car etc, how about Maxwell Houses girl friends, three of them are now dicks. Look at the 1st deputies office, no whites need apply.

Kline had destroyed this department. At least before you had dicks, sgts. and Lts. who passed a civil service test and made rank based on score. There was politics but nothing like today, patronage hacks
destroying the greatest department on earth. I had a dream, Phat Phil was choking, I couldnt reach around him to do the Hemlich manuever, I used a jack hammer in stead, Phat Phil had the big one, I tried CPR by jumping on his chest thought I was in a neighborhood block party jumping jack, stuck a nite stick in his mouth so he wouldnt swallow his tongue, schocked him with a power line to bring him back, he started to drown, called the youth division, that much water wasnt displaced since the Edmund Fitzgerald went down in the gales of November.

This morons imprint will be on this department the next thirty years thanks to these merit patronage hacks. I cannot respect this stroke. He has stepped over all the guys who refuse to play the political game. It used to be us against them, the greatests cops and bosses in the world, not no more. I had watch commanders with balls who would have undermined these political a/holes who new where all the dark skeltons were buried. Now the men with balls are fleeing the CPD as soon as possible, to be replaced by Phils patronage hacks.

This is a done deal folks. Rush and Haithcock get their sign to qualm the potential political uprising in the Democratic party of Illinois. In return we get a few (under 50) street signs and some bucks from the mayor for the police memorial.

This sign ordeal was orchestrated by the Rev. Meeks and Bobby Rush to push the race issue into Daley's lap. They wanted to cause enough uproar to take away Daley's black voters in the city and suburbs. Daley fears the loss of his black voting block can disrupt his current control of the cook county board. He loses Stroger, he loses so much more politically.

There is another angle to all of this which hasn't come out yet. There are over 20 sealed indictments for members of the Cook County Sheriff's Training Division for misuse of Federal grant money. (Parking lots paved instead of buying vests for their street guys, etc.) One of the indictments is for Alderman Beavers brother.
Now see what a silly thing this sign really is.

Re-fuckin-lax !!!!

#1 Hector Silva

#2 Philip O'Reilly

#3 Benjamin Perez

Three recent losses to our family whose names, along with others, would have slowly faded from memory had not THIS superintendent fought to retire their stars. This act went against long standing tradition of not going against past Supt's decissions on "line of duty" classifications. Who made it happen ?

The police memorial will be a showplace where we all will proudly bring our friends, family and foreign police officers to reflect on our losses and our own memories, long after we have left this job. Who made it happen ?

The shithead aint gonna have no street named after him. Time is on the cities side in this. Ideas and speculation may make our blood boil, but it is only the act that would have any staying power.

The signs are ridiculous anyway. Should have stopped em when Hugh Heffner was nominated. May as well name one for Monica Lewinski. She has impacted sexual mores as much as Heff.

Tear em all down.

There are a ton of things going on at the sidelines....
King 'lil dick told the brass not to speak their mind, and "I'll tell you what your opinion is"... Fear is a bitch, aint it? What’s the worst that could happen, Field Lt? But remember, Field Lt with cops that would walk through hell and back for you! May not make up for the loss of income, but can you put a price on pride?

Rush is crying that the Supt is a "racist" (funny thing is, I know a racist when I see one, and they look like YOU there Bobby! Oh, I'll get to Mitchell & Beavers soon enough), and needs to step down, Oh, almost forgot "this is a political matter, not a police matter". Not a Police Matter? How the fuck can you say that? OK, Name a street after someone in the KKK, and see if you dont cry "Its about Blacks..." Fuck you, you terrorist!

Mitchell... Where else in this world can anyone get away with being a blatant racist? If there were a White, Jew, Asian, or anyone else pulling the same shit she does, they would be fired! I forgot, no one can pick on her cause she’s black. Fuck you, you racist!

Beavers, he supports the "fred hampton" bullshit! If anyone needs to step down, I think it should be him! How the hell can you be on the police board, and support an individual, or group who has taken part in the murder of the police? "...I was the police then, I know what happened..." was a few of the things he stated, and you have the balls to support it? Sorry asshole, time for you to distance yourself from the police! Or maybe we have it wrong; Officers Rappaport and Gillhooly are doing bodyguard work for Elvis and Kennedy. Fuck you too Beavers! you nitwit!

Cline wants to name 500 streets after fallen Officers, I think its a good start. What’s your next move? I did not read the article, nor hear his speech, so I don’t know its entire context. However, I hope there was a little: "I don’t support this idiotic bullshit about fred hampton, or the street" in there somewhere!

The Union, at least they expressed a little dismay about the incident. Along the same lines of the Supt, maybe? "Too little, too late" might be the words some of us are searching for.

Then there is us, the police, the "thin blue line". I have asked some of the officers I have run into in the last few days about 29 MARCH, 10:00am, City Hall, 2nd Fl. There were a few, yes a few, who knew what I was talking about. The sad thing was, there were many that had not a clue of what I was talking about! "what street?" was on of the answers. SPREAD THE WORD! We need to show some unity on the 29th of March. Its better to take a stand now, than take it in the ass later! Every one needs to show the politicians we are serious about this! If you are off; GO! Not in court; GO! Working 1st or 3rd watch: GO! Since our bosses are, well; "too little, too late" on this matter, and some wont stand up for what is right, or stand up at all: WE NEED TO TAKE A STAND! 29 MARCH 10:00am, CITY HALL, 2nd Floor!

P.S. SCC, "my little fish in the big sea"- Kind of a nice feeling looking around and seeing those fish just like you, knowing we have your back! The letter to the Supt, some of your finest work! As well as the retort about Mitchell! Hard to top what you have done in the last few days! Sad that it is needed, but great to know it can be done that well! If we ever meet, dinner and drinks are on me! Until then, lets go after some bigger fish!

7:16 is right on. The real shame is how corrupt this Department is. Nobody gets anywhere without "sponsorship," or blood ties. All of those special units work half days with extra perks while the beat guy grinds it out six days a week with time due restrictions.

Ask anyone why Gang Incompetence or Narcotics works a five day work day with F/S or S/M day off and they refuse to answer. Common sense would suggest they work the weekend right? Wrong?

That is why there is resentment on this job because those without clout truly get frustrated and begin a career path of apathy because their opportunities are limited.

And those who try to study to get promoted face a daunting task of managing thier lives while those in cush spots study on the clock and get rewarded. Others who are friendly with the "subject matter experts" get valuable insight into the test that dramatically increases thier chances for success.

If you try to ask about getting the answers to the test once you complete it you are told they are confindential and will not be able to view the test ever again. You simply have to "trust" these people your score is accurate. Doesn't this smell of something not legit? Wouldn't everyone like to see the test exam that scored number one to compare your own against? Not a chance in this Department, but the testing has nothing to hide were told.

If the brass truly cared they would state at the beginning of the promotional exam "we are taking 300 (or whatever) off this list and the rest merit." This immediatelty lets you know if you are in or out. But know they don't. Instead those in the 350- 400's are strung along for years hoping to get promoted one day to find out "thanks but try again."

If the brass truly cared, they would stop promoting the same people through the ranks meritoriously and say once is enough. But they don't.

So why does SCC and others think the brass care about a sign?

I for one think that "Cline's idea" is brilliant. Let these nuts have their one street sign - first it will never stay up and the resident's of that block will see their property value go into the toilet. OTOH the idea of 500 street signs throughout the City honoring fallen police officers is stunning. Think of it like a street fight, we've got one guy we're fighting with and rather than go mano a mano and possible get someone hurt, we all pile on the sucker in the time honored Chicago fashion. He gets crushed and we go home. End of story.

The idea is particularly brilliant if as one writer said, the exempts were ordered to stay out of the debate by Daley. Street signs honoring policemen is something a majority of the citizens will get behind and not really something which Daley can criticize Cline or anyone else for suggesting. I think it sympolizes a lot more support than most of you are giving Cline credit for.

There's nothing particularly wrong with the signs. It's who that is memorialized, and who that is memorializing that's troubling. But look at the big picture. According to the last US census Chicago is less than 34 percent white, and a good percentage of them are soft. Cline, Daley, Burke, and the rest are merely jackals trying to chew off the last rancid bit of meat from the decayed carcass of what once was a great city. Leave this town now and see how great it is beyond the stranglehold of democrats. Save yourself-Vote McCain!!!

I agree with 12:56

I think that was a great move by Cline. But I still haven't heard anyone mutter the word "NO" to these porch monkey's.I blame it on all of the politicians, It has to stop. All of these politicians are so worried about those votes. You should'nt be able to vote if you collect any type of funding be it city or federal. If you don't contribute by paying taxes you should not have a say about what is being done with money. Let's face it politicians promise to give and give for the vote.

Imagine if only the people who paid taxes by working, pensions house property taxes were only allowed to vote. Things would completely turn for the working people. politicians would promise to work for the working people in order to get that vote.

Im not saying take away from someone who is disabled, having a ruff patch in thier life. But take it away from blood sucking people who take advantage of us and use Section 8, Wik, Link,SSI,etc as a way of thier whole useless life. Stop fucking the tax payers and workers
