Memorial Day 2006

From CoxandForkum.com:

Please remember those who have served, are serving, or have served and given the ultimate sacrifice for this country and her citizens. Especially remember those Chicago Police very far from home this Memorial Day. Drop them a line if you can or check on their families. A small gesture goes a long way.

UPDATE: Rue St. Michel has a post up too. As do most of our links. Surf around. Visit and appreciate what we have in this country.

How about some good news for a change?

Just when we thought there wasn't much hope for our youth based upon our jaded versions of kids we deal with day-in, day-out, there's hope, my brothers-in-blue.
Cameron Schilling, a 22 year old student at Eastern Illinois University has elected to share his God-given talents with "Illinois' Finest."
On this eve of Memorial Day, click on his web site to view this young man's talent and dedication.

While there, drop him a note of appreciation. While were on the topic, take a moment Monday to pray for all our veterans. If you have a flag–FLY IT!
Stay safe.

[sorry for the repost from another topic, just thought it would be more appropriate here....Thanks SCC]

No thank you here.

To the above person:
I am reasonably sure that no veteran or even another American has done anything in any way to request a thank you from YOU! You appear to be a bitter little prick, probably taken off your mothers tit too soon. I'm not pissed off at you because I don't want anything from you. You are however an insensitive little moron to say something like that on a space where others are thanking their dead fathers. Enjoy your holiday.

Walking through the park today
The sun was set out west
He asked if he could share my bench
He needed to take a rest

I asked him what brought him out
On such sultry day
He said he often sits alone
And thinks of friends, and prays

He prays for friends who fought in war
The souls he left behind
Young, brave, courageous and true
They fought for all mankind

But as he rose to leave that bench
I stood to shake his hand
I thanked him for the life I have
And the freedom in our land

So if you’re at a parade this day
Have fun but don’t forget
The price that was paid for our liberty
For this you can thank a vet.

Thank you to all our Veterans and those who currently serve.
If you have relatives that served/serve, please support your local VFW.

And I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free,
and I won't forget the men who died, who gave that right to me
and I'll proudly stand next to him to defend her still today,
cuz there aint no doubt I love this land, god bless the usa

The General Order on Handling Prisoners in Need of Medical Treatment requires same sex guards so the female officers were correct. On the other hand, they should have gone to the hospital and relieved you in a timely manner and then requested to be relieved.

Just my 2Cents. Now you can stop whinning.

5/27/2006 02:27:47 AM

CORRECT, SORT OF...IF IT'S AN ACTUAL GUARD DETAIL (THE PRISONER HAS BEEN ADMITTED - ADMITTED BEING THE KEY WORD HERE) THEN YOU ARE CORRECT SIR, SAME SEX GUARDS.
IF THE PRISONER IS JUST GETTING EMERGENCY ROOM TREATMENT (IE. THEY'RE IN BED#1), THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH HAVING A FEMALE GUARD A GUY AND VICE VERSA, ALTHOUGH WE TRY TO FIND ATLEAST ONE PERSON ON THE CAR WHO'S SAME SEX AS THE PRISONER.

I also know a self admitted expert in the Sgt. testing program. This person told me that the second half of the exam will have at least one question regarding your true name/identity, possibly the question being: NAME__________________________

This person stated that he is about 93.2 percent sure that this question will arise during the second half. So be prepared.

Sincerely,
Ronnie "Backdoor Man" Lubberman

To all members of the CPD who have sons and daughters in harms way in the military on this Memorial Day;

May the Lord grant you at least one hour of uninterupted sleep as your worry weighs heavy on your mind in the middle of the night. Take comfort and pride that they have the courage and guts to serve the greatest country in the history of civilization.

Handcuffed Woman Drives Off in Cruiser
The Associated Press
May 26, 2006 9:31 PM (2 days ago)
FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. - A woman waiting to be booked into the county jail drove off in the arresting officer's police cruiser, still wearing handcuffs, then bailed out and made a run for freedom, police said.
Shalimar Hyneshia Addison, 34, now faces charges of escape and resisting and officer, according to the Northwest Florida Daily News.
When Fort Walton Beach police officer Brian Houghs stepped out of his patrol car to find a booking officer, Addison slipped into the driver's seat and, despite her handcuffs, drove the car out of the jail booking area.
Police said she drove a short distance, then abandoned the cruiser and ran on foot. She was recaptured after a short foot chase.

Woman Shoots Fireworks at Police Helicopter
The Associated Press
May 27, 2006 6:55 AM (2 days ago)
ORLANDO, Fla. - Annoyed with a sheriff's helicopter flying over her house late Thursday night, Marjorie Thompson ran outside with a bottle rocket launcher and started shooting rockets at the aircraft, authorities said.
Authorities said they caught Thompson, 44, in the act of launching the second bottle rocket.
Thompson is facing a felony charge of shooting or throwing a deadly missile into an aircraft.
The helicopter was in the area searching for a suspect in a car theft, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
The helicopter's pilot said the craft's flight pattern was never in jeopardy.

Man Fails to Pay for Gas; Owner Shoots
The Associated Press
May 26, 2006 9:28 PM (2 days ago)
LIVINGSTON, La. - Deputies arrested a store owner accused of shooting out two tires on a customer's vehicle after the customer said he had no money to pay for gasoline, spokesman Jason Ard of the Livingston Parish Sheriffs Office said Thursday.
The motorist had pumped $36.50 worth of gasoline, then discovered he didn't have the money to pay for it, Ard said. An argument with the store owner followed.
When the motorist tried to leave, the grocery store owner fired a shot that hit one of the customer's tires, then fired a second shot into another tire after the driver pulled back into the parking lot, deputies said.
Deputies booked Nardeep S. Bhullar, 25, the owner of Singhs Grocery, with aggravated assault, criminal damage to property and illegal discharge of a firearm.
Deputies also booked Chaz R. Watkins, 18, of Holden with theft of gasoline, Ard said.

I am extremely PISSED.

This morning I went to the cemetary to place flowers on the graves of my grandparents.

Later, there was a service courtesy of the VFW paying tribute to our Veterans gravesites.

Out of respect, I placed my hand over my heart and stood in place out of respect. Some other visitors there did not know what to do, one of which did not remove his hat.

This country has apparantly FORGOTTEN any sense of patriotism whatsoever. Barely saw any flags hanging outdoors, etc.

Maybe we need to ship THEM to Iraq...

what a joke
