A Very Cool Picture

Say what you will about this City, it's politics, it's residents and it's employees - it still takes a damn nice photo:

The buildings lit up in blue and the CPD logo and hat band on the left and star number on the right. This and other photos are over at the CPD Memorial website.

Maybe she can be your partner. Just be sure to grab those keys

The coppers that hang out at Dugans on a weekley basis and get drunk to oblivion...need to stop calling district cars to drive you home....either become more responsible or call a fucking cab!!This has become an "expected" practice every weekend....you need to designate a driver or save cabfare.

You guys are acting like grade schoolers. Remember that non police read this blog. Personally, I really don't like walking outside to be greeted by Pam Zekman or one of the other lesser reporters who are looking to sensationalize stupid stuff. Use your heads people. Quit giving people ammo to use against us.

Leave Eric's memory in tact. He was a good kid who ended up in a tragic event. It could have happened to any one of us. All of you out there know our lives can change in an instant on this job.

RIP Eric.

Once again Memorial day is upon us

A day of fun and relaxation

In between the parties and parades take the time to reflect

Reflect on the young men and women

Who heard another calling

Who left their families and friends

To fight in a distant land

To fight a foreign enemy

To fight for our liberty

To fight for a cause they felt was just

Shake that veteran’s hand as he sits

Watching that parade pass by

And thank him or her

For their service to our country

For the freedoms we all should cherish

For a country we call AMERICA

THANK YOU

Just a few thoughts............
As far as Eric Solorio is concerned, IF you want to truly show your support to HIS family [That includes 'US' his "Police Family"] then consider putting your money where your mouth is.**
Grab a partner or two and make plans for next years National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington D.C. , May 13, 14, 15, 2007.
Our attendance there annually is proof positive of OUR commitment to all our fallen brothers and sisters in Law Enforcement of our commitment to, "Never Let Them Walk Alone."
Give it some serious consideration.

** I don't mean this to be a put-down if you can't afford to go. I'm well aware of 'our' financial burdens, i.e. mortgage, tuition, taxes, car and credit card payments etc., to name a few. My point is merely to seriously consider honoring our tradition of saluting all our brothers and sisters at the National Memorial.
IF time and money play a factor in your inability to participate, then an equivalent gesture would be to honor our fallen by keeping them in your thoughts and prayers.
Stay safe out there and remember OUR " Thin Blue Line."

Asshat? Why don't you go fuck yourself. I was there that night. Were you?

That was a tragedy that could have been avoided many times over. MANY times!

People should be told about who they might be working with so they can take appropriate measures to protect themselves.

So take your self-righteousness and stick it in your ass.

As someone who knew Eric and the type of man he was, he deserved better.

Don't know much about the Eric Solorio (RIP) incident, but agree that we should know who we are working with.

Seems Gunther from Burnham was chrg'd. in 98 with impersonation and badges, but it was thrown out. Say's he collect's but he sells. Here th Chg. badges were very good, now would these be the new one's?

Gunther, 62, a part-time police officer in suburban Burnham, was charged under the new law Friday, said Penny Mateck, spokeswoman for Cook County Sheriff Michael Sheahan. Gunther was released on $1,000 bond. The law was prompted by a Chicago Sun-Times series that revealed how easy it was to buy police badges online.

In Gunther's basement, sheriff's officers said they found a legitimate Cook County sergeant's star that appeared to have been altered, plus 73 Chicago Police Department badges that were among the better fakes investigators have seen

How about some good news for a change?

Just when we thought there wasn't much hope for our youth based upon our jaded versions of kids we deal with day-in, day-out, there's hope, my brothers-in-blue.
Cameron Schilling, a 22 year old student at Eastern Illinois University has elected to share his God-given talents with "Illinois' Finest."
On this eve of Memorial Day, click on his web site to view this young man's talent and dedication.
portraitofasoldier.org

While there, drop him a note of appreciation. While were on the topic, take a moment Monday to pray for all our veterans. If you have a flag–FLY IT!
Stay safe.

I'll never forget that night of his wake.

With each step I took toward Blake & Lamb, my legs grew heavier and heavier.

Once inside, I went to his mother. Out of the corner of my eye, you could see him lying in the coffin. In uniform, looking so very young. Someone who will never be married, have a family...

You are a stroke! Why dont you give everybody her name in case they dont know. Or better yet send her pic to the media so the whole world can see the girl who killed Eric. IT was an accident! I knew Eric and her very well! He would have been driving the same way. He died being the police. I would rather work with her then all the idiots out there who quickly turned their back on her.

Hey moron, if you didn't know him personally, HOW DARE YOU attempt to speak for him!!!! Don't put words into his mouth.

And if you don't know anything about what type of copper she is, SHUT THE HELL UP!!!

You should never speak except from personal knowledge.

While I do not think she should be vilified anymore, it might do the other poster some good to know that she was not his partner. She was just working with him that night. I do not think "trust" is an issue here.

RIP Eric.

28 May,2006 Mr.6:01...First of all..learn how to spell jagballs....you'd obviously NEVER pass the Sgt's test and secondly...NO we don't have to give rides home to anyone...if you're so fucking stupid and I can see that you are,to go out and knowingly get hammered as in I know I am going to a bar and I know I'm going to get shitfaced...how and why the fuck is it our responsibility to drive your ignorant, stupid, drunken ass home?? You are supposedly a responsible adult police officer right?? Or mabye NOT....plan accordingly and arrange an alternate ride home or call your mama?? You are a typical jagoff who thinks he is king of the fucking world...you better open up your eyes junior...this is 2006 and when you plow into someone and kill or injure them...you WILL lose your job and the State's Attorney's office WILL try to put you in the penitentiary....got that pinhead?? What I am trying to say is that you should NOT DRINK and DRIVE and if you are going to a bar and havent learned how to handle your alcohol....you need to establish an alternate form of transportation....Ie: a ride from a non drinker or designate a driver...NOT the on duty police we are not your fucking taxi service you illiterate drunk.and its spellet pigeon dumbfuck!
