"Mini-Riot" in 011?
Seems the 011th District had some small problems last night. The citizens began double and triple parking up and down Madison Avenue from Garfield Park all the way into the 015th District and set up some sort of "cruising zone." And then it got out of control. Fights started breaking out, at least 3 fires were set in nearby stores, shots were fired and general mayhem ensued. And then the biggest crime of all:
No news coverage.
Imagine that. The rumors of a squad car being torched appear to be just that - rumors. The car over heated and burned and was not criminal in nature. But still, a few hundred "citizens" fighting and burning buildings? Why wouldn't the media cover that? Any 011th District personnel care to comment?

These kind of disturbances used to be a regular warm-weather event on Madison in 015. Was this related in any way to motorcyclists?
Always wondered why nobody would call for 40 cars at 2 AM to break it up and arrest en masse. Instead, it always seemed like the police were chased out and stayed out. Thanks Terry H!

As we all know the city and leaders of the department could care less if we're injured or not..Either they want to keep us weak so we don't upset the west side animals or expect us to solve every problem understaffed without incident. Probably both! As for the news, they only cover westside stories when they suspect the police to be wrong, and when they do, they make sure to interview the "most intelligent people." A few months ago there was a robbery pattern on the north side that the news covered. 6 robberies occurred with the offenders being described as 3 m/1's in their early twenties driving a white, Pontiac. I was on scene for two of them. Bulletins were put out in the neighborhood about the incidents and descriptions of the offenders were given to everyone. Channel 7 did a 4 minuet report on the story and only described the offenders as "three male individuals, driving a white Pontiac." What a disservice to the public the media is. I guess the physical description of the offenders may offend someone. So if you were watching channel 7 news, according to them, we should all just watch out for white Pontiac's containing three male individuals. Political correctness is hurting everyone! I would bet that if the offenders were white or hispanic the news would report it.
The media is a tooler nothing more nothing less, they currently earn their big pay for what? Answer, holding back full news stories. Blips and Blurbs of Dribble New Liberal main stream media.

I also heard the standards have been lowered to allow applicants who have been arrested for minor offenses in the past. Don't know if there is truth to that, but still, I feel bad for anyone who is going to eventually have to be in a car with one of these shitheads.

The problem with the Garfield Park fiasco, that will continue all summer long, is the alderman. Alderman Smith refused the requests of the Commander and Deputy Chief to have no parking signs/tow zones around the park at night when the park is closed as a means for the police to ticket and tow and disperse the crowd, which can climb from the hundreds to the thousands on the weekend. This was tried on a temporary basis last year with success, they got the message quick, but once it stopped, the problem continued. If enough manpower was available, the park, which is nothing more than a safe drinking and drugging zone, in the circle at music row,could be swept early with arrests made for whatever, drinking,dope,etc. and set precedence that it won't be tolerated,it might help ease the problem sonewhat unitl the parking sign issue can be worked out. The Alderman thinks his constituents would be effected by this sign implementation, even though it was explained to him that most of the people in the park are NOT from the neighborhood, and come from the south side and the suburbs, as this EVENT is advertised on the internet as THE party on the west side. It is going to be a long summer.......

I was not aware that our Dept. actually came up with a viable solution to the Garfield park problem.
