Why would Meeks really run, if it would take votes away from Rod and gave the Repubs a chance of recovering state government? Meeks made some noise in order to intimidate Rod and get some cash (and favors) for his favorite causes. Besides, most blacks are Democratic sheep, will vote for the Dems regardless of who runs.......

Vans To Target Speeders
After months of delays, Illinois State Police are gearing up to start using vans equipped with cameras to ticket drivers who speed through expressway work zones. The first tickets may be issued as early as Monday, a State Police spokesman said. A camera inside each van tracks vehicle speeds and then takes photos of speeders and their license plates, so that a ticket can be sent in the mail. It's $375 for the first offense.
They're naming streets after Leonard Baldi and Irv Hayden. They were members of the Traffic Safety Education Unit.
They were killed in different years while acting as the WGN "Flying Traffic Officers" giving traffic reports.
