Saturday Quick Hits

Just to finish off the week:
  • Evidently, the Iraqis are taking Public Relations lessons from some of our West and South side residents. From AP and Channel 2, "an Iraqi man raised fresh questions, telling Associated Press Television News that he saw U.S. soldiers beating an injured man resembling al-Zarqawi until blood flowed from his nose." Of course, it's an unnamed source and everyone knows that AP is blatantly anti-US and cBS has extensive history with forged documents and the like, but we're wondering if OPS got a call on this one too.
  • Those of you fortunate enough to have read "Oliver Twist" will recognize the Fagin-like similarities to these dumb kids fronting for adults and slinging dope for them. The old generation teaching the new how to perpetuate their own misery.
  • Stroger in the hospital - and back out again? Channel 2; Channel 5; Channel 7. In our humble opinions, Peraica is going about this the wrong way by asking the County Board to declare a vacancy and name a replacement. He's running against Stroger, same as Claypool did. Start scheduling debates and then show up to do a one man presentation and never mention Stroger (otherwise he'll get criticized for picking on a sick man). When voters see the Machine can't field a candidate to rebut Peraica's platform, Peraica's numbers will climb.
  • If this isn't one of the stupidest kids in the world, we don't know who is. Someone better fill out at least one GOCR (or whatever they call it in Michigan) with her name on it because she is going to be a victim sooner or later - probably sooner.

About Peraica:

At this time, he certainly seems like the logical choice, since there is no way in Hell that Claypool is going to get tapped. But his chances of winning, even against Stroger's drool cup, are slim to none in this crooked ass, race-means-everything County/city!

Peraica was getting my vote regardless of Stroger being a vegetable, just because I'm one of the few who don't think change is bad.

And for the record, Ceasar tried to lead the naked ride tonight, but his junk got caught in the chain right at the start, so he had to opt out. Too bad the coward with the hardon for him wasn't there to see it.

Affordable housing for who?

Chicago Has Some of the Best Affordable Housing in the Nation

THE HOME FRONT
By Don DeBat

Housing advocates always worry about the shortage of affordable housing, but real estate experts say Chicago currently has in place some the best affordable housing programs in the nation.

“Mayor Richard M. Daley continues to foster Chicago’s legacy of building quality housing for all residents,” said developer Ted Mazola, president and CEO of New West Realty.

Mazola noted that New West Realty recently utilized the city’s “Home Start” program to develop West Village Homes, a community of 86 condominiums and single-family homes on the Near West Side.

How 'bout a real housing incentive for PO's?
$5k savings over the course of a 20-30 year loan is NOTHING. Especially when your neighbors will all be named Joe.

I love how one of the most powerful official in our city is vacant from office!! According to some bobblehead Ald., there is barely no change whatsoever after a stroke!!!! YEAH

Can you imagine if Supt. Cline did the same thing? Disappeared and no statement, appearance, etc.?

It would be a scene straight out of Frankenstein, with the villagers descending onto 3510 S. Michigan Ave., demanding his head on a stick!

Luis Gitierrez txt. of prepared speech: City Club blueprint for a Mayoral run. His question,
CAN I HELP BY RUNNUNG FOR MAYOR OF THIS GREAT CITY? Bottom line-excerpt taken from suntimes and txt. of his prepared speech. His plan? You saw the march and this is how he wants to see Chicago.

Excerpt: From 5-9-06
Improve our schools. Reform our government. Invest in our people.

I would like to help Chicago reach these goals.

Should I be re-elected in November, my eighth term will be my last in Congress.

I will continue to travel the country and fight for the rights of immigrants.

I am building a new organization here in Chicago that unites the Latino community in new ways. Building coalitions. Setting goals. Demanding action and real results.

I can tell you that the march was just the beginning. We will naturalize our immigrants. I’m leading a national day of citizenship the first week of July. In Chicago, we will register them to vote. In Chicago, we will get them to the polls – in record numbers -- on Election Day.

In 1920 the Irish out-organized everyone. African-Americans did it 60 years later. I feel it happening again.

Because we can give working people in Chicago something to believe in – a reason to register and vote in record numbers.

Chicago is a strong city, a great city.

But it’s not great enough. Not for everybody, not for all of our people. Not when the schools still aren’t meeting our expectations. Not when government has lost control and lost touch. Not when the CTA threatens to eviscerate its services and we don’t even have enough affordable housing for our teachers.

I would like to help Chicago turn the page on the next chapter of its history.

Can I help by running for Mayor of this great City?

I don’t know. But I do know this: now that I’ve decided to leave Congress, I have the opportunity to become the most productive – and slightly dangerous -- kind of politician – one who doesn’t worry every day about getting elected.

Chicago could benefit from having more politicians with nothing to lose.

No patronage to protect.

No special interests to please.

I’ve already been lucky enough. I’ve been blessed. I’m the son of a cab driver who will have served eight terms in the greatest legislative body in the history of the world.

I look forward to more time with my family and my community.

But, it would be awfully hard for me to say no to a campaign for Mayor – if that campaign can help Chicago.

If that campaign says over and over again: better schools, reform government, create opportunities for working people.

If that campaign is more about empowering people, raising issues and taking on the status quo than simply changing the names and faces of those who hand out the patronage at City Hall.

A campaign that would rather tell the truth, and lose, than compromise, and win.

There is much more we can do together. Let me know what you think about the direction our city should take. How Chicago can reach its full potential? How can we work together?

When Martin Luther King led one of America’s other great marches, the march on Washington more than 40 years ago, he stood beneath the statue of Abraham Lincoln and said, “We refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt. We refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation.”

I believe Chicago has great, vast vaults of opportunity. For the people who marched last week. For the people in this room. For every person who desires a greater future for their family. I hope together, we can help every working person in Chicago to cash that check of opportunity.

Thank you again for having me here.

Who is MOVEON?
But MoveOn is apparently only concerned with Tom DeLay's ethical lapses... As usual, it isn't the ethics that are the real underlying concern, but it is a convenient club to knock down someone they can't defeat in elections. If they cared about elections they could start by demanding resignations from Clyborn and Thompson who were on the very same trip as DeLay and paid for by the very same Abramoff credit card. Call your MoveOn representatives...

Why did this org. miss all the democrats involved in exactly the same alleged conduct?

Word has just come that the US Marshall's office is investigating former Dep. Supt. Jim Wigham (Almost Supt.)- now Stroger's Chief of Staff for giving out badges while head of the US Marshall's in Chicago. Is Mr. Fitzgerald investigating? Did Wigham get dumped as US Marshall in Chicago, because of him giving out badges.

DON'T WORRY,
prices will come down because interest rates are rising and verry few potential buyers can afford the prices.
more units on the market taking longer to sell at lower prices.
that is the future.

So I guess nobody knows how Joe Airhart is doing. Is it that or the fact that topics such as the A/2 Gun Team, the Koolaid, Seiser, some imaginary pictures of some imaginary naked female Police Officers and all the other nonsensical, stupid, ridiculous, backstabbing, childish posts are more important than a brother Officer who was seriously and ALMOST fatally wounded in the line of duty. Thanks.
