Billiken Fallout
Well, the number of comments we had to flush climbed a little bit with the Billiken post. Seems too many people want to use ethnically degrading terms to describe the fine citizens who attended the "parade" and "family picnic" events that followed afterwards. As we moderate everything now, we are a bit more careful about what gets posted because NOW there is no plausible deniability should a slander lawsuit be filed.
Anyway, the media gave a huge number of big juicy kisses to the event. Tribune and Sun Times coverage here. If anyone ever offered realistic coverage of this travesty of a parade, we agree that it would be banned immediately. Well, maybe not. But having the same floats go by 3 and 4 and 5 times and having only 4 or 6 coppers trying to cover both sides of a full city block is not only dumb, it's dangerous. And people constantly rushing the floats for some half baked celebrity or give-away? And the roving bands of 100 or more gangbangers wreaking havoc on everything? It's like a license to misbehave.
Of course, we could say the same thing about elements of the Southside Irish Parade, too. Public intoxication, urinating in the alley and on lawns, open and lewd behavior of all sorts. Grandma would be very disappointed with all of it.

i think the real problem is that you all know youre out numbered and out gunned at the Bud Billiken parade. How does it feel being the minority for a chance. Thats why you want it banned youre scared of all the black people, Get over it, no one is going to break into your little houses in mt greenwood while your standing on King drive scared to death of those youre suppose to serve and protect.

If the media published what the police see and what we hear over the radio during parade time every year, 1. Half of citizens would say the parade should be shut down, 2. The other half of citizens would say the media is painting the parade in an "unfair bad light," and 3. Mary Mitchell would continue her refusal to place blame of teens and children who don't know how to conduct themselves on parents of teens and children who don't teach their teens and children how to conduct themselves.
i dont know what coppers are so afraid of.if the parade is that bad just ignore everything and let nature take its course.but then again those who work the parade are from the southside and whoever is detailed from the northside districts...oops dont forget the short timers on days
Is there really a difference between the Irish who march on the Souf side and the African Americans who do what ever at Bud Bilikin?????? Could they be the infamous and legendary Black Irish? HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM?

Did anyone happen to catch the commentator on Channel 9's parade coverage. he actually said that " there is less crime in the city historically on this day because it gives the people another outlet"
This was black guy that said this. i wish i could've stomached the parade a little longer to find out his name.
Ive worked the parade several times over 20 years...it's like all the rest. Lots of people,a few fools,a few criminals. Get off your horse of hatred and speak the facts.Again another day to manipulate the facts.No wonder you only get a few serious individuals and many nut-jobs on this site.
The Irish parade is not let go from 0800 -2300 hrs, the floats are not can collectors and teh patrons are not armed

Id like to take this opportunity to say what a complete piece of work Mayor Daley is.
He makes an appearance at the Bud Billiken parade and never goes to St. Judes March.
Any Chicago Police Officer that isnt offended by this is an idiot.

Great job to the TRU unit.
While protecting the homefront, they saw suspicious 2 m/1's driving around in Mt Greenwood. They stopped them and one of occupants tossed out a gun. A/2 was contacted because of the robbery pattern in Beverly and Mt Greenwood. Ultimately, they confessed to a couple of previous robberies in the area.
And get this..........They said that they were Mt Greenwood looking to do another robbery because they knew that all the Police would be at bud billiken.

only 4 comments on the Bud Billiken thread???...soon SCC will end due to lack of interest....this new format did weed out the crap but the new editing seems to have killed any fun we used to have. Hmm wonder if this will make the blog??
Nothing wrong with being the minority at a parade if everyone acted civilized instead of taunting the police, yelling fuck the white police etc etc, what r you gonna do now they are too many of us, that's a real good thing to teach your kids, wait most of the kids were already at the missing children tent/ cpd babysitting service. There is no comparison between that parade and ANY other parade in the city period!
What about the hundereds of lost children? They dont have this problem at the south side parade. Why dont we start charging the parents that loose their children with child neglect?

Who is anyone gonna sue? A bunch of anonymous people giving their opinions in a well deserved moment to blow off steam? Everyone here will admit that some coments are made in serious tones, meant to be offensive in that given moment.
Every human being has their RIGHT to that, regardless of whether or not they are a copper. These issues affect everyone. Is SCC getting scared of the nanny state, the special interest nerds, those mental health experts who may be lurking here, or maybe even the exempts?

Its not about being out numbered or gunned! its about not having to set up a youth division for the three hundred or so missing children!!!! How does that happen. How do that many kids go missing.. Mom what are you doing that is so important that taking time to tend to your kids is not on the list. In closing I feel the community need a new and real figure head.
