That Time of Year Again

We're speaking, of course, about the Pakistani Independence Day Parade and Festival.

OK, no we're not. It's Bud Billiken Day!

In one of the longer details of the season, the all day event draws police from just about every district in the city, reducing already short district manpower by another few teams and low seniority officers. Every year, the powers that be make noises about parade organizers paying for their own security. And every year, no progress on that front. Someone let us know how it goes?

I have to work it later today...already I have a headache just thinking about it. I am predicting there will be 250 lost children reported because no one seems capable of watching their kids at this parade. Don't seem to have that problem at the South Side Irish parade. Wonder why??!!

I've heard many guys say that "you aren't the police until you've worked the Bud!"

Well I am god damned proud to say that going on 16 years now and I've managed to escape "The Bud" every year and I intend to keep doing so!

I'm happy hearing the warstories/whining about it, no need to experience it for myself!

Why would it bother you to provide police presence at this family gathering. The City does it for just about every other group. Sometimes I don't understand the things that bother you.

Lets start a pool about how many missing children there will be and what the youngest age is. It will be hard to be a few years ago when over 500 were missing and the youngest was about 6 months...lol unbelievable, if the public only got to hear the real stories behind that parade.....

Oh yeah, first baby!

It was long long long. And then longer. I can honestly say I met the stupidest people on the planet today. From Jesse to the people shouting Black Power right in front of my face, to the bitch from channel two news. I need a few hundred beers after today.

Just got home a couple of hours ago from the mess on king. As usual no one was keeping track of their children, the parade 'floats' consisted mostly of escalade's selling CD's and the dance and drill teams were the usual mess of small children humping in the street while being encouraged by their granny and play cousins. The only new thing? It seemed as if there was even less of a clue by command staff as to what the event was and how it should be handled. Car 200 and 2100 seemed nearly lost in the confusion, and many of us were left wondering who had overall command of the whole event. We didn't even get post or beat numbers assigned and had to rely on trying to explain to dispatch where we were instead of bieng able to do something simple like giving a beat number and a post number and having everyone know where it was. This is a situation that could easily have been disasterous. Any changes for next year? Probably not...

Just got home after being there for 9 hours. My feet hurt and I have a headache. I have never seen so many loud, rude, disgusting and ignorant people in one place in my life. Unbelievable. Tons of lost kids. So many people talking shit to the police to their faces that we had to basically just ignore it because if we all made arrests that were well deserved, there would be none of us left. Disgusted at how many 13 year old girls were dressed like whores...then I would look at the adult with them and realize where they get it. There were some decent families doing it right cooking out and enjoying the parade with their family and friends, but the majority were ghetto thugs and their ho's. Next year is definately a good day to use a personal day!!!

A "FAMILY GATHERING"??? You gotta be outta your tree! Work this "parade" inside the park and you'll see what a joke this is. It's a reason for these gang-bangin' pieces of shit to act like the animals they are. The families represent about 10% of the attendees!

Just had a block party today in wonderful Garcia Ridge. Permit was until 10:00pm. As I look out my window now I see about 40 gangbangers hanging around their buddies Cadillac with the trunk open standing in the middle of the street drinking beer and doing burnouts in their cars. I have called it in twice already. Nothing yet. Actually, seems like the only people that participated today were the new "residents" that have moved in over the last few months. Seems to me they are all from Little Village and like to still act like they live there. Won't be long before the drive by's start. I've had my for sale sign out about 2 weeks, just waiting for some chump to take this house off my hands. What a waste of a good neigborhood. Thanks 008th district. I think I here them calling in a disturbance at Leclaire Courts, maybe you can rush over there to give them service, cause we sure don't have it here. Thanks also goes out to Phil, this is your neighborhood too, but what do you care, your retiring soon right?

8TH DISTRICT SUCKS. IT IS BAD ENOUGH THAT WE HAVE TO POLICE FOR 8HRS IN THIS CITY, AND THEN POLICE FOR OUR NEIGHBORHOODS FOR ANOTHER 16 BECAUSE THE 8TH DISTRICT SURE WILL NOT!

write the plates down along with description of car(s) and pass it along to someone in 008 or someone who can contact an actual working copper in 008. There are workers there unfortunately not enough, just yet. I hate to sound like i'm preaching to you but why would you sell your place? Because of that? What about standing your ground and not selling and making those pieces of shit leave instead of you? You are actually contributing to the cause of them moving in. I live there too and god forbid it would make my skin crawl seeing that crap too but c'mon man........you are the police, you are resourceful, give them hell and make their lives miserable too. We pay alot to live in the city in general so why pack up? Believe it or not there are a whole lot of police who would back u up anytime if you needed. Hopefully you are'nt some shmuck from anynother part of town just trying to stir shit up cause all the coppers I know in Garfield Ridge feel the same and they would'nt let any shit like that fly around their house. Good luck and be safe

Thanks for the advice but I have had it up to here on my block. Not just my block, but do you see the grafitti popping up all over? How about the gangbangers driving up and down Archer avenue with the music blasting, granted the Polish kids have been doing it for years but I would rather have them then the shit gangbangers looking for trouble. There is not major crime going on, just quality of life issues like the drinking on the street and the loud music. I have the foresight to see this is how it starts. I see your point in standing my ground, but something about saying "hey motherfuckers, I live in this house so shut the fuck up, by the way, I am the police but I am gone during the afternoon and my wife is at home alone, also, I have a nice white garage door for you to fuck up with your gang graffiti bullshit. Maybe you can bust up my windows too... but if you do I will fuck with you by locking you up for DC or drinking on public way or maybe write a few parkers on your car" doesn't seem to work for me. I can see where the neighborhood is going and I say no thanks. I can see what you are trying to say, but it sounds to me like "why don't you go to your CAPS meeting" and we all know how good that works....

I'm not talking about CAPS meetings, I'm talking about coppers in 8 or your alderman. Hey they do it in the ghetto all the time complaining on how they need attn here and here for every little fucking thing. I work gangs and you would'nt believe the letters we get and the crap we have to respond to. We should do the same and you should too! You wanna move thats your right but remember you are allowing them to do the stuff you say. Who's worse you or the 8th district? I know family comes above all but my wife has an understanding about this job and what it entails and believe me if I had to go out there and take care of business, there would'nt be any questions asked. Bust all of their heads in, call 911 and let 8 scrape them off the ground. Sounds like you don't wanna get involved but yet you choose to complain. Handle your business and people will be there for you. Or sell to the next "chump" you say and move up north. Or work here and help to contribute or better yet name the block where you are at and maybe it will spread the word so all of us can keep a heads up for you. Good luck and be safe.
