Dispatchers Get into the Act

New blog up and running. This has the potential to be a very interesting one. Almost as interesting as we are.
Chicago Dispatchers is a brand new site with a few posts up so far. It seems to be set up along the lines of this site, with open comments (which we expect will be over run by visitors from here shortly and shut down quickly), an anonymous author or authors, and a tongue in cheek attitude. The author mentions this site and one of the more out of hand threads we had up labeled "Bad Dispatchers" a few months ago.

It will be interesting to see where this one goes. The 911 center seems a bit more understaffed than we are, flooded with quite a few political hack bosses, and not just a little bit of workplace tension. We added a link to our side bar for them (it's police related) and will keep it up as long the site exists and is updated. Good luck to the new blog.

There is a CW2 dispatcher on midnights that appears to be clueless at times, what is her name? I hope she is close to retirement. If she is a PO what is her seniority date?

iNTERESTING, i WILL BE CURIOUS AS TO HOW IT DEVELOPS.

I heard they were understaffed and we are too!

But what the fuck is going on with all the federal anti terror money? You would think 1st responders would get the biggest chunk?
Police, fire and dispatchers all short of people! Terrorism at all time high potential.

Totally absurd. If a terrorist act occurs in Chicago it will be very BAD. The subway train fire was BAD and that was a minor incident!
RUN TO THE HILLS!!!
RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!!
THE CITY THAT SAY'S IT WORKS, BUT WON'T HIRE THE WORKERS NEEDED!

SCC Thank you for your support.
Thank you to the SCC regulars that took the time to check out the new blog, and share thier thoughts.
It's important that the new kids and some of the old, really do try and understand what hardships the police have to deal with, besides the usual crime, but how jobs are handled, how you need to order lunch then go down to eat lunch, getting late jobs, etc. We haven't been part of the CPD since Sep97. No longer being trained by police officers and the Corp Cadre. The stories that were told and the lessons to be learn are gone now.
The city didn't want the civies to understand, we were just to do our job and told repeatedly, "They are not your friends!". They being the officers in the field. I beg to differ.
The city wanted us divided. United together we would be a very strong entity .
Just the old divide and conquer technique.
Peace, Squad

you wounder how anything gets done in the City. Train a new dispatcher and tell them the Police in the field are not your friends??? What the hell is that all about.

I have heard the the Cook County States Attornies Office tells thier newbies the same damm thing.

And they wounder why no one wants to do a damm thing for this City any more.

1st and the 16th baby, that what it's all about!

Maybe the message will get out to all the dispatchers to stop askn' "what are you chasing him for" and worry about repeating my location and getting me and my partner some help in catchn' our bad guy. If the person we are chasing is wanted for murder or if he has a gun or weapon that can hurt a responding officer, believe me, we'll be the first one to shout it out.

Every zone and city wide has some kick azz dispatchers. On the other hand every zone and city wide has some really incompetent ones. Have you heard the male dispatcher on one of the city wides that sounds like he has a mouth full of candy. You can't understand a single word or sentence he says. We call him "mush mouth". Don't you love dispatchers that get mad that you ask them to run one too many plates. (If I had a pdt or a pdt that worked, I wouldn't bother the dispatchers). All we ask is Do Your Job. I'm not asking you to do backwards flips through a hoop. I don't know how many times this happens. They'll come back (thats if they ever get back to you in the first place) and give you a 'Clear-No Record'. You have another unit with a pdt run the same plate and you get all the info. Answer: The dispatcher never ran the plate in the first place.
Okay - enough dispatcher bashing. Lets see how their blog goes. It just urkes me because these dispatchers are our life line out there and unfortunatley a lot of them have NO business being dispatchers.

Well there goes that CW2, 1st Watch, dispatcher again. Excuse me but we are the police and dispatchers are here to give us information so we can do are jobs better. Dispatch is a Support Unit. I heard over the CW that a PO in the field ask for something specific the dispatcher is to get the info for the requestor. I.e. "Squad find out where the primary location of service is needed" Instead MS. Incompetance, says to the unit requesting, "Mobile with " "to get your information, I getting info for another unit." If someone in the field asked for clarification on a job she should just get the info. No wonder she is on a CW Band, if she were on a regular zone she will get a PO hurt because she can't do her job on a slow frequency.

Slightly off topic.....But what's this about TMA's not having any ID's? Who knows who they can be? For all we know they could have their friends filling in for them and have access to the zone. WTF!

Anyone else know about this?
