Border Control - NOW!
Incidents like this one point to the need for stronger border control and the need for it to be established quickly. "Quickly" meaning "Yesterday."
- U.S. authorities are searching for 11 Egyptian men who arrived in the United States last month but failed to turn up at Montana State University for a scheduled academic program.
- According to the FBI and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials, the men were among a larger group of students who arrived at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York from Cairo on July 29 with valid visas.
- FBI Special Agent Richard Kolko said there is no threat associated with the men.
Gee, a bunch of arabs from a country with one of the more violent branches of islamic extremism (the islamic brotherhood) has ELEVEN of its citizens enter the US on student visas and then not a single one of them shows up where they're supposed to be?

Sorry I'm late concerning previous blogs. Just wanted to comment on previous blog on retired Judge Egan and the BURGE REPORT. Swell! It comes out his nephew was assigned to A/2 at the time in question. I was assigned to the 006th District from 1981-1999 and there were no better Dicks in A/2 than Billy Egan and his partner, Jimmy Cloonan. They handled many of my homicides, robberies and agg. crim. sexual assaults (used to be forcible rapes back then). These guys went by the book and 9 times out of 10 arrested the bad guy. Lots of laughs,too. Good luck in retirement Billy and RIP Jimmy.
It's exactly for situations like this that we need more border security. Not only for the fact that illegals are sapping our resources by putting increased pressure on our school systems, our medical care facilities (causing hospitals to close), on our jails and causing an increase in insurance expenses for those of us who participate in having auto, home and life insurance. The flood of uneducated, unskilled and unwanted 'laborers' is a detriment to our economy.
What's going to happen to social security and other federal benefits programs when, in 30 years, the number of illegals jumps from 20 million now to 200 million? They'll be there with their collective hands out saying, "Where's mine?"
The border situation has been our national bugaboo for 20 years now and, sadly, it took the murders on 9/11/01 to give us a wake up call. Let's follow through and put up that damned fence already!
Oh and those Eqyptians? They're probably just touring the US giving seminars on Falafel making. Like the Pampered Chef parties .....

Wonder if those missing Egyptians are part of the group that joined Al'queada from Egypt? If so, we really need to find them and fast.

A word to SCC:
Just wanted to say that you are doing an absolutely wonderful job, and at times I'm sure you feel it is a thankless one. So a heartfelt thank you from one who's been away from the job a long time but often waxes nostalgic about the CPD. You write with intelligence and style, but most of all with a sense of good judgment and good taste. Your exercise of censorship is both appropriate and restrained, considering that the proclivities of some coppers will never change. I can remember the reputations of good men destroyed by gossip and the spreading of false rumor--unfortunately those attributes are not among our best traits.
In the final analysis, everyone ought to remember: It's SCC's blog. Those who complain should be thanking SCC for providing a place for their dialogue.

Has to do with a consent decree handed down years ago by a court against the city. You may not get into a person's residency status in and of itself. But in the course of an criminal investgation it is revealed that ole boy's not here legally or there is a terrorism alert on them, different ball game.

You sir are sooooooo wrong!!!! It has to do wtih an Executitive Order by the Mayor, which has the effect of law, that was passed several years ago. Chicago is considered, thanks to the Mayor, a sanctuary city for illegal, especially illegal Mexican aliens.

I was misinformed . It is nice to know that we are have this "sanctuary policy" in place, despite a 1996 law being passed by Congress that prohibits local municipalities from doing so.

OK, so after all this threat of terrorism, are we allowed to ask their immigration status or no? I still think it is up to the watch commander to determine what to do (i.e. call Immigration, ICE, etc)You would believe that the "think tank" at 35th street would know and/or address this.

Egypt is an African country. So, if these goofs were to become American citizens, would that make them African-Americans? Just a question for malcolm.
