A TCF bank was robbed Friday night on the Southwest Side.
The robbery occurred at a TCF bank inside a Jewel grocery store in the 3900 block of W. 106th St. at 7:52 p.m., according to police News Affairs Officer Kristina Schuler.
The robber is described as a Hispanic with dark hair and dark jeans, Schuler said.

OFF TOPIC; last nite i observed a car driving up and down the side streets around 6800-6900 northwest hwy and holmstead, they were 3-young f/b's and the car came back to westside,they were crusing real slow on the dark streets so being a good cop and in a unmarked car i followed them...well guess what, they were not looking to rob anyone,they stopped at every (FOR RENT SIGN) and wrote down the phone number..NO they did not see me,yes they were aminals from the west side...just letting you know there is nothing we can do about the apartment building renting to 1-female and then they move in 20-more animals..but i will make sure they dont walk the street's up here like a animal..just letting you know its not the 16th dist police fault that the animal is here..
Its our job as off duty P.O.'s to keep a strong eye open for this type of activity. We need to help 016.
We need to somehow gather together as many signatures and intell to stop these types of people from moving in.

The problem with only following them without them knowing is this.
If #1 you pulled them over for a traffic violation, they may think twice about relocated to an area that had high incidents of traffic stops and policing.
#2 if they were westside ghetto rats I am sure that the car registration, the driver's drivers license or insurance was in violation. If so, and you impounded the car, that would really make them think before moving in.
#3 Just because you saw them looking at FOR RENT signs doesn't mean they were actually looking for a place to live. The ghetto folks are great at scams. They are in the neighborhood to do burglaries or robberies and when the police stop them they say, Oh we are just looking for rentals and here is the list were have. To try to bullshit the copper.
#4 I understand following them first is always great, rather catch them doing something that would send them away for a while. But in the end, stop them, record them being there with either arrests if warranted or contact cards. So when they come back the next night and do their crimes the detectives can use that contact card base to help narrow the suspects down.
Use the job to do the best for all of us.
