Once Again, the Family Thing

Here's where the you always run into problems with Chicago and Illinois politics:
  • Edward Egan, the retired judge who headed the investigation of former Chicago Police Commander Jon Burge's alleged torture of suspects in the '70s and '80s, had a nephew working under Burge.

William Egan, who was a detective at Area 2, is not accused of abusing prisoners. In the report his uncle issued last month, William Egan's name appears twice as the officer who arrested Gregory Banks in 1983.

There are a million reasons to cast suspicion upon any investigation that the City has a hand in. Political considerations and who is related to who are by far the most egregious. The FIRST thing that popped into our mind when we saw the name Egan was "how many Egan's do we know on the job? Wonder if they're related?" And lo and behold! A relationship!

No one seems to be attacking the methodology of the investigation. But here is a wide open opportunity to drag this thing out for another decade or two. And the lawyers continue to get rich off of the taxpayers.

I thought the report was unfavorable to Burge and the Department? If that's the case, who cares if some one detective of a thousand is a shirtail relation to the judge? Is there anyone in Cook County/City of Chicago government who is NOT related to a copper in some fashion?

Typical SLUM-Times BS
The article is another attempt to slander Burge through inuendo.
Although the paper [No self respecting FISH would allow himself to be wrapped in the SLUM-Times] indicates that Bill Egan was NOT involved...all they wanted to do is throw MORE shit into the game.
Consider the source.

Off topic, but bothersome. I was watching the news tonight when our favorite and not very accurate Ms. Monique Bond was on TV talking about a Police incident on the west side(015 I think). This is the same "police spokeswomen" that refers to offenders as "victims" after they (thankfully) were unsuccessfull in trying to kill the police and were then shot and killed by the police. Tonight she was on scene after a police officer was attacked with an ax handle and attacked by a dog. She stated twice "unfortunately the dog was killed." She paid more attention to the dog being killed than the police officer being attacked. Please get rid of this fool! Why is she the spokeswomen? She must have clout! HAAAAAAAAAAAA!

More importantly a little birdie told me the city and department plans on taking away 3 day week ends. Apparently the 3 day week end has nothing to do with fop or contact and is a luxury provided by the city. They plan on getting rid of it to fix manpower shortages. I will be resigning the day this takes affect, good luck to all that stay.

I worked with Bill Egan at A/2. He was a good detective. More worry about making somebody laugh or to have a good time. He was never worried about causing anybody any pain. He did his job well.

But, at the same time, the alderman vote to force "big box" retailers to give their employees benefits.

I have said this for years. Egan etal got 6-7million to produce a report that is totally useless. Kaching.

Flint Taylor and a few lefty lawyers found a way to make millions in hefty fees- paid by tax dollars instead of contingency- and a verry very good living. Remember the cop killer Wilson was awarded 100k. Flint Taylor was awarded one million dollars in legal fees- ten times the amount of the award. All paid in tax dollars. Wilson did not get ten cents due to a wrongful death judgement the families had on him. Taylor still got his. Egan got his. The next lawyer(s) will get theirs. It is all about the money. Not justice, not exoneration or accustions, but plain filthy lucre.

That is all for now.

Take away our 3 day weekends?????

Then that would mean the end of the 6-in-a-row working days. It will only happen if it benefits the city. They still have to give us two days off per Sun-Sat, so the elimination of the 3 day weekend will actually BENEFIT us. This of course means it probably not happen.

You are given two days off during a work week. Work week has always been defined sunday-sunday. Your 1st weekend is actually fri/sat off for that week. Your second weekend is sunday/saturday, and the following week is sunday/monday. If they took away sunday on your 1st weekend. You'd only have one day off the next week. How they would be able to skirt that issue, is beyond me, yes, would they try? Absolutely, but, I don't believe they would want that lawsuit.

To the person who posted the city is taking away the 3 day weekend, The City can not ! Our pay is based on 2080 hrs a year, 40 hrs in 7 day's. If they took away the weekends, they would have to pay us at time and one half for the extra day worked. Not going to happen, enjoy your weekends.

I don't know about you guys, but every time I see that news clip showing the copper with the purple shirt and the star hanging around his neck standing behind the Cardinal as he exits his residence, I get aggravated. Who is this guy and if he's guarding the Cardinal, where's his weapon? I mean, WTF? Don't you think that the Cardinal would be a lucrative target for all these Islamofacists? Don't you think that this copper (if he is a copper and not a wannabe) should be armed to the teeth just in case? And don't tell me that he's wearing a ankle holster with a 5 shot Smith, cause if he is, he's more stupid than he looks. I say put a warrior in that spot and get rid of that two minute wonderboy.

BTW, no, I don't work in 018 and no, I'm not angling for that spot. I'm just embarrassed that they would put a pud like that in that spot!

OFF topic: the lead in story from channel 5 was BP will have to replace 16 of 22 miles of Alaskan pipeline due to corrosion. They've shut down those fields. What does this mean? 8% of our oil production is shit canned. If anyone here buys another drop of gas from a company that is raping the american consumer, whose profits are going through the roof but does not have the foresight to upgrade their infrastructure, then, have fun paying 4.00 a gallon next month. We need to send a message to BP. Boycott them NOW.

if you count up the days your slated to work in a year, not including vacation, your total will come over the 2080 hrs required for a year. For examlple(d.o.g. 3) in 2005 my work days totaled 262 days which comes out to 2096 hrs in a year. In 2006 i'm slated to work 263 days which comes out to 2104 hrs in a year. where's my extra bling bling for the hours worked over 2080? daddy wants to have a orgy with his buddies jack daniels, jose cuervo, and a wild turkey. count your d.o.g. and see what you get.

there is absolutely no reason to allow a sgt on the Board of Directors for FOP.

and the reasons given by the board for the membership to reject is total BULLSHIT!!!

In the past they have cited conflict with the State and National Constitution not this time because the provision in OUR current C&BY

do not allow a sgt to run for board office which is not the case with State & National as most of those boards consist of BOSSES

The State FOP Illinois has Turney as a vice president and he is a Commander with the Joliet PD.

the ONLY reason Voight and Majerczyk are allowed to stay on the Board is because they were on Donahue's City Wide Team and what is good for the City Wide Team is good for the membership

we will get more info out as we get closer to the September general meeting..

The lawsuit in federal court has been filed and Judge Lefkow is presiding.

My opinions are my own but your own common sense applies here!

the issues are straight forward.

Should sgts remain on the FOP Board when 90% of the issues are contract related and

Sgts ARE NOT part of the Bargaining Unit?

A constant question is why members don't participate in FOP?

I showed that FOP was filing INCORRECT Financial Statements.

I brought the information to the FOP Board of Trustees Chairman Rutherford and nothing was done.

I filed a complaint with the Attorney General Madigan and even though FOP endorsed Madigan FOP filed not ONE but TWO amended Financial statements for 2003

In 2002 FOP listed the janitors at the FOP HALL as the 2 of the 3 HIGHEST PAID employees of Lodge 7.
Make common sense to YOU!

I ran for election and as soon as the election was over charges were filed and the trial panel consisted of all Donahue's City Wide Team:

Sound like an impartial trial panel to YOU!

A member in an organization has the right to voice and propose amendments. I identified myself as I have here and Donahue and crew apparently are fearful of a member who stands up and uses those rights.

Sound fair to you-Stand up and your out!

Why would anyone participate.

Common Sense USE IT!
