Don't Question Their Patriotism!

From Hugh Hewitt, one of the most respected media figures, radio hosts and bloggers in existence:
  • The latest FoxNews poll offers the typically dismal results we've come to expect. Bush's approval holds in the 30's, and Congress is less popular than I was in junior high school.

But the poll also offers this stunning and revealing nugget. Fox asked, "Regardless of how you voted in the presidential election, would you say you want President Bush to succeed or not?" 51% of Democrats answered "No" to that question. 40% answered yes, and 9%, who are still apparently trying to determine just how deranged they are by their Bush hatred, answered "I don't know."

51% of the democratic party want Bush to fail and, by proxy, America to fail. They aren't just unpatriotic anymore - they are actively rooting against their own country. 51%. Un-freaking-believable.

Is anyone really surprised by that poll? The Dems have become the radical party of Jane Fonda, Jesse Jackson, and the rest of the 60s scum that visited us in Chicago in 1968

Wow! Unbelieveable!!!! Seems like everytime I look at the blog there are Zero posts! This new system really shows that 90% of the people that were posting on here were complete morons. Kind of close to our Departments numbers. My estimates:

Patrol: 65% morons
Detectives: 50% morons
Sgts, Captains, Lts: 80% morons
Gold Stars and Up: 100% morons

The Dems have lost all hope of keeping in touch with middle-class Americans. They are bound and determined to cast the U.S. into a socialist regime... Lets not give them a chance...

Dick Durbin - Barack Obama

That sums up what Illinois is about. Dick the traitor (for his remarks about our boys down in Guantanamo) and Barack in general for his continuing leftist positions. Barack the "rock star" is the dangerous one. I ask but one question about Mr. Obama - How come you never mention your mother? She was the one who raised you after your Daddy took off. Yet alone you never seem to give her any credit. Could it be the pigmentation of her skin? Ole Barack seems to cater to only one segement of the "voting" public. Memo to Senator Obama - you represent all the people.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. How can ANY middle class redblooded American vote for a party that allows people like Al Sharpton,Jesse Jackson,Whoopee Goldberg, Luis Guteriz,Carol Mosely Braun just to name a few, into their party or stand at the same podium that legitimate candidates do as the Democrapic Party does? They are so far to the left that the word "right" isn't even in their vocabulary. They are the party of the left, not the party of main stream America. They will do more to ruin this country than ANY Arab or Negroe could ever do.

Is it required by your train of thought to approve of the presidents unconstitutional and sometimes internationally recognized illegal policies to be patriotic? His determination to arbitrarily designate a whole new classification of POW’s contrary to the Geneva Convention has endangered our military in future conflicts. We may not always be the biggest kid on the block and he has set a dangerous precedent. If he fully believed his spying on American citizens was wholly above board why was it hidden and why is he seeking retroactive approval from congress? But mostly I question your mistaken belief that opposition to a politician, albeit our current head of state is opposition to my country.

My country right or wrong when right to be kept right when wrong to be put right- JFK

Um, earth to Lefty. There WERE WMDs in Iraq. They found over 500 banned shells, many loaded with mustard gas just a few weeks ago. Bush was right. And don't fall back to the old goalpost moving again by claiming it's "degraded" mustard gas - it's still a material breach. And when they dig up old WWI gas shells in France, they cordon off SQUARE MILES of territory while they defuse the things. In fact, the Japanese bio weapons the Chinese unearth constantly in their country are considered live even after 60 years underground.

Fillmore Ranger, you can't be that thick, can you? The Geneva Convention applies to uniformed militaries with insignia, a command structure and dozens of other regulations, none of which are followed by terrorists. And maybe you missed the news last month, but when they captured US soldiers, they didn't treat them in accord with the Geneva Conventions - as we recall, they we beheaded and defiled beyond anything the Indians did to Custer.

And keeping the methods by which we can capture terrorists secret? Um, read the papers today - the British busted up the current crop of terrorists via wiretapping, tracking bank transfers and cellular tracking - IT WORKS. And if they don't know about, they can't change their operational pattern to counter it. But thanks to the New York Slimes, now everyone knows about it and we're less safe because of it.

Bush Derangement Syndrome has taken over the left and blighted their thinking. It's knee jerk reactionism that everything Bush does is automatically wrong, illegal or improper. We are at war. The left needs to start acting like the enemy is out there, not castigating a president fighting 50 years of failed democratic policies of appeasement and capitulation in the face of islamic fascism.

SCC, you forgot to address one more from Fillmore..."If he fully believed his spying on American citizens was wholly above board why was it hidden and why is he seeking retroactive approval from congress? "
Spying, by definition, is attempted in secret. We were safer when terrorists were not aware of the strategies and capabilities of our government.

I'm a democrat and also a combat veteran, I hope the president is able to capture Osama and difuse terrorism. That said, I also think he's opened a Pandora's box of hate for us abroad, a situation that'll be with this country of ours for the forseeable future.

Regarding WMDs - If you remember way back when, Saddam was supposed to be in market for nuclear material, at least that's the way the administration sold us on the idea of WMD in the first place...it was only after none were found that any other items were mentioned in that context. Btw, didn't we sell that mustard gas to Iraq years ago, like when they were fighting Iran? I believe Rumstead brokered that deal. didn't he?

It's all Clinton's fault, if you ask me.:)

Hey,Lefty, you forgot "bible-thumping." God, I love it when you lefties stereotype us Republicans. It demonstrates how far out of touch you are. And it won Bush the last election.

Filmoe, you need to question your assumptions--you've set off running with armloads of bullshit, and itsyou're tripping all over yorself. The Geneva convention doesn't apply to terrorists, the Bush administration has done nothing illegal in gathering intelligence, and yes, covert operations have to be, um, covert. Just becuase the lefty press keeps repeating this stuff doesn't turn it into fact.

A little logic might assist you. To suggest that patriots are scoundrels is no diferent than suggesting criticism of the President is unpatriotic.

In a free society everyone should feel free to criticize his government, but constructively and IN GOOD FAITH in a way calculated not to do harm. Of course, as 07:09 pointed out, Dick Durbin is indeed a traitor. He attacked the efforts of our own troops in time of war, not in good faith and with a lot of hyperbole. Apparently he can't figure out which side he's on, and must have thought that would appeal to all those Dems who want the Bush administration to fail. One demonstration of his lack of good faith was his alligator-tear apology, when he found out his attack back-fired. He's from the John Kerry (another traitor)say-whatever-will-play school, with no regard for truth.

One shouldn't use the word "traitor" easily, and I don't. These guys earned the title.

No national leader is ever going to be able to please everyone. We are in deeper crises than we have ever been in. This is not the 19th or 20th century. There are more generations of those who hate us for reasons that are beyond any person's capability to list.

Whether or not these reasons are delusional and extreme, or even 1% legit....terrorists are using every peice of technology, everything and anything they can get their hands on to defeat our measures to protect ourselves, and contribute to protecting the world.

I personally disagree with the way President Bush went about *some* of his intelligence gathering, his methods and tactics of war, of military deployment, use of resources, and the like....but if you were him, would you lay back to deal with years of legal process, or would you chose to do anything you could to protect everyone?

No one here, no one anywhere in the world should claim to be a wiseman, to know it all, cause the fact is that no one has the answers!

Hey Doubter.....
Are you attempting to make the misguided, and false statement that christians or other people of faith should not count? Are you saying that God should butt out, or we should leave Him out of it? Forget the one who is the very reason we are free today?

I think you misread his statement, but puh-leese, leave the man upstairs out of the equation. If you choose to believe the Judeo-Christian side of god, then explain why a "good" god gave us free will??? The divine command theory really scares me. Then you can look at the "my ball, my rules" Islamic look at allah. Jihad, anyone??? Even scarier. I just think of him when I'm able to come home, go to bed, and wake up to see my family again. Who knows, maybe L. Ron Hubbard was right....

This is something i'm not sure SCC has interest in using blog space for, but I do understand your skepticism. I understand the place you are coming from. Maybe if you check out http://www.alphausa.org help of a more comprehensive and understandable construct can be found for your questions.
