Fidel's Final Act?

Fidel Castro: Comrades, our nation is completely bankrupt. We have no choice but to abandon communism. (his aides groan) I know, I know. But we knew from Day 1 this mumbo-jumbo wouldn't fly. (aides make sounds of agreement) I call Washington and tell them they won.
Aide: But Presidente, America tried to kill you!
Fidel: Ah, they not so bad. They named a street after me in San Francisco. (another aide whispers something in Fidel's ear) Is full of whaaaa?!

We suppose it's too much to hope for that Fidel would actually abandon communism. Many current democrats and our own resident leftists embrace it so heartily, it'll be interesting to see what happens once Fidel's archives and prisons are open and everyone sees what the media has refused to report for years in terms of human rights abuses and political executions. In the meantime, we can only hope that Fidel's most recent health problems are the beginning of the end of his four-plus decades of misguided rule.

This medical crisis facing Fidel Castro must be very serious, "Leftisbest", Det. Tommy Downs has flown to Cuba to be at Fidel's bed side.

Tommy Downs brought with him the rosary, the bible, a pair of chicken feet, a feather from a South American Flahoun Bird and special scented tara card candles.

Tommy was quoted as he left for the airport, "If we let Fidel pass away the world will NOT be a better place."

There was a program on one of the History or National Geographic's the other day about Cuba and Fidel. The poorness of the country was blamed on the long standing U.S. trade embargo. The country is so poor that the people cannot afford new automobiles so the streets are filled with 1950's vintage U.S. cars. These cars would be prized collectors items in our country and are kept alive by there determined owners. Savvy tourists to Cuba from all over the world bring auto parts, like wiper blades and spark plugs to use as tips.

Featured on this program was one of the Chicago Seven/Days of Rage/S.D.S./Weatherman/ defendants, Tom Hayden. Mr. Hayden was living in Cuba as an "economist".

Hayden of course also blamed the woes of Cuba on the U.S. embargo.

Now if the U.S. is the only country in the world with a trade embargo, if Cuba get tourists and trades with Germany, Japan, Italy and even.....France, why isn't the country in better shape. Why aren't the streets of Havana filled with Volkswagens, Toyotas, Fiats and Peugeots.

As usual, some liberal know-it-all like Tom Hayden if full of crap.

Remember Castro let out all the former prisoners, drug addicts and mental patients out of Cuba and they all infested Humboldt Park in the mid 1980's. Thanks Fidel.

lefty.....have you lost your fucking mind? What is there to be admired about a man like Castro? Especially a dictator who's been in power almost FIFTY FUCKING YEARS!!

Any person, and I do mean ANY person, who remains in real power (not to be confused with the figurehead Queen of England) for that long is an asshat.

Cuba will be better off when he takes the dirt nap. Maybe then freedom will come to the people of Cuba.

Um...lefty...I can no longer give even the smallest amount of weight to anything you have to say. Supporting Castro because the US has supported "far worse" is something an 8th grader would say. A really dumb 8th grader. If you knew anything about his regime, or any Cubans, you might have some idea...but I won't bother you with the facts-you've made up your mind. And you are stuck on the "it's cool to be anti-USA" idea. Wow. Brilliant.

Realistically speaking. Property in cuba should be investigated now. If Raoul doesnt want to play the game, we Americans should make it the "jewel of the Carribean" again. I think it can be done.

Killing political dissidents can not be attributed to the embargo. You're grasp of politics is overwhelming.
