- Mayor Daley's former patronage chief, Robert Sorich, recently testified under a grant of immunity before a federal grand jury investigating City Hall corruption, his lawyer said Thursday.
- Sorich -- convicted in June of taking part in a scheme to award city jobs and promotions to candidates with political connections -- appeared before the grand jury last week after he was subpoenaed, Durkin said. However, he said his client is "neither cooperating nor refusing to cooperate" with the government.
This makes the appearance of a former union official and alleged member of the Chicago Outfit at Sorich's fundraiser the other day that much more interesting. Perhaps our sometime visitor Bob Cooley could shed some light on how the Mob does business with City Hall and advise any of our readers as to the messages the Mafia might decide to broadcast by sending Bruno Caruso to a fundraiser?

Read Cooleys book. It spells out a lot of basic stuff about Chicago, like how much the mob depends on gambling to make its' money. If I a dollar for every dumb ass cop who has a bookie (not to mention all the other idiots) I'd have my yacht paid off. Judy Barr knows what she's talking about when she is asking for a casino. The only one it's gonna hurt is your local mafia scum bag. (Yes they are scum bags no matter how many drinks they buy me, sorry).
Caruso is an alleged mob figure, not bona fide. Alleged. He is also a long time resident of Bridgeport. His kid took a hit for beating up some poor Negro awhile back and went to prison. He took it upon himself to apologize to the parents and the Black community for his kid's actions.
He is also active in the community, the church, and politics. Why wouldn't he be there.
WOnder how many cops from the neighborhood and parish, current or former residents, were there. What does that say about them? Is the Department sending a message too? How many firemen were there? Is CFD sending a message?
It appears that even though this guy got caught in the wrong, he is very well respected in his community and parish and they came out for him.
I ABSOULUTELY DO NOT CONDONE WHAT HE DID OR THE SYSTEM. But, from what everyone has said, he is a good guy who made some mistakes?
Hey, haven't we all? And how many of us gave money and went to fund raisers for rogue members of our job? Let us not be hypocrites.

No he's a murderous thug who has survived to prosper only because law enforcement, at the direction of the mayors office, has either turned a blind eye to his activities and enabled him to continue operating. How about that unsolved 015th Dist. murder of the white kid on the westside who was going to testify at the trial against Caruso's kid? Fuck these cowards and their Bridgeport police apologists.

The mob has always has ties with the CPD. Furthermore, it was a Brighton Park Sgt back in the late 1940's who was told by upper brass to bring $4000 to St Jude's in exchange for a promotion.
So no, I never said I know everything but actually give a damn about what goes on in our city!!

If I remember correctly, the powers that be didn't think that the murder and the outfit kid's case were related. Seems like too much of a coincidence to me, but what do I know. And by the way, both assigned detectives later received a merit promotion to Sergeant. Another coincidence I guess.
By the way, I saw Ms. Brock at Starbucks in Lake Geneva a few weeks ago, what a smoking chick.

Get your Caruso's straight. Frank "Toots: Caruso is the father of the Lenard Clark incident. Bruno Caruso is the former head of the Laborers Union. Both are sons of long time Chinatown and 26th Street Crew "Capo" Frankie "Skids" Caruso.
