Dorothy Announces for Mayor
This would appear to be a preemptive strike, not against the mayor, but against Jesse Jr., and the reverend Meeks. Coverage at the Tribune, Sun Times, Channel 2 and Channel 7.
We've been taking a bit of abuse in the comments section a few posts down for daring to suggest that Brown might be a Machine plant put forward to split minority votes, especially away from Gutierrez. But anyone who doesn't give the theory the least bit of credence is woefully ignorant of Chicago politics in general and Machine politics specifically. Anyone notice the following?

So she has no obvious support from the existing political structure. Either no one wants to appear with her or everyone was ordered to stay away. And then this:
- (Sun Times report) In a hotel meeting room jammed with her chanting supporters, Brown repeatedly refused to criticize Mayor Daley directly and made only veiled references to the Hired Truck, city hiring and minority contracting scandals that have made Daley's life miserable for more than two years.
- Brown, 52, continued the kid gloves treatment of Daley during a frenzied round of one-on-one interviews that followed her announcement.
- Brown didn't even stake out a position on the big box ordinance now facing a threatened mayoral veto.
So, of all of the things Brown could use to hammer the crap out of Daley, she covers exactly ... um ... none of them. Zip. Zilch. Nada.
We stand by our previous speculation that she is a plant to keep Meeks and Jesse Jr. off the ballot. She's running a shadow campaign to draw votes away from Gutierrez who is probably the stronger of the challengers, based on his political organization and willingness to hammer the mayor on real issues that make real headlines.
The real proof will be if Dorothy loses, then lands a cushy contracting job somewhere or a shot at a congressional seat in the near future. Maybe even a judgeship.

I have formed an comittee to explore the possibility of running. I will issue a statement in the near future that will address the clamoring masses desire to have an effective leader.

The police scandals are going to hurt the Mayor. Soon to be announced but previously hinted on here, OCD's Prostitution money stealing charges. Good sources have related that a large number of "John's" and high priced call gals have been guests of the Special Federal Grand Jury. Appears that the Cook County Courts will handle the S.O.S. saga and the Federal Authorities will be handling the OCD Vice indictments.

Personally, I believe Dorothy Brown was put up to "running" for Mayor by Daley himself. Any other black candidate who runs against him will ensure that whatever black votes are cast will be divided, and he'll once again sweep into office as he did many years ago when Tim Evans and Eugene Sawyer played directly into his strategy back then. It worked then, and it may wind up working in the near future. One thing we all know for sure: with any reasonably intelligent voter, Daley simply can't run as an "integrity" candidate. The coming Police scandals (SOS, and soon to be revealed in the Prostitution unit of OCD) will only further muddy the deep dark waters of shame surrounding Daley.
But you never know...there are enough people in this city completely smitten with planters in the middle of our roads who will never focus on the deeper issues. Although I wouldn't vote for him, if I were a betting man, my money would be on Daley for right now, and the thought of that makes me ill.
If litttle Jessie became mayor, big Jessie would be running the show. That would be much worse than what we have.

If Daley were to stack the ballot with minority candidates, it would make no difference. Unless a particular candidate gets 50% +1 vote, there is going to be a runoff election.

As to Dorothy Brown running for Mayor, the only record she has to run on is Daley's. She is either delusional if she thinks she has a shot and is a shill at best.
As to corruption; waht does the Mayor have to do with allegations of corruption in the police department? These are only allegations of corruption so far. Wait until the indictments come down on these allegations.

Here is a question that has taxed the minds of genius and members of Mensa for months. It has confounded monists, dualists, and pluralists. It has been pondered by philosophers, ethicists, and scientists. Vast and extensive research and scientific investigation into the problem have been conducted with no real answer to the problem. Since the FBI and Federal Authorities are handling the OCD-VICE-PROSTITUTION upcoming scandal, rest assure that the indictments will not be announced till Christmas time. The Feds love indicting and arresting public officials during the holidays. They know that a copper sitting in the clink around Christmas is more likely to cooperate with the Feds due to the great mental depression of the time of the year.
If you look back on most high profile Federal cases, 85 percent or better break during the Christmas season. It's a psychological law enforcement theory that works.
So as the Cook County States Attorney's Office handles the S.O.S. allegations, watch for breaking news on the prostitution scandal early in December.
Word is there is going to some heavy hitters, both male and female as well as white and others...in this scandal.

WTF!!!!! I have to find out on the news that for almost as year and a half someone stole a computer from nationwide with all our personal info on it!!!!
How is this for food for thought. As many sections of the city near the loop gentrify and become predominantly white, or mixed racially, what happens to some of the Wards that have been all black, or mostly hispanic for years? As the complexion of these wards continues to change, look for credible candidates who are not African American or Hispanic to challenge the incumbent aldercreatures. You won't see it in 2007, but look for it 4 to 8 years down the road. I won't be here to see it, but it might get interesting, especially when the race card comes into play, as you know it will.

Like 09:22:02 stated in April, 2005 a personal computer was stolen from a Nationwide Retirement Solutions representatives home. Those are the people who handle Deferred Compensation. This computer contained sensative information concerning clients (me and you!). I just got a letter yesterday from them informing me of this loss!
How in God's name could that notification taken so long? Who is personally responsible? They offer a credit protection policy at no expense to each client. I am taking it! If it is offered, they must know more than they are letting on seeing that it took a year and a half to compose a one page informational letter! I am pissed!!!!!!!! Thanks for letting me sound off.

Wards in this city change complexion all the time. Garfield ridge/clearing isnt a polish enclave anymore what will zalewski do the 19th ward demograpics are changeing what will ginger do. Burke will draw the ward boundries however he wants so he is safe foe now. yes there are changes happining near the loop but they are happening all over the city, every 10 years the wards change some more than others hopefully this will lead to alot of new blod in city hall, but deals will be cut and the lines oon the ward maps will be drawn to make the sitting alderman happy and it wont matter what the community wants. Ward maps need to be taken away from the city council and drawn up by a computer with census data.

Regarding NRS offering "free credit protection": May be coincidence but I got a mssg. from ATT Friday that my account info MAY have been compromised and they offered 6 months "free credit protection policy." A little research later I called rep back and asked rep if the policy would automatically cancel after time period. "No, you must cancel it." Easy to get the sales department of any of these outfits but ever try to get the department that handles cancellation? I accused them of shilling for the policy issuing company and demanded more compensation (like phone minutes) and he put me on hold for a few minutes. "Good news," he states, "you're information has not been compromised-don't cancel any credit cards-we were just being extra careful. Buh bye!" Could explain why they weren't worried about this computer disappearance 1.5 years ago!
