Off Duty Cops in Bad Accident

WGN is reporting two off duty PO's in an accident out near Iowa. One dead, one critical. We've seen their names mentioned in the previous comments section and WGN released both names, so we assume next of kin and relatives have been notified.

This thread will be open for prayers, condolences and wishes for recovery only. All others will be deleted.

UPDATE: Coverage at Channel 2, Channel 5 and Sun Times.

Just got back from my property in NW Illinois; Im 1 minute from both Wisconsin and Iowa; left Monday noon, came back Wednesday noon. I hear this, and I have to thank MY God for my safe trip(s) which Ive taken for granted. My other house makes the CPD job worthwhile. Your in Gods hands on route 20 between Rockford and the Missisippi river; its mostly 1 lane per direction. Anyway my deepest sympathy towards the POs and a speedy recovery to the living!!!

To the families of both these fine ladies, I wish you strength during this time of great burden.

My utmost sympathy for the O'Dea family, as no parent should have to bury their children. God Bless you're in my prayers.

To Sheri's family, I wish her a speedy recovery, and wish her all the support and strength. To have to go thru such an ordeal, and lose you best friend besides is going to take some very strong faith. You're in my prayers!!! My thoughts are with you. God Speed.

If either family needs anything, I certainly hope they remember they to ask of their POLICE family too!!

We're here for you!!!!

Mary Beth's brother Jack, who was on the job, was also killed in a traffic accident a few years back. Their father John O'Dea was a solid copper that worked on the Southside. My condolences to the family on their tragic loss.

To my oldest and dearest friend Marybeth, "BUBBLES" "MBO" O'Dea: I loved you like a sister, I feel like part of me is missing. Here's to the days of climbing that tree barefoot, swimming in the pool, taking 1st in kittenball, roadtrips to Indi then and now, pretending we were the best skateboarders in the neighboorhood, dancing many nights away (even though I had to pull you up on the dance floor), concerts, Key West, waverunners, that damn pontoon, bean bags, Purple Passion, and having a friendship that would last an eternity. You are gone but not forgotten my dear pal. Life will never be the same without you, your smile, your laughter, your beauty. I only hope I can be half the person you were. You gave me and everyone you met your friendship, your loyalty, your love and I will never, ever forget you. R.I.P Mar, I love you!

To Sherry Catino, I met you through MBO many years ago, we've been friends for awhile now, we were partners on the crazy bike patrol. One thing I learned about you from that experience is that you are strong as a bull and you have the abiltiy to overcome anything. My dear friend, my prayers are with you and I know you will get through this. GODSPEED Sher! I love ya baby!

The Policeman's Last Roll Call...
The policeman stood and faced his god, which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shining, just as brightly as his brass. "Step forward now, policeman. How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek? To my church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulder and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't. Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint. I've had to work most Sundays, and at times my talk was rough, and sometimes I've been violent because the streets are awfully tough. But I never took a penny that wasn't mine to keep, though I worked alot of overtime when the bills just got to steep. And I never passed a cry for help, though times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept many unmanly tears. I know I don't deserve a place among people here, they never wanted me around except to calm their fear. If you've a place for me Lord, it needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, but if you don't, I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne where the Saints had often trod. As the policeman waited quietly, for the judgement of his God. "Step forward now, policeman, you've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets, you've done your time in hell."
R.I.P MBO
