Stroger in Trouble, Rod Looking Grim

According to recent polls, Tony Peraica is leading Todd Stroger 48% to 40%.

Stroger also clocks in with a 50% negative perception, an unusually high number that usually spells trouble for lackluster campaigns. While Peraica might not be everyone's first choice for Cook County Board President, we are of the opinion that any change is good change, especially at the county level.

And following the bad publicity Blago has been getting following internal strife with the State FOP (covered over at ISPeeved), AFSCME has voted not to endorse the sitting governor. AFSCME denying him support will cost him money and unpaid volunteer staff come Election Day. And while Judy is far from an ideal candidate, any change is good change, even at the State level.

Wouldn't that be something, REALLY something, if both Stroger lite and Rod hair-do BOTH get beat? Wow!....now if we could find a way top start tossing some of the other Dems under the bus, like Madigan, Burke, Daley, and 3/4 of the Hispanic contingent....now that's progress!

Do you suppose that the Toddler is really as dumb as he appears on TV?

I mean even for a Democrat he comes across as a moron.

Fellow liberals (and the disenchantened) do not forget Rich Whitney, the Green Party candidate for governor. Thank you.

why vote for someone who has no chance?

ok it registers your disatifaction but do you really think either party cares?
maybe throwing the ruling party out every couple of years is the best option. they will be so busy digging thru the previous administrations corruption they will skip their own (at least on the grander scale).

by the way anyone else thing Bobbie
Steele is retiring to get out of town before the dems lose the county and the new guys start looking into the corruption there that she has been a part of forever?

rsts deserting a sinking ships I think alot more pols are going to be pulling the pin pretty soon.

I have been telling y'all for weeks that I don't believe the polls that show Stroger with a big lead. If we all get out and vote and also encourage friends and relatives to vote for Peraica, unless the Democrats steal it, which is very possible, election day could be very interesting.

The Union, via the website, indicated that the Political Action Committee has decided on whom we should support in the election in November. They also stated that they would let us know when the next newsletter is sent out in early November on their selections.
I will bet that they got in line and are endorsing Stroger and Blago.
I endorse anyone other than Donohue when he stands for reelection.

According to the Tribune poll, Democrats are more likely to come out this election than Rep.

If this is true, than it is a precinct capt's election to win. The committmen cannot afford to give it up this seat to a REPUBLICAN.

That's his internal poll. It means nothing.

From the Sun-Times:

The results are starkly different from a Chicago Sun-Times/NBC-5 poll conducted last month that showed Stroger leading Peraica, 52 percent to 19 percent.

But Peraica's numbers are closer to a survey the Republican released in July that showed him leading Stroger, 42 percent to 38 percent.

Peraica's latest poll was conducted Oct. 2-5 by the Tarrance Group of Alexandria, Va. It's based on a random sample of 400 likely voters and has an error margin of plus or minus 4.9 percentage points, according to a memo written by the pollster.

Ethics is still the question? What question were asked within this "surprising" poll? Who was interviewed? etc. etc.

As my father used to say wish in one hand, sh** in the other. Put your hands together, what do get?

Anyone who has any notion that Jr. will not win this election is retired and smoking that most wanted joint already.

12:02 AM ("leftisthebest")

OBJECTIVE: Defeat Democrats Blagojevich and Stroger.

Why would anyone WASTE their vote on this Whitney guy?

Granted that virtually all local politicians are mealy-mouthed assholes, Republicans TOPINKA and PERAICA are clearly the lesser of two evils in their respective contests.

Keep it real, "Lefty"!

Hey SCC, why not start a topic on "Garza for Sheriff vs. Dart"? What do you think, I would like to hear what other people think, or who their going to vote for. I myself will be voting for Garza.

Hey, 10/10/2006 11:55:29 AM

You are a hypocrit (spelling)
What was the difference during the last election? I'm sure you voted for Blago, didn't you know it was Ald. Mell who orchestrated him winning?

How about Lisa Madigan? I'm sure you voted for her as well, and her daddy "little Napoleon"
Mike Madigan made sure that everyone endorse her, including the FOP over John Schmidt. So don't sit there and tell us that you are not going to vote for Todd because he is being shoved down your throat...

Its called politics, get used to it and stop winning. Todd is going to WIN!!!

Though I vote in every election (usually Republican, but not always)I am not a political hack, and am not involved in political campaigns etc. On this site I keep hearing the phrase "prectinct captains election" in regards to the Stroger/Peraica race. Are these code words from people more astute in the ways of politics than I am, telling us that the Democrats are going to steal the election for Stroger?

While I will be voting for Peraica, any poll with a margin of more than +/- 3% points is statistically invalid. Almost ALL
political polls fall into this category. They are mere propaganda.
