If we don't let Com-Ed charge wildly inflated rates for power, they're going to go bankrupt. Channel 2 and Channel 7 coverage.
What is implied is that they're going to pack up their power plants, shut off everyone's electricity and go home to play with their neutrons, electrons, carbon rods, coal filters and whatever else it takes to generate power in Illinois.
Typical scare tactic. Typical BS. While rates freezes are probably one of the worst moves government can try to impose on what should be a free economy, we still remember that Com Ed certainly isn't losing money by any stretch of the imagination. It is an impossibility to generate power and lose money - at least if you're doing it honestly - this is Illinois after all.

Economics 101-
There are government restrictions in a monopoly (power company), hence the rate freeze. That's how they keep 'em from charging whatever they want.

Correct me if I'm wrong, and I very well may be.(it was 10yrs ago and I was drunk) But wasn't the rate freeze implemented by the government for the last 10yrs to serve as a punishment for CommEd raping us previously?? Wasn't that freeze a court order??
That's why I don't understand why they're crying poor. CommEd trying to turn the tables and switch the blame to the greedy comsumer who wants to rip off poor innocent comm ed, instead of the other way around. Classic example of manipulation.

In California the government tried to freeze rates and now theyre always brown outs in the summer

I am not an Exelon stock holder just a retired copper who knows what you get for nothing
I have several relatives and friends who are Com Ed employees. They tell me stories of how Edison is Screwing their employees, cutting jobs and deferring maintenence all in the name of profits. They are very frustrated and unhappy with Com Ed. In fact as a group they seem to be as bitter and demoralized as the CPD.
Just think how you'd be bitchin' if you didn't get a raise for over 10 years.......OH MY GOD!!!
Com-ED needs to cease screwing around and replace the faulty generator, their waiting till it goes completely down even though they already know they have a serious problem. Which by the way always comes back to those of us trying to keep steady service going while flipping the bill and they want more? Did anyone send them the emptied tea bag in with their mailed bill?.
Telephone company likewise replace those faulty lines instead of waiting for further major problems to occur.
let's all get our own windmills and generate our own electicity....
