Quid Pro Quo - Chicago Style

  • After opening their first store in Chicago last month, there are new details on Wal-Mart's plans to build five more stores in Chicago. Crain's Chicago Business is reporting that the retail giant wants to build at several sites on the South Side.
  • There are five potential sites for a new store, 47th and State, 63rd and Halsted, 63rd and State, 83rd and Stewart, and 111th and the Bishop Ford.
Of course, all of these sites are located in Wards run by aldercreatures who supported or switched support to the mayor's recent veto of the "living wage" ordinance. Even if Wal-Mart only builds at two or three of these sites, the resulting high paying construction jobs created will number in the hundreds and in turn, the ripple effect will create even more jobs.

And Lefty? Spare us the tired argument that these are minimum wage jobs. Retail has ALWAYS been an entry level low paying job. Go take a couple of Economics classes (as the mayor and aldercreatures obviously did over the past few months) before you attempt to apply your socialist vision of Utopia to us.

Hey LEFTY,

UNION BUSTING??? Walmart was never a union shop, NEVER!!! Most of the big box stores and fast food joints are and never were union.

Please explain to us all where the "UNION BUSTING" comes in to play.

What UNION got busted???

I have always been a Union person utill I came on this fucked up job.

From another angle, look what the unions did to our steel industry. Look what the unions are doing to the auto industry right now. why do you think you pay $40,000 for car that worth about $15,000?

I have a brother in law who works for ford. He works the line and installs those little chrome lock buttons that pop up on the inside of the door. He makes about $75,000 a year and another $30,000 in benifits. What a fucken joke, all he does is complain about how tough hos job is and how Ford is allways fucking with the employees.

I have come to the conclusion you sir are a brain dead puppet...

Hey Lefty, Again as most socialists claim, socialism hasn't worked here because we haven't been put in charge. When will you learn there is no Utopia. Stop the socialistic drivel and come down from the clouds.

leftisthebest, do you agree with these statements since you made the economic Socialism comment?

Socialism can be worked into the current consevative framework without changing the construction.

Socialism does not mean taking away the first kind of private property, e.g. your suit of clothes; it does mean taking away the second kind of private property, e.g. your factory for making suits of clothes. It means taking away private property in the means of production from the few so that there will be much more private property in the means of consumption for the many. That part of the wealth which is produced by workers and taken from them in the form of profits would be theirs, under socialism, to buy more private property, more suits of clothes, more furniture, more food, more tickets to the movies.

More private property for use and enjoyment. No private property for oppression and exploitation. That’s socialism.

Sorry, this is long but this for lefisbest own sake.

Today’s Democratists, under the temporary leadership of John Kerry, continue to allude to the war in Iraq as “just like Vietnam.” Their purpose of course is to demean our country, give the enemy hope, and win the presidential election. They are unwittingly correct. It IS just like Vietnam. Traitors then and traitors today. No difference. Vintage Marx. Subverting our efforts and our country was and is the name of the game. They just pulled out their old and successful play book.

The man on the street today who thinks he’s a democrat and is following a democrat cause should be challenged with the following:

Do you believe: in the equal distribution of wealth; the fomentation of class envy and the superiority of a collective society; in the principle that government should soak the rich; in that perversion is a commodity to be virtued and extolled rather than just understood; in rewarding and encouraging the indiscriminate proliferation of unwed mothers; in that laws should protect the criminal at the expense of the victim; in that government should provide, protect and dominate your life from cradle to grave; that the UN is a viable, efficient and effective world peace keeper and that our soldiers should be under its command; that political correctness promotes respectful unity rather than resentful conformity and that free speech should be subverted to its subjective whims; that higher taxes are the means to solving our national debt; that government should fund everything that moves; that pitting class against class strengthens our nation; that money directed to the defense of our country should be re-directed to the agents of social engineering; that competition should be eliminated; that private corporations are the cause of all our problems; and that the student achievers should be held back so that non-achievers do not lose their self esteem.

This is but the tip of the iceberg. We are faced today not with civil differences of opinion but with actual pronounced hatred. An uncommon trait in the history of the American political system. This should not be unexpected since the leftists are now so much in control of the Democratist party and the American citizenry has been so brain washed and desensitized to socialist jargon, they no longer fear what once would have been a citizen backlash. The philosophy of Karl Marx is now unabashedly accepted.

Samuel Adams remarked to the traitors of his day ------ a day which recognized treachery on the home front, "If you love wealth better than liberty, the tranquillity of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen."

The last half century of dumbing down our education system and its graduates has taken its toll. Not knowing American history and not being able to develop a feel as to the tremendous sacrifices of our forefathers in bringing us to where we are has been an invitation to not taking advantage of its fulfillments, unwittingly repeating its former mistakes and not appreciating fully the wonderment of its unique creation.

The democrats who today are ignorantly supporting the democratists must take heed. Open your eyes, listen to what these traitors are saying, re-ignite your beliefs in this the greatest country in the world and act accordingly.

wow, the retail theft case reports will explode into unbelievable numbers if they set up shop in any of those areas. especially englewood. what a shame. they should realize walmart is good at providing not too expensive goods for the poor in that neighborhood. too bad the neighborhood will find it even cheaper by stealing it.

Yeah, well, we have Frank "the inspiration for the movie Weekend at Bernie's" Olivio, Ward 13.

Apparently he has clout to connect his name with Madigan, since he hasn't done shit for our neighborhood...

In response to some comments:
"top non union employer in the country"--Well, I have family members who have worked for Wal-Mart for years. One cousin started out as a cashier and is now a store manager that Wallyworld sent to college and supported during a long term illness even though she couldn't work. Another is now a regional manager that also worked his way up from the bottom. There aren't many companies that encourage that anymore.

"Any and all of these locations will quickly become the shoplifting capitol(s) of the world."
Most Wallyworlds have top of the line surveillance systems, we'll be doing lots of retail arrests.

"Why not one in white area?"
Politics, that's why.

"Sorry, this is long but this for lefisbest own sake."
You could have written a novel and lefty wouldn't get it. They will only understand how screwed up they are when the US has fallen and we're being ruled by someone else. I'm afraid you could take a crap on lefty's living room floor and instead of stomping you in the dirt, he/she sould say "at least they felt free to express themselves". Tolerance is going to be the road to hell for us. Unfortunately, by the time the left figures out we need to be united instead of left and right with room for a 300 car freight train between, it will be too late.

Thanks for letting me vent.
