Shouldn't He Be Playing for Chicago?

  • Magglio Ordonez walked slowly out of the batter's box to watch the ball's flight Saturday night, and then he raised his right fist to confirm his redemption.

After watching his former White Sox teammates win the World Series one year after he left, Ordonez will make the same trip after launching a dramatic three-run home run - his second homer of the game - with two out in the ninth inning that vaulted the Detroit Tigers to a 6-3 comeback win and completed a four-game sweep of Oakland in the American League Championship Series.
Unfortunately, we are cursed with the uncommon disease of liking hockey. Uncommon in that maybe 10,000 people in this town even follow the game anymore (Blackhawks lost tonight 4-3 to hated St. Louis). We are aware of enough baseball history in this town to wonder if this wasn't one of the more boneheaded moves by the Sox. Anyone care to enlighten us?

I'll take Jermaine Dye over Magglio Ordonez anyday, especially when you consider that Magglio is making 5 times more money than Dye.

Maglio: Hey, we all liked the guy in the Sox right field but if you recall he refused to let Sox doctors examine his previously bad leg prior to signing a contract.

Also his moving freed up the cash that made the trades that won the World series possible.

You have to be kidding. You pick, Jermaine Dye or Maggs in right field for the Sox. Let's see, Dye is faster, higher batting and fielding average, better power numbers, more rbi, stronger arm and is able to run down the ball hit in the gap. Mags????, not even close. The Sox aren't in the playoffs because the pitching staff let the team down. Congrats to the Tigers and Magglio, it's like watching the Sox last year, but for my money the right guy in right field is for the Sox is Dye.

Ordonez was an excellent player here, but there were salary issues, and injury issues, plus he didn't get along with Ozzie. (They since have made up) Jermaine Dye, who replaced Ordonez in right field is every bit as good. The Sox failure to repeat was not because of Ordonez, or Dye, who was probably the team's most valuable player last year, but because of the decline in their pitching, primiarily the bull pen. The Sox will make adjustments and will have an excellent year next year. As far as letting Ordonez go, at the time the move wasn't all that bone headed.

The White Sox are a better team without him. He was disgruntled , that is why they got rid of that long haired freak. He is one of the few MLB players that looks like a BITCH. Fuck him and I hope that Detroit loses, they suck too.

Mags had a possible career threating injury before the sox let him go-he has come back from it 100% (if only we knew then what we know now-can't blame sox for not gambling on him). although we loved Mags, J. Dye is still an improvement on the team.

Good for Maggs, he's a class act.

RE: Magglio's knee injury, I didn't know that an injury to your knee would cause your forearms to shrink so much! Ordonez was a fuckin juice baby, and DYE should be the AL MVP! Fuck the Tigers
