Results Are In!

No, not the Sergeant's results. Those aren't going to be anywhere near released until the class of 50 or 60 that is currently with the Detective Division is appointed to the Pre-Service Sergeant Training segment of the promotional process, possibly before the end of November.

No, we're talking about the Entrance Exam results from the test way back in January or February of this year. A couple of friends of ours (and more than a few relatives) finally got their results back earlier this week. Evidently, the city is now throwing all the qualified applicants into a pool with a "randomly" assigned number based on the position of the sun in the southern sky on the 5th Tuesday of the month, but only when Saturn is in the seventh house...

...or your Social Security number is close enough to one of the heavier members of the political infrastructure - whichever is more beneficial to the establishment. Just like what they are trying to do with the Fire Department.

This system of hiring "randomly" insults our intelligence. But, I have to give Daley and the rest of the political hacks some credit for having the AUDACITY to try and pull the wool over our eyes when Fitzgerald is in town sweeping things up. I think there should be an independent or Federally appointed agent to over see the "randomness" of this selection process for both police and fire new hires. If the selection process is transparent for all to see, then I can see some legitimacy, but if the "randomness" is conducted behind the curtain, then I have to call bull shit. This city is un-f!@#ing-believable!!!

Check this out, there is an underground movement by CPD personnal to rally behind the cops with 20plus CR#'s. Pamphlets have been passed out, memos given. The plan? NOT TO SWIPE. NO MORE SWIPING. Even if it means a bonified day off...NO SWIPING. This is some solidarity and after what i heard tonight after having 21 years on the job, I'll join in. Never thought I would, but something has got to be done. At least it's a start. The next thing planned was a Blue Flu scheduled for a future date. Officers have called FOP and have been told by the union officials they can't do anything. Huh? Why can't we just strike? Why not?

Just to note: Advocating or participating in any form of slowdown, "Blue Flu," or talk of a strike is grounds for a CR investigation and immediate dismissal from the Department.

Just thought I'd point that out.

And I'd also point out that there is no penalty involved in following every single policy, procedure and guideline to the exact letter. No shortcuts, no we'll take care of that later, no "19P covers all" attitude. You want to see how fast this Department grinds to a halt? Start following the orders to a "T." Guaranteed backlog within one hour, even in the 016th District.

There is already a back log everyday in the districts....SO WHAT. This administration doesn't give a shit. They are concerned about the black vote and that is it. As soon as we unite under a common cause let me know. Until then quit complaining. It's time to put up or shutup.

Public Safety cannot strike, period. The only thing we can do is be like 025 and a few other north side districts did a few years ago, NOTHING! no movers, parkers, curfews, bus checks, arrests etc. Just answer calls in a timely manner, taking as much time as is needed for each call; everyone gets a report for everything! no talking people out of it or making a burglary a cdtp etc. let the stats spike! only arrest when absolutely needed, domestics etc. let the public know how few officers are actually working out there. The only part of this program that is grievable is the trr portion.... good luck!

But the not swiping thing is worth consideration. They woyld shit bigtime! The press would pick up on it immediately.

It would bring the stupidity and unfairness of these tests to public attention.

"Stop working for one day and send a message. Lets UNITE for a common cause. No movers, parkers, no arrests no nothing for one day I will guarantee the city will get the message."

A good idea in theory. However, one can get FIRED for even advocating that. You think the city is going to put up with us having any power? Not when there are millions of dollars at stake.

Secondly, there is no way that would work. Even if a bunch of P.O.'s said "good idea, lets do it," there would be too many kiss asses who wouldn't. Not to mention all the tact teams, gang teams and units that would dump their guys if they did that. All the Commander has to do is order them to bring in parkers/movers/anov's etc.

Again, good idea in theory but we are not united enough to make it work.

What? Please. There are about 8 THOUSAND streeet cops. Who, in their right mind, is going to file 8 THOUSAND cr's? What are they going to do, suspend us? "You didnt come in to work last tuesday, so you are all suspended for another day!" Cool. I think the 130 buks after tax is well worth rattling a cage. And PLEASE dont start this "we will get fired crap". Who will replace us? The national guard? It takes 10 months to post a list!!! Daley may hate us, but he needs us. IF he fires us, there go 8 thousand tax paying city workers. Its people that think like you that keep the rest of us in limbo. Thanks. And we are allowed to discuss current political events. Events like a corrupt city fixing a hiring exam for a position of public trust. If you want a cr on someone, go to headquarters. I hope fitzgerald is en route! "ohhhh, dont even talk about strinking, you're in trouuuble!" Please. Get over your scared self. Or do you have a spot, off the street, and are scared to death that you will have to work the street for a day once we are suspended or fired?! HA!

04:02:31 is correct. The Brass has been working for well over a year on a new program for grading officers. The grade will be by activity, injuries, etc. If your grade is below a certain level you will be a personel concern and can get seperated from the CPD.

The dept has taken the Theory X style of management to the fullest. They hate us!!! If you don't think that your wrong. The special people are already in special places and won't have to worry about this. Those that think they can hide are dead wrong. The dept is determined to get the fullest out of those that work the street (The people they don't care about). They don't care if they have to fire you. This is the citys #1 goal in the upcoming union contract. They have crossed their I's and dotted their T's with the corp counsel. The FOP is aware of this. The FOP is waiting for the final draft to see how it might violate the union contract we currently have.

Those of you who blast the FOP should listen to them once and a while. Several people have also suggested the same thing the FOP always suggests. Follow the dam GO's!!!!!!! Why do officers constantly take burglar alarms 99???? Make someone go with you. If a car isn't available make a Sgt go with. The days of getting breaks are over. Make the bosses and or supervisors really earn their checks. Make sure there is a backlog everyday in every district. Then call the media and have them check on what you tell them. The media will call the citys bluff on how many PO's are really on the streets. You can't get in trouble for doing your job correctly!!!!!! Wake Up CPD!!!!!!!!!

I wonder if that retired exempt taught the entrance exam class, after he gave the answer away to his pals on the detectives' test, on company time, on company property. The fop (lower case letters used, for a lower case organization) buckled, towed the company line and said this now retired exempts detective exam class was open for everyone. Once again selling us out. We need to make changes, we need for the last names of the bosses to change too, not just the first ones. We need solidarity. We need to look out for one another, take care of our own.

There has always been consternation at the FOP's ability (or lack of)to effect change or have an impact in management desisions. Generally it seems, my experience being superfical, arbritators rule for the City on a consistent basis when it comes to major management desisions. There have been differences of opioin since I came on this job on how and what type of work action could/should take place.
There has been no 'Jimmy Hoffa' type of personality to lead us as a group. Until someone steps forward, a charismatic personality, who strikes chords in the public and police, who has the toughness to negotiate with out fear of reprisal or for own self interest we will langish.
It would not take many to follow, only brave souls willing to make personal sacrifices.
Who would take up the Banner?

If only half of the coppers working on a particular day did not write movers, parkers, impoundments, this city would grind to a halt. It can be done because there are at least 2500 coppers that have balls to do it. The others are sucking on their bosses c**ks as usual and don't have to write anything. If we did that at least once a week, Mayor Dum-Dum would be f**ked. Let them prove that you saw a mover and didn't write one, heard loud music or saw someone parked illegally. I hear you saying that then the supervisors will call you on the air with movers and parkers that they have found. Simple enough, hand them your book and tell them to write it because if you didn't see it, you would be filing an false official report and could get fired. There are others ways too. If you're working mids, refuse to go out 99 because of safety issues. If cars are bad, down them for the simplest thing. I guarantee that the areas WILL run out of pool cars and then, No car - No on the beat. Oh yeah, to all you ball less bosses (oxymoron, right) try to fire me.

Word is, some other "Reports" are also looming.

I have received word, close to the investigation, via a secure, cryptic and digitally enhance signal landline phone, that the impending OCD-PROSTITUTION indictments are coming down.

My confidant has informed me that a total of 9 current and former members of this unit are to be Federally indicted and Charged.

All of the charges stem from the theft of U.S.C. and personal property from "Johns", "Prostitutes" and theft of property from personal vehicles seized by OCD-PROSTITUTION.

This information, if deemed correct, would be inline with a previous poster who stated that the Feds like to indict and arrest pubic officials during or close to the holiday season. Placing a higher psychological effect on the indicted subject thus causing many to be more inclined to cooperate with the arresting law enforcement agency involved.

Stay tuned, this may be one of the worse years for C.P.D. in regard to the number of C.P.D. officers charged with crimes. Which may allow the City to be in a better negotiating position with the upcoming new C.P.D. contract.

Here's a tip for you youngsters out there. If you going to a business establishment that only serves alchol and no food, DON'T walk out and hop into your illegally parked "M" plate unmarked squad car that is parked on a very busy street where everyone can see you. I sure hope people know we can't strike, if not, save us all. We don't even need an all out blu flu or following of orders. If watch officers do what they have to, no more, no less, it would cripple the department and no unit could compensate. Fine, have tactt and gangs write tickets, then yhe other numbers would take a hit. Patrol, while the worst place to be, is still the backbone of the department, contrart to the belief of many.
