From the Comments Section

It is sometimes amazing how much we discover surfing the net. And sometimes more so what we discover surfing our own comment sections:
  • Anonymous said... I was scrolling through the news sites (2,5,7,9,fox32) as I always do getting caught up on the news. I was watching a video clip of a newsbroadcast about the stolen suv that plowed into the house in 015 last week killing the young girl. In the UPDATED report, the reporter stated that the subject driving it had died of his injuries. (Good..I thought!)

Then was stunned by what I heard next. The reporter reiterated that witnesses say the crash was the result of a police chase and that THE OFFICERS INVOLVED COULD BE CHARGED CRIMINALLY IF IDENTIFIED! What-the-fuck?!

The news video than goes to Cline who stated that they have looked at all the radio tapes and have spoken to officers working that night and still believe that no chase occured, BUT WE ARE STILL LOOKING INTO IT! I went back to the news sites and now can't find the video segment, I can't remember which channel it was broadcast on.

    Did anyone else see it?
We searched in vain for a while trying to find this video clip. Perhaps someone at one of the media stations realized how biased against the police that little clip was and hid it. Or maybe we just missed it. The fact remains that the media ran with all sorts of reports from alleged "witnesses" claiming police chases and unreported collisions and who knows what else and we have yet to see one single iota of evidence to back up the stories.

Could it exist? Sure. But in the Sun Times Saturday:
  • Some witnesses reported that Abele appeared to lose control on an alley speed bump, missed the turn onto Waller, crashed through a chain-link fence and slammed into the home.
  • [Monique] Bond said the toxicology report was inconclusive and witness statements were conflicting, so no theory about why Abele crashed the SUV could be determined.
Conflicting - as in the media ran with a certain angle and it hasn't panned out so far. And it might never pan out. The Sun Times doesn't even touch on the chase angle any more.

It has to be a police chase. Everybody knows that the driver has no deep pockets and is dead, the owners of the car had reported it stolen so they can't be held liable. By process of elimination that leaves the city liable. The easiest to blame is the police after all they are probably the only city agency present on the west side. Any other city agency that could be liable i.e. S&S would have left evidence like a pothole but the police are like ghosts we come and cause grief and melt into the night leaving no evidence of our passing becuase we are that good or we have that secret government steath technology that lets us disappear and erase radio transmissions etc.

LMAO! I've heard that line so often on the West Side.

The first time I heard it, a CTA bus with just a few passengers got into an accident at Pulaski Rd. Over THIRTY "passengers" showed up at hospital ERs claiming injury.

See...again and again I say it. Why would anybody on this department want to do Police Work. Then when the city shits in your front pocket...the light goes on and you stop believing.

Keep your own block and house safe. Talk with your nieghbors and call the shit out of 911 when our off duty.

And for you stone heads that think arresting these idiots will keep you and our family safe???? All I can say is, enjoy your 10-1 party.

i saw that in the comments section also and it struck me as odd because it was referring to a story that happened weeks ago. that's why the clip is no longer available. i also remember seeing the clip. the two "witnesses" were just a couple of hypes that even i was surprised to see the news bother to interview. another regular guy said "i never saw a police car"
what a ghetto lie whenever some pos is in a single vehicle crash with nobody else to blame. heard it a million times "gangbangers was chasing me!" "the po-lice was chasing somebody!"

If the police are involved in any vehicle pursuit, the totally of anything that happends due to the offender fleeing should be put solely on the offender, not on the police. In Chicago = fuck the police as soon as and as much as you can. A fucking joke. We're highly trained drivers engaged in our official duties. Keep sending a msg to the smucks on the street that comitt crimes. I hate this dept's bullshit policies. We shouldnt be called CPD, we should be called BPD = Ball Less Police Department.

Last week single vehicle fatal crash in the 3800 block of Lake. 4 dead, witnesses stated " no one chasing them..... driving at 100mph" first question by the E.R doctor to investigating oficers "were the police chasing them" of course our bosses that showed up asked the same first question, so even our own make it guilty till proven innnocent.

To 9:35 poster:

I was the original poster of that thread.

Yes two weeks ago there was a news story about the incident and the childs death.(That old video can still be found in some news website archives).

However, when shitbird offender died on Wednesday, I saw an updated newscast from wednesday or thursday whereby the female talking head stated that the offender died, and witnesses were still suggesting that it was the result of a police chase. SHE THEN SAID IF THE OFFICERS INVOLVED WERE IDENTIFIED THEY COULD BE CHARGED CRIMINALLY.

Thats when I was like What-the-fuck?!

After I made my comments to SCC I went back to view it, and post the link but it was removed. The older video, from weeks ago is still there.

Now, I have some time on the job, and I understand liability and the "deep pockets theory" when it comes to civil lawsuits against the police. BUT, I was shocked about the officers being charged CRIMINALLY comment.

I hope she (reporter) just misspoke regarding the topic being reported and that the news editors caught it and removed it promptly, thats all I can make of it for now. Hell, no sense losing sleep over it..right?

Thanks for your opinion about it though. I know I didn't imagine it!

the driver was a white parolee looking to buy dope. He crashed and tragically killed a kid in her own home. Black n white?WTF..nothing to do with it. The media doesn't like us no matter what. By the way-don't get into specifics here of "What I Heard" Lawyers read this site too

" The media doesn't like us no matter what..."

Not true, even though cops believe this like religion. Most media respect cops -- some don't. Some are just so completely clueless that it seems like they hate the cops, but they just want their mugs on screen and become 'stars'in their own minds.
Thing is, if you got a story and the cops are afraid to talk to you, and the dept.'s spokesmodel is a [just fill in the blank here], then you use the comments from people who were there even if they are crying about their poor baby who just happened to have an extensive record. You think the media respect those who shout and scream and that? hardly.
