Again?

Illinois politics isn't about being qualified. It's about being related.
  • Surrounded by her congressman husband, her two young children and a throng of sign-waving supporters, Sandi Jackson filed nominating petitions Monday in the race for alderman of the South Side's 7th Ward.

The campaign turned in close to 5,000 voter signatures, she said, adding that she felt "compelled" to run after watching the recent political maneuvering by new Cook County Board President Todd Stroger and Stroger's mentor, former Ald. William Beavers -- whose daughter, Darcel A. Beavers, was recently appointed to the aldermanic seat Jackson hopes to win.

And the bullshit continues.

did anyone see the news-clip when she was offering free turkeys for anyone that signed her petition? that is a flagrant violation of illinois election laws. if it were anyone else, the g would be involved. but, they are just affraid to prosecute this just as when the DEA seized a jaguar from jesse jr, when he bought it as a straw purchase for a nigerian heroin trafficking ring.

the jackson family has to be the most corrupt organization in chicago.

read the book "shakedown." there was never a defamation, libel, or slander lawsuit filed over it. and it makes some pointed accusations backed up with facts and photographs.

From several sources in the community, and as a Beavers supporter, worked in the same district as a recruit, Ms. Jackson was giving out frozen turkeys to any one who signed her nominating petition.

How much more does the first family of shake downs want from this city.
When will Stoney Island be named Jesse Jackson Drive, Cottage will become Jesse Jr. drive and we will name Halsted Mrs. Jackson drive.
Lets name Garfield after the love child out of wedlock, Love Baby Drive.

Have to back Beavers all the way.

Perhaps all of us should legally change our last names. Then we could all land plush city jobs...

She felt compelled to run because she didn't want those other families of politicans to get more than what she felt her family deserves. They are all trying to be Daleys. One piece of the pie is not enough, they want it all. What botheres me most about this neopitism is that the citizens vote for these sons and daughters. There are no other viable canidates because no one wants to waist their money running just to lose to a family member.

Did you see Sanday's comments in the sun-times? She stated that the Mayor was doing a fine job in Chicago. A fine job she said!

If the Mayor was doing such a fine job, then why was her husband Jesse Jr. exploring the run for Mayor?

The bitch just doesn't know the true meaning of politics. She should run for Ald. in the Hyde Park area...

All of a sudden she has credentials... She was appointed by Pres. Clinton to a post when he was in the White House.

Isn't that the same nepotisim as the Beavers? Sandi just didn't get appointed to a post because she is Sandi... Her father in-law "Rainbow Push Jesse Jackson" got it for her.

People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

I remember when folks of color all stuck together through thick and thin in order to get things accomplished. Now that they've had political muscle for a few decades they've become just as greedy and back-stabbing as white politicians.

Don't you just love it?!!! :-)

Not that I'd vote for Sandi Jackson, but I do respect the fact that she is "running" for the office and not being installed like Darcel Beavers "of the most 'powerfulest' political family" was.

We collected over 8,000 signatures for Seiser. Only he can save the 37th Ward.

The thing I remember hearing of Sandi Jackson getting petitions signed was that if you signed the damn petition she gave you a turkey--isn't that like BUYING votes? The B.S. definitely continues.
