Bears vs. Vikings

Well, we know that the Bears will be looking to rebound from the Patriots loss. We'd like to see some of the other quarterbacks get some snaps though. Grossman isn't looking like the one to lead the Bears into the Championship.

Oh! Bullshtien! This is that kid's first real year at the helm af an NFL offense with a line that doesn't give him enough time. They are 9 and 2..He's the most talented Quarterback the team has had in my lifetime and I'm sure that he'll settle down and be the QB for years.

According to a few of your readers and ours, we'll soon be looking for a new hobby. Could we come over here and post and remember how things used to be over at our site? :)

What we really need to do is start recruiting for a SCLieutenants site - then we'll have an idea what the best job in the entire department is really like.

So how about it. Do we have a Lieutenant with enough balls to start a secondcitylou? I've always heard the only job better than a Detective was a Field Lieutenant.

Go Bears!
Long Live secondcitycop :-)

He has one of the lowest ranking QB's in the NFL. The special teams and defense has scored more points that him.

Cook County commissioners gambled that even with a $2 tax on a pack of cigarettes, people would still buy enough smokes to help balance the county's budget.
That gamble failed.

Revenue projections show there is likely to be about a $20 million shortfall in what the county expected to collect off cigarette taxes this year.

Commissioners expected the tax to bring in $223 million, but budget director Barbara Bruno said at the end of the county's fiscal year -- Friday -- they were about 10 percent off.

'Spit and bubble gum'
Last year, the county took in $157.5 million in cigarette taxes when the bite was $1 a pack.
This year, at $2 a pack, the county is on pace to collect around $200 million, clearly indicating a sharp drop in sales.

Additionally, county hospitals are expected to fall almost $90 million short of expectations -- giving commissioners a huge debt to handle just days into their new fiscal year.
------------------------------------

Maybe Bobby Steel's son, whom she is APPOINTING to her Cook County Commissioner spot, who like Todd Stroger has no experience whatsoever in county government, can fix this.

Oh wait, he filed for bankrupcy this year. Yes, this is just the man we need playing with our county money!

I mean afterall, he is qualified. He spent five years working in the park department!

I can't wait until Beavers comes to the county board and APPOINTS his daughter to his Alderman spot.

Why do we even bother to have elections in this city/county anymore?

Armed teenager fatally shot as he breaks into Zion home

By Charles Sheehan
Tribune staff reporter
Published December 3, 2006

A woman shot and killed a rifle-toting teenager who burst into her home late Friday night in Zion, police said.

The intruder was identified as Gerrell N. Davis, 16, of Zion, Police Chief Doug Malcolm said Saturday.

Clad in a black ski mask and gloves, Davis forced open the back door of a home in the 1700 block of Jethro Avenue, Malcolm said. This was shortly after the couple in the house heard a knock at the front door and asked who was there but didn't open the door.

The 55-year-old wife heard the doorjamb shatter, grabbed a 9 mm handgun from her bedroom and ran to the kitchen, Malcolm said.

She fired twice and both rounds struck Davis, who was found by police on the kitchen floor still wearing the mask, Malcolm said.

"It's a terrible situation when it involves kids like this, but these were two middle-aged people sitting in their house and someone came in with a loaded rifle," Malcolm said. "With all the information we have right now, we don't anticipate any charges."

Davis was on juvenile probation for a 2005 aggravated battery charge involving a weapon, Malcolm said.

The couple involved in the shooting could not be reached for comment Saturday.

Police continued to investigate, and evidence from the scene has been sent to a crime lab, Malcolm said.

"There could have been others involved, but we don't know that right now," Malcolm said.

Nice to know you can own a handgun to protect your house anywhere OUTSIDE of Chicago.

Oscar-winning US actress Gwyneth Paltrow feels dinner talk is far more interesting in her adopted homeland Britain than back in her native country.

"I love the English lifestyle, it's not as capitalistic as America. People don't talk about work and money, they talk about interesting things at dinner," she told "NS," the weekend magazine supplement of daily Portuguese newspaper Diario de Noticias on Saturday.

"I like living here because I don't fit into the bad side of American psychology. The British are much more intelligent and civilized than the Americans," the 34-year-old added.

May I be the first to say that the Bears will lose and choke for the rest of the season. I am a pretty good super slueth detective and used my investigative skills as well as my sports knowledge to base this foregone conclusion for the Chicago Bears. I have made this prediction before but was unfairly censored by the Bears loving S.C.C.

REPEATING - THE BEARS WILL CHOKE FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON AND NEVER SEE THE LIGHT OF DAY IN THE SUPERBOWL!

If you see me personally, I will make whatever wager you want on my secured prediction! Thank You!

With the phantom roughing the passer call on 54, and the fumble that they just called an incomplete pass, you gotta suspect that the refs are trying to fix the game for the Vikings.

And now the Vikings grab Grossman and throw him to the ground well after he throws the ball. THE FIX IS IN.

Man! Can you guys stop with the personal attacks? Schmitz has been APPOINTED. Get over it already! Work hard, develop whatever contacts you need to, and go get your double bars already!
But don't hate on those who are in line to get theirs. Life is too short to be so petty about things beyond your control.

Too Bad, time to step up to the plate and be the leader he is suppose to be. The offensive line is one of the better ones in the league, it's not their fault it's his. Most of the time out there he lloks like a second string qb in college, forcing throws, throwing off his back foot, throwing into double-triple coverage, overthrows, interceptions, he is not suited to be the starter and will not lead them to the superbowl.
