- Chicago police seized millions of dollars in illegal drugs in the past four days, and arrested six suspects.
Narcotics unit officers displayed more than a ton of marijuana Sunday night. The officers also confiscated five firearms and almost $55,000 in cash.
"This led to the successful seizure if over 2,800 pounds of marijuana valued at $7.5 million in street value. The street gangs use these narcotics to fund their enterprises, to buy the guns that put our community and everybody at risk, in terms of violence," said Deputy Chief Steve Caluris of the Narcotics and Gangs unit.
How about the money the gangs contribute to various political figures in an effort to influence political decision making? Don't say it isn't happening.

Times, Dec., 2006: (and I'm paraphrasing) U.S. grown (and who knows how much comes in from other countries) marijuana consitutes the largest cash crop in America. Estimates: marijuana, 35.8 billion dollars, corn, 23 billion, soybeans, 17.6 billion, hay, 12.2 billion. In addition, according to a 2005 State Dept. report, US cannabis cultivation is estimated to be 10,000 metric tons, or 22 million tons...... Anyone think that we're wasting our time?

Wow and did you see the Suntimes 1 page article about the seizure. Son of Sup. Matthew Cline was praised by Caluris. 1 day after the Lt. Exam and they are already lining up the ducks for that merit promotion. You got to hand it to this dept they know how to build up the resume for the chosen ones.
Here is mine Sgt. for 6 Yrs. worked in the Ghetto the entire time Son of no one important except to me. On the medical 3 times for getting my ass kicked waiting for help. the 001 tact lt. had a bead on these weed guys two years ago. he took it to ocd and was told by cronin and piazza "it's only weed we are not interested. you are only operating at the district level and we know what we are doing don't bother us with this " now it's newsworthy that they found it. caluris wasn't involved back then but this is old news to some.
